Ever since I was a little kid, I have always noticed that my rib cage stuck out a bit more than the other kid’s ribs. Ive also always felt that my butt stuck out way more than it should have.
This is because my upper body is in front of my lower body and my lower back also arches inward (toward my abs). My pelvic bones also feel screwed up and out of place because of this. When I lie down, I can really feel the effects of my crooked back.
Normally, this would not be a huge deal to me, but I have recently been looking into taking Thai Boxing which requires much kicking, of which I may not have the posture/flexibility for. I have attached a picture of my upper body (so you get an idea of how much my ribs stick out).
I can only put 1 Img up so I wont show you my lower back or my lower body. I just want to know if this is normal, or do I have scoliosis/kyphosis? I have been lifting for about 3 yrs and I do a lot of squatting and dead lifting so will I develop back pain over time if I keep lifting?
I have the same issue. It is most likely a case of lordosis. Basically, I can stick my hand under my lower back when I am laying flat on the ground. My lower back used to bother me more often before I started lifting anytime that I laid on the floor propping my my upper body up with my elbows or any other position that hyper-extended the area.
After I started lifting and my lower back gained strength and more thickness, it stop bothering me as much. I have found that it is actually beneficial with respect to weight lifting because I have nice arch pretty much all the time. As it relates to kicking and flexibility, my experience is that dynamic stretches and movements tend not to aggravate it that much while holding a hyper-extended position pretty much guarantees aggravation. Please remember that this just my experience and it may differ for you.
