Not the premium ones.

Whoops. This threads going way off topic.
Anyway, about Scientology… watch the Colbert Clip I posted earlier. Good stuff.
And the South Park episode’s funny too.

I’m not defending Scientology. I was defending a person’s right to choose to practice whatever faith most appeals to them.
I think that’s a great value, but Scientology is not a faith.
That’s what I’m arguing. Its evil, it hurts people, and a few sharks at the top who promote it get all the money.
Even the founder of Scientology, Hubbard, stated (indirectly) that he was in it for the money. Its not really a faith, or a religion.
Its a global scam to take advantage of the willing and give them some hope while they drain all they can.[/quote]
then it seems as if we both agree on the same thing, people having the right to choose.

Exactly. Which is why they should stay away from Scientology. Its not a choice (even if it may seem like one at first). Its a sentence.

I can respect that opinion as it sounds like you aren’t denying them the right to make a bad decision.
whew… somewhere Hell has frozen over.

They can waste all the money they want with Scientology.
What concerns me most is when these guys begin infiltrating government agencies like the FBI (this happened already) and begin messing around with intelligence.
Then they begin infiltrating the Government and begin pressuring those in power to make bills that further support their “cause”. (happened in Sweden or Switzerland… I forget. And Germany.)
Then you need to squash the roaches. I mean Scientologists.
Yeah scientology is ghey.

October girl, you are obviously as stupid as the day is long. You shouldn’t be allowed to speak or type your drivel, ever.

Thank goodness you came along with a reasoned argument and a firm grasp of how to use quotes.

You’re a fucking idiot.
Don’t rag on OctoberGirl without good reason. If she posted something that offends you, then defend your point of view.
I can’t believe you actually need to be told how to discuss.
Oh, and BTW Dragon Ball Z is gay. And so is Vegeta. He’s a flaming homosexual. Change your user name.

You said that “in ancient societies women were equal to men” Then you talk about Ancient Britain where there were tribes where kingship/queenship was determined thru the female line. Descent thru the female line is not the same thing as women being equal to men. I’m asking for a list of the ancient societies where women were equal to men. Are you saying that in Ancient Celtic societies of the British Isles women had equality to men?
Yes they did. They were even war chiefs and also taught battle skills to younger children, same as with native american tribes where women were the war council as chidren belong to the house of the mother. I never said it was the norm., but it did happen.

I’ll be going to the library this weekend and see if the ancient celts were this ancient civilization of gender equality that I’ve never heard of. Maybe I’ll learn something new. I’ll report back.
I agree with freedom of choice. I disagree that scientology is on the same plane as other major religions. It is a scam. It was invented by a whacked out con man science fiction writer. It is not a “real religion.” People have the right to get screwed. No question about it. But the rest of the world has the right to point out that this is a major fraud.

Not only that but the rest of the world has the right to Punish those Scientologists who commit Treason against any State. (Worldwide too.)
They are messing everyone up when they start to leech money from Governments and interfere with matters of National and possibly International Security. The kid gloves should come off then.

Ok, I’ve been very supportive of your positions through out this thread, as you’ve done a nice job in defending them and not just making acusations. I may not have agreed with them, but that is my choice as your positions have been yours. However, this statement floors me a bit. Could you please offer up an explanation?

Whether she realizes it or not, she’s paraphrasing Karl Marx, who said that religion was the “opiate of the masses,” meaning it had the effect of keeeping the proletariat under control. I think Octobergirl might be a commie ![]()

I just saw that all the way through. What a bunch of weirdos. Following the cameraman around interrogating him about “his crimes”. Accussing him of being a child molester, a wife beater, and that he kills people.
WTF.
Talk about brainwashed… but that was surreal.

Deputy!! who knew you and I would agree also! We probably both agreed on freedom of choice posts and posts ago. Thanks for sticking with it until we hashed it out.

I did a sloppy job of paraphrasing Karl Marx. I typed the actual quote a few posts back. Here is the quote.
“Religion is the opiate of the masses.”
