Squat - 325 (3x5)
Military Press - 130 (3x5)
Pendlay Row - 160 (3x5)

My knees are really starting to get sore after all this squating, so I’m going to start just going to parallel instead of ATG and see how they respond.

The link above I got from a T-Nation member in one of the threads and it may help with the knee issue and still let you go ATG. Be warned, don’t be surprised if you have to lower the weight to do them.

I tried watching it here at work but its not loading. Is that the Dan John squat fitcast? If so, thats one of my favorite vids on the net (as well as Squat RX). I haven’t viewed it in awhile, but I’ll try to access it from another computer tonight and see what I can take away from it.

Yes it is

Friday

Workout

Squat - 330 (2x5, 1x1)
Bench - 205 (3x5)
Deadlift - 285 (1x5)

I’m not sure whats going on with my knee. Its my left one and its to the touch right on the knee cap. Is it possible that because I’ve been moving up in weight so rapidly, my joints haven’t been able to keep up? I’m going to up my fish oil intake and rest up this weekend and see how I feel on Monday.

Also, sorry for the lack of posts. Everytime I logged in and tried to update I kept getting an error so I eventually just gave up.

if you have been working out for 8+ weeks consistently you may want to take a week off or at least try some higher rep work on the squats. and yes you may be making strength gains quicker than your joints and tendons can recover. i always try to err on the safe side rather than be sorry…

keep up the good work though man..

I’m back suckas!

I apologize for not logging this weekend. With finals hitting soon I made a pact to stay away from the internet this weekend so I could get some work done without any distractions.

My knee still feels a bit bummy, so I took today off from working out. Since the goal of Starting Strength is to progress linearly, I think I’ve gone about as far as my joints will take me on the squat for now. I’m interested in trying the WS4SB program since I’ve heard many good things about it, and this will also give me a break from squating 3x a week.

Monday

Meal 1 - 1 serving of oatmeal, 1 scoop Grow! Whey, 4 eggs

Meal 2 - 5oz chicken breast, broccoli, 1oz almonds

Meal 3 - 2 servings mandarin chicken from Panda Express, broccoli, 1tbsp EVOO

Meal 4 - 5oz chicken breast, broccoli, 1 low carb tortilla, 2tbsp natty peanut buter

Meal 5 - 1 scoop Low-Carb Metabolic Drive, 1 serving Superfood

Sayjin-

Great work. I have been following along for the past week.

I just began Rippetoe workouts and it is cool to see your progress.

I’ll be tuning in for WS4SB.

Keep it up.

Wednesday

Meal 1 - 5 eggs, broccoli

Meal 2 - 2 Meijers frozen chicken breast, 1 low carb tortilla, 2tbsp natty peanut butter

Meal 3 - 1 Meijers chicken breast, broccoli

Preworkout: 10g BCAA
During Workout: 1 scoop Surge
PWO: 2 scoop Surge

Meal 4 - 1 Meijer chicken breast, 1 low carb tortilla, 1 tbsp natty peanut butter

Meal 5 - 1 Meijer chicken breast, 1oz almonds

Meal 6 - 1 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive

Workout

A) Bench Press
135x5, 155x5, 185x3,205x3, 225x3

B) Chin ups
2 sets of 15 reps

C) T-Bar Row/Face Pulls superset
55x8x4 (Row)
4th platex15x4 (numbers are worn off - face pull)

D) Barbell Shrugs
225x10x4

E) DB Curls
35R/30Lx8x3

I hit a PR on the bench today thanks to my form. This is the first time I didn’t lose the tightness in my back when reaching for the bar, which most likely has something to do with me adjusting how low it is when I start out from the power rack. My least favorite exercise was actually the dumbbell curls, since by the time I got to the end of my workout my arms were fried and this weight seemed like it was damn 50lbs!

Add 2 scoops of low carb Metabolic Drive and some almonds as another meal to the end of the day. Finals are a bitch, but I refuse to let it keep me from updating my log…although I’m sure my cortisol is high as heck with the lack of sleep I’ve been getting and the stress of all these papers.

Also, pictures and weight update will be given on Monday morning.

Sayjin, looks like you’re ragin right along. My fault I haven’t stopped by lately, busy with school, coming down to the end of the semester, you know how it is, you’re going through it right now.

mmmmmmmmmmm Metabolic Drive + almonds = tasty!!! (definitely not open butt LOL).

Stay strong man, good luck with finals.

Yeah man, I already know how it is, so no worries - 1 more week!

And hey…what the heck is up with you starting a workout log and not letting Ragin Sayjin know about it?! Lucky for you my e-stalking skills are superb and I was able to track your location down to 1872 Beastin Ave, Crossfit, IL 60652!

Keep up the good work man, I’ll for sure be checking up on your log from now on.

I started a workout log??? Where?? I’ve been training Crossfit style for the past few weeks and have been posting on the thread ‘A Crossfit Adventure’

http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=2010768

I didn’t want to bother anyone with the training, because I’m a pretty boring guy, don’t have much to say lol, but my bad, I wasn’t hiding anything from you, I promise.

I must give you credit for e-stalking me (never had a stalker before), but that location is 66 miles from where I live. Too far for me to drive there and back every day.

I think your e-stalking skills need some fine tuning.

I think you need to grow your afro back.

Ragin Sayjin + afro = pinpoint accuracy e-stalking skills.

How are finals coming along?

Hell yeah man! It blows, but I’m done next Friday, so I only have to hold out until then.

Yeah, that was the thread I was talking about. How many weeks have you been doing that kind of training for now?

Well hey, you gotta give me credit for trying, right? I’m sure the zip code was pretty off, but its the only one I remember, thanks to growing up with those Scruff McGruff commercials. Actually, I’m pretty sure that on my death bed that’s the only thing I’ll be able to remember…

Be careful what you wish for though, because in just a few short months the afro could return, and you could wake up one morning, ready to face the world, and walk into your kitchen to find me making pancakes and eating your superfood!

Finals don’t actually start until Monday, but this last week has been spent doing all the work the professors shove in right at the final part of the semester. I have a few books to read before Monday, but I’m going to be at work all this weekend, so hopefully I can get a lot of reading done there.

What about you?

Thursday’s Meals

Meal 1 - 2 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive, 2 servings oatmeal

Meal 2 - 2 meijer’s chicken breast, 1 low carb tortilla, 2tbsp natty peanut butter

Meal 3 - small piece of cake, 4oz salmon, 1oz almonds

Meal 4 - 3 eggs, broccoli

Meal 5 - 1 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive, 3 eggs, broccoli

Meal 6 - 1 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive, 1 serving Superfood.

I’m going to go do my workout for the day and then I’m off to the movies, so I’ll update today’s meals and such when I go to work later tonight.

Ahhh gotcha, my bad. My bad for questioning for e-stalking skills, they are accurate indeed. I will bring you my finest meats and cheeses.

I’ve been doing that for about a month now, it’s really good, I feel like my heart is going to explode out of chest after pretty much every workout. It gives me a really good workout and makes my trip to the gym, even when sometimes the workouts only take 10 minutes.

Ahhhh yes, Scruff McGruff, that’s bigtime. Good call. High five.

So it’s possible the afro could return??? YES!!! Hey, eat all the Superfood you want, as long as you leave me some pancakes, it’s all good.

I had a final last Monday, and a presentation this Monday, then one final in two weeks, and my last final (which is a presentation) three weeks later, so thankfully, they are pretty spread out.

Good luck next week, knock em dead.

Friday

Meal 1 - 1 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive, 1 scoop Grow!, 2 bowls oatmeal

Preworkout - 10g BCAA
During Workout - 1 scoop Surge
PWO - 1 scoop Surge

Meal 2 - 5oz chicken breast, 1 orange

Meal 3 - 4oz chicken breast, 2oz almonds

Meal 4 - chicken fingers + fries

Meal 5 - 1 scoop low carb Metabolic Drive, 1 low carb tortilla, 1 servin Superfood

Meal 6 - 4 eggs, broccoli

Workout

Bulgarian Split Squat with front leg elevated to increase ROM

  • 3x10 (2 40lb dumbbells)

Pull Through
-3x10 (110 lbs)

Saxon Side Bends
-3x5

This workout was pretty fun, especially the pull throughs, as I’m sure this must have some kind of functional cross-over that will keep the ladies satisfied. The hardest part of the workout was actually keeping balanced while doing the split squats, but once I got that down it was pretty much smooth sailing from that point on.

My quads and hamstrings are fried though, so I’m glad I made it through today’s workout without too much trouble. I had a 60m sprint race with a co-worker on Wednesday night. We raced a few months back and I got smoked something fierce, but after I lost I challenged him to a rematch…which is when he tells me that he ran track all of his life.

I haven’t sprinted since our first match, so I attribute my ‘almost’ victory to all the squats and burpees I’ve been doing. It was dead even right until the end, and the only reason that I lost is because I’m a failure - I leaned back and he leaned forward, winning by a head. I won the second race though, but he fell down and scraped himself up pretty badly so I didn’t count that one.

All in all, I can’t wait to get some quality rest tonight, and depending on how I feel on Sunday I’ll train or push it back to Monday or Tuesday.

Chicken fingers and fries, wtf?

Oh, by the way, keep kicking ass and go set some curves (finals).

Yeah lol, I know I know…

I had a craving for them though, and instead of toughing it up and getting something else I gave in though. I refuse to beat myself up about it though since thats counterproductive.

Are you in finals week too, or are you a grown man with bills to pay?
