I felt the same. It’d be a great deal at $15/month I think. If this program works out (I don’t like it so far) then it might be worth the extra scratch.
FWIW I am listening to a podcast with Dave Tate (edit again), Justin Harris is who is talking to. 8 hour podcast BTW.
Bryan’s take on training, in regards to bodybuilding, is it isn’t important. We run out of nutrition far before need for more stimulus. He also went on to talk about how when he would take on clients his main goal was to get them up to 6 to 7k cals a day, while not gaining much fat or weight. Once there then strip them down to low body fat.
He did say training is important for skill. Sports, powerlifting, etc.
Edit to add, talks about around the 3 hour mark.

Bull Mastiff Program
Day 3 Deadlift
Deadlift (65% 1RM)
280 3x6, 12
Front Squat
135 3x12
I hate these. Time to get good at them.
Med Neutral Grip Lat Pulldown
160 2x12
Arms are too long for the machine. Had to lean back more than usual.
Seated Leg Curls
100 2x15
Leg Extensions
70x12
60x13
Cable Crunches
75 2x15
Adductors were still so tight from squatting that I thought I might pull one or both tonight. Fortunately, they behaved after a great deal of warmup.
Still getting light headed even with a lot of water. Does living in air conditioning do that?
I think it’s from going from the heat to the a/c and vice versa more than just the a/c.

Bull Mastiff, Day 4
Overhead press Day
Strict Log Press (65% of est max)
125 3x6, 8
First log press ever. Would have gone for 2 more on the plus set, but I lost balance
The clean is easy right now, but the weight is light. Wonder how this will be when it gets above body weight.
Spoto Press
125 3x12
EZ Bar Lying Triceps Extensions
70 2x15
DB Hammer Curls
35s 2x15
DB Rear Laterals
25s 2x13
Standing Calves
BW+140x15
BW+225 2x10
Next week adds another set to the development and bodybuilding exercises
I was definitely doing too much heavy work before this program. Starting to feel good.
Those log cleans did something with my mid torso spinal erectors. I’ve never ever been sore there this way before.
That’s pretty neat.

Bull Mastiff, Week 2 Day 1
Squat
High Bar Squats
235 3x6, 8
AI bumped the weight up on me.
RDL, RPE 7
245 3x12
225x12
And added an extra set on everything. RPE +1 too on this.
Barbell Row
155 2x13, 12
Seated Leg Curl
100 3x15
Seated leg Extension
60x13,14,11
This machine is brutal
Cable Crunch
80 3x15
Standing Calves
225 3x10
Suitcase farmers walk
90x2 @60ft
I hope I can make it through next week.
Got to see a young fellow deadlift 560 tonight. No hype, he just picked it up and put it down. Very cool.

Bull Mastiff, Week 2, Day 2
Bench
Bench Press
160 3x6, 12
Axle Overhead Press
90 2x12
85 2x12
Cable Pressdowns
70 3x12
DB Curl
35s 3x15
DB Rear Laterals
25s 3x13
Upper volume is manageable. Might have trouble keeping up with the lower half’s volume. We’ll see.
How you finding the new gym ?
It’s dirty, it’s dank, the machines are old and some are downright dangerous to use.
I love it.
Seriously, I actually love it.
They’ve got everything you could want for powerlifting, strongman and olympic lifting. It’s just not cosmetic or for stupid people.
Sounds like my gym. Old concrete warehouse with not a mirror in site, but more machines, bars and weights than you could ever need.
That sounds awesome. If my gym had 25% less d-bags it would be perfect.
Every gym is improved by having fewer d-bags and broccoli-heads.

Bull Mastiff, Week 2, Day 3
Deadlift Day
Deadlift
305 3x6, 12
Could have got 15 if I wanted to ruin the rest of my workout.
Front Squat
140 4x12
Coming out of the hole better and getting about 8 reps before I have to pause to breathe.
Med Neutral Grip Lat Pulldowns
170 2x12
160x12
Seated Leg Curls
105 3x15
Leg Extensions
60 3x13
This is the nastiest machine. If you can get 120 for reps on this thing you are one strong mfer
Leg Raises
3x12
I spend most of my rest time in front of one of the portable air conditioners so my head doesn’t explode. Thought I was getting used to the heat, but there’re levels to it I guess.
Good on you for doing front squats. Someone has to be carrying the load. ![]()
They’re so embarrassing, what with the weight being so low. But it’s literally all I can do for 12 reps. Being built like a frog is a real disadvantage on that lift.
Anyone doing them in the gym always get the nod from me. I hate them, but realize they are a great movement with a lot of carry over. I just refuse to do them. LoL.
You definitely get extra credit for doing them over 5 reps.

Bull Mastiff Week 2 Day 4
Overhead Press Day
Log Press
130 3x6, 7
Couldn’t get it settled on my shoulders terribly well today
Spoto Press
130 4x12
EZ Bar Skull Crushers
75 3x12
DB Hammer Curls
37.5’sx15, 2x12
DB Rear Laterals
25s 3x14
Week 2 finished. Now the development exercises go to 5 sets and bodybuilding stuff gets 4 sets per exercise.
Gawd. This took me two hours.
Oh well - soldier on.
Shoot, I’m down below 100 lbs for reps of 10 or more. Ha ha… Front squats are terrible but man to they hit the legs…
2024-08-31
Bull Mastiff, Week 3
Day 1 Squat
High Bar Squat
240 3x6, 9
Should have gone for one more on the last set.
RDL, no lockout, straps
245 5x12
Barbell Row
155 2x15, 2x12
Kept my wrists straight and pulled straight back. Better effect on the back. Hadn’t realized I was forearm curling until today
Seated Leg Curl
110 4x12
+
Leg extension
60 4x13
Leg Raises
4x12
+
Standing Calves
BW+225 2x12, 2x10
This will be the toughest week of the program I hear. It starts working on strength after this. Started supersetting, which kept me under 2 hours this time. I’m knackered though.
