Ive got this irritation in my elbow and was wondering if taking and Ibuprofen would prevent muscle growth or something for the time of being. Ive heard that its bad to take it. Is this true?
Without going into specifics, I have read studies that have said NSAIDs could potentially interrupt the muscle repair process following weight training.
That being said…if you need to take some ibuprofen to combat some inflammation, I would say go a head.
What would be worse: taking some ibuprofen and getting your elbow better and potentially having an effect on muscle repair?
Or potentially letting your elbow get worse and deter you from training?
Plenty of people have gotten bigger and stronger while they had to take NSAIDs. Myself included.
Probably safer to take it after lifting than to take it before.
If anything the effect is pretty small, I banged up my knee earlier this year and had to take Ibuprofen constantly to reduce inflamation but still made some progress in the gym.
