Sacrifice Versus Reward

Didn’t have specific topics in mind. Just thought perhaps there could be a place where more casual (although still SERIOUS) lifters who just want to look and feel good could talk about stuff without intruding on the BB section (I actually thought that’s respectful).
I wouldn’t mind such a forum and would probably frequent it as long as it didn’t become a second GAL because I do feel inappropriate posting in the BB threads and rarely do for that reason.

But that said I still think you’ve been a jerk (at least to me) in this thread and I’m starting to see why your threads or the ones you frequent turn into shitstorms. The fact that that happens doesn’t have to have anything to do with your message btw.

Some of my threads have dumped because people misinterpret what I say, like to act tough, or are incoherent! Some have been quite successful, and the Rapid Fat Loss one I started over a year ago, is now still going on it’s THIRD edition. The Bodybuilding Bible Thread was good too. The Not Meant to Eat thread was good too. Why were they good? Because they weren’t topics in which people could DISTORT what I wrote and they stayed on topic like grown adults.

The Anti Self Help Crusade turned into a shit storm because it’s an emotionally driven thread, people were put off by some of it, and as usual, with the highly emotive threads, we had the HARD DRIVEN … ALL KNOWING … HARD WORKING … EXCEPTIONAL … HIGHLY FIT … HIGHLY INTELLIGENT … EXTRAORDINARY … ENTREPRENEURIAL crowd come in. Not to mention the exceedingly infantile jerks that like to butt in for shits and giggles (eg, Wolbarrett) or to offer us their rather inexperienced, juvenile, and infantile words of wisdom (eg, Oleena, Ladieslove) when the matter at hand doesn’t involve genuflecting, desperate idiots groveling over them because those two happen to be physically attractive to some on here.

If I offended you, then I apologize. I’m guilty of losing my temper and was asking why we can’t have a general fitness forum when we can have forums completely unrelated to any fitness endeavors AT ALL (eg, SAMA). I didn’t quite ask, “Why can’t we have it considering we have SAMA?” I asked, “Why can’t we have it considering we have a forum in which people post multi-dozen page threads dedicated to women they’ll NEVER GET and fall to the ground and begin groveling when some of the more attractive women on here post pictures (perhaps for validation or attention)?” Yeah, I said that. And now that I look back on it, it was in bad taste and written in a highly emotive state.

You can take my apology or not. If you don’t, I accept that. However, you TOO have misinterpreted why my threads have sometimes turned into shit storms - for the reasons I’ve discussed above.

You said I’ve been a jerk AT LEAST to you. Who else have I been a jerk to at THE MOST?! Provide evidence (a post) in which I’ve been offensive to anyone here. Provide specific words written.

PX said I was morally unjustified in bringing up two men who resorted to performance in gay pornography in order to support the bodybuilding lifestyles. I don’t know how this is morally unjustified. I didn’t judge them morally. I brang them up as specific examples of the limits some people have gone to support this endeavor because of expense in time and money. What does this have to do with morality or the hyperactive idiots who are so hot to blame supplements on seemingly every athletic disaster in the past few decades?!

Aww you hurt her feeeeewings Soooooo saaaaaaaad.

Why…did you have to post that crap all over again? Has the thread gotten too quiet for you? zzzzzzz

You can’t even say sorry without putting someone down…

Wow.

If you look at NEARLY ALL my posts in this thread and NEARLY ALL the posts on ALL the forums, most are NOT crap, but rather discussion intended to be made to other people who are and behave like grown adults.
therajraj wrote:

I didn’t mean to hurt feelings. I lost my temper and behaved stupidly.

I don’t even really understand the whole concept of apologizing or getting upset over something someone says to you over an INTERNET forum. If you don’t like what’s written simply log off.

That I misinterpreted what you were saying was my point. Thank you for the apology. I think you often get very emotive in threads and I think that’s what leads to the shitstorms.

I was saying I only speak for myself when I said ‘at least to me.’

My understanding of business is limited, but from what I get Money Talks and Bullshit Walks, correct?

So when you get a bunch of highly dedicated lifters/purchasers together asking for a forum (T-Cell,etc.), you have a good platform to showcase the goods, and therefore, a forum.

What the hell are a bunch of casual lifters with little to any purchase history going to show, and how can you justify the expense? You can’t very well dedicate a forum to a bunch of people whos only message is “Biotest products helped me to achieve very little, and I barely use them anyways.”.

Seems reasonable, right?
I am not sure that is the case. I am not advocating for a general fitness forum. But in regards to buying things a lot of people who don’t realize the hard work that goes in to creating an amazing body will be the first one to buy supplements because they hope it is a magic pill. That is why those weightloss pills and powders and now even a cookie as a diet aid, are making so much money. People want it easy and are willing to buy it if they can.

I don’t think Brick was suggesting that the site tone down the articles to cater to general fitness. I think he suggested a forum but I think a lot of those questions are covered in other forums including Beginners and Conditioning.

But I had hoped this thread was back on track with the actual topic, but maybe it was time to discuss why we should or shouldn’t have a general fitness forum, and it would be interesting to know what other new things the site may have in store for us in the future.
The intention of the thread is self evident; look at the title of it, Sacrifice versus Reward! If some people got on here and said to me, “Brick, I’m willing to put in a 10 on a 10-point Sacrifice Scale (perhaps similar to a 10-point Likert or Borg Scale), because I want to be as jacked as possible,” I’d realize I’m talking to people who understand what I intended to talk about!

Instead it was flipped around into people thinking that because my sacrifice is now down to a 7, that their should be too, and that those of us who just love to work out and be healthy, but not jacked behemoths (perhaps not anymore), are undedicated, “casual”, and not serious. Well, you can say we’re not serious, but when some of us STILL exercise 5 to 6 days per week and watch what we eat, I consider that being serious and dedicated, albeit a different “brand” of serious and dedicated.

I still buy some supplements - Met-Rx bars for snacks and whey and Gatorade powder for peri-workout nutrition (not that even when I was hardcore did I buy so many supplements). I simply don’t like to supplement much, but it goes to show that people after general fitness do supplement and they make up a sizable population of the people who buy supplements and fitness and bodybuilding rags and those who attend bodybuilding shows.

lol who say’s anyone is upset? Calling someone on behavior you don’t agree with does not mean being upset.

That said, the way people treat each other on the internet shouldn’t be any different than in the real world except for potentially and extra level of immaturity that is not well accepted in the real world, for the sake of entertainment. If you want to be the anonymous douche with no manners go right ahead but the online communities you post on have a right to tell you so. (and that was directly to therajraj and not suggesting anyone in this thread was being an anonymous douche)

I apologize because my intention is not to hurt people and I behaved foolishly and she got lumped into the CROWD of people I was speaking of. And I apologize because I’m a sensitive person myself and don’t want to see people hurt.

One more comment to therajraj, what is the point of participating in a discussion if you have absolutely no interest or respect for the people you’re having the discussion with? I actually do like people who post here and I do care what they think. Not to any ridiculous extent, or to a fault that I can see, but I wouldn’t post here if I didn’t.

Anyhow, apologies to all for bringing that all back up. I won’t again.

That should clear it up for you…

Also Raj, in the past (doesn’t happen now that I’ve turned my life around), I suffered from very negative emotions and experiences (no details on here), so I don’t want others to be hurt. I took it too far.
