Russian Weightlifters

Kurlovich for the win, see left <—

Well since I’m not about to start a favorite Polish weightlifters thread, I’m a big fan of Marcin Dolega.

Yeah I saw that one also. I think the music goes well with my video though, haha. Sounds Polish even if it ain’t.

In Russia, weight jerks you.

Does the Soviet Union count as Russian?

Leonid Taraneneko - Leonid Taranenko 265.5 WR Clean & Jerk - YouTube
Yurik Vardanian - Urik Vardanian 405kg total at 82.5kg bdw - YouTube
Anatoli Pisarenko - Anatoli Pisarenko C&J 260kg - YouTube

That’s the one!

Rigert, snatching 130kg in bare feet, a day after winning the European Championships.

I was gonna give you a ribbing on this one, until I realized I did the same thing. If you want to be technical (and what O-lifter isn’t?), Taranenko is Belorussian, Vardanian is Armenian and Pisarenko is Ukrainian. Kurlovich is also Belorussian.

Not Russian per se, but still a cool pic…

Chigishev c&j 247kg like an animal.

Starting them young.
