The first challenge on the show where they needed to run a 5k.

The other people were dying, the two were running and scaring the other contestants.

Anyone going to watch A&E’s new show “Heavy” ?
http://www.aetv.com/heavy/

It looks like it’s going to be the Biggest Loser mixed with Intervention (and maybe Hoarders) without kicking people off the island. Plus, they are supposed to have to complete transformations every week, which will be cool.

I’ll probably watch it cause I like these types of shows lol. The guy trainer i’ve seen in the previews looks like a big ass dude. I’m glad to see a trianer on one of these types of shows who actually has muscle.

there is one on MTV called “i used to be fat” or something like that. I’ve seen parts of two episodes and basically they took two fat kids and got them to lose tons of weight during the summer after their senior years of highschool before they start college. Kinda cool cause these kids get to start college while not being the super fat kid anymore.

I keep seeing advertisements for Heavy on Hulu, some of the scenes are just gross I’m not sure I’d want to watch that show.

I really like that show, actually. It debunks the myth that these fatasses are genetically incapable of losing weight.

thats one of the aspects of the show that I really like. Now days everyone wants to make excuses and turn everything into genetics. These people arent fat because of genetics they’re all fat cause the eat like crap and dont exercise and the show proves that. Most of the contestants were fat their entire lives.

I remember the guy from last season, Frado, who started the show and was taking something like 10 pills a day and 2-3 shots a day for medical issues. After being on the ranch for 2 months and losing a lot of weight he wasnt on ANY medications. Its so crazy.

The show reiterates what we here know about. That this is about personal responsibility. Yes there are shit foods that exist, and healthy foods too. There is a shit lifestyle that one can live, and a healthy one too. Both have rewards and penalties. But at the end of the day, it is the individual who chooses what they want, and they have to accept what comes with it.

If you choose health, then you reap looking good, feeling good, having energy, having the confidence and strength that comes with such discipline. If you choose shit, you accept all that comes with it.

There is also something that the FDA will never tell you, and that is that your health problems are not your fault. It’s not your fault that you’re a diabetic, it’s just not fair that eating a meal filled with sugar and processed shit causes your pancreas to revolt. Shame on your pancreas, how dare it not process some alien shit that it was never intended to come in contact with. So here, take this pill or shot which will lower your blood sugar, but cause you in turn to become even more insulin resistant.

More important than these people learning how to lift or train, is that they learn that they are not helpless. We all can choose how we want to live. When these people see the greener pastures of healthy living, accompanied with a new outlook on themselves (meaning that they are no longer fatties), there is a much better chance at a more permanent change.

I watched the show last night and one of the contestants, a female, is 89% body fat and the doctor said she had an abnormal lack of muscle tissue! Holey freaking moley.

whoops! I was wrong, thanks Doogie. Where did I get 89%? I swear my hearing is dyslexic.
This is one of the ladies on the unknowns. The blonde girl, Sarah (had to look up her name). He told her she would have to work out at least 90 minutes a day for the rest of her life to keep up and maintain her weight loss.

I am tired of hearing the new guy trainer being pre-med, what does that even mean ? Also, he mentions that this is all science, not exactly. There is nothing overly scientific about getting someone who is half their weight in fat to drop weight.

I have to admit I like the show too. Maybe I watch it because it makes me feel superior but it’s also pretty awesome to see them lose the weight and get fit. At the end they run a marathon. I couldn’t do it.

However, I really dislike both Jillian and Bob. Bob in particular appears to have some wasting disease. He gets more ferretlike with every show. In addition, everyone cries. There’s an awful lot of grown men crying for each other and hugging. Do you think it turns them gay? I think it did with one guy. Okay maybe he was gay when he got there and it took me the entire season to realise. Still.
They allude to but do not fully state that Bob Green is a militant vegan.
Which is known to cause wasting, feritization…
and apparently the ghey
You’re a legitimately funny lady. I’m pretty sure after all these months that you’re all right.

What does “overly scientific” mean? And what, about weightloss, is NOT scientific?

It means that having people who are so fat, they sweat margarine to lose weight does not require a lesson in science. Do you need a scientific explanation as to the reasons why you should eat natural wholesome food from the Earth? When I say natural wholesome food, I mean food that grows from plants, trees, shrubs, along with animals that crawl, run, fly and swim. I defy you to overeat on such foods, it simply won’t happen. Now, do you need a scientific explanation as to why?

Mother nature provided it’s own explanation as to why you don’t need to bother reading a book on the Law of Conservation of Energy. You cannot overeat with these foods due to things like fiber and water, along with a naturally low caloric content. How many apples can you eat in one sitting? Yep, eggg-xactly.

who is winning and whats the deal with the two groups? unkowns? and whats the deal with the other group

Did he give a lesson in science about this? Or did he just say that weightloss is science? (which it is)

Some people need it. Some people are simply curious about it. Some really don’t care. Doesn’t negate the fact that studying, understanding and employing it constitutes science. And, quite frankly, the rate at which they expect the contestants to lose weight does require a bit of science in the approach.

When it’s possible to die from drinking too much water, why would you defy me to overeat on “natural wholesome foods”?

What explanation is that? If it existed, there’d be no need for fields of science dealing with nutrition. If it existed, we wouldn’t have gone through a phase of demonizing fat.

If you’re gonna hate on the new trainer, hate on him for a legitimate reason. Not for some shit you feel like pulling out of your ass to add to the pile on. I, personally, didn’t like the guy when he arrogantly proclaimed himself as one of the best trainers in the country.

The rate at which people lose weight varies, most respectable trainers and lifters know this.

Also, I HIGHLY doubt that morbidly obese people are curious about the science of losing weight. Listen to their statements, …“OMG I lost more weight here in a week than I did in months at home!” These are people who didn’t bother to look into the science of losing weight, and with the internet at our disposal, there really is no excuse. They didn’t care about themselves, their health, their body, but you are trying to tell me they are really interested in THE SCIENCE behind it?.. Child please.

My explanation of eating natural food is the Cliff’s Notes version, and it is hard to really argue that, unless you a) have an illness where you have to pay special attention to food even more than normal and/or b) You seek an elite or professional level of achievement where you need to pay more attention to food. Concepts like CCK’s satiating properties from protein and fat consumption, fibrous food consumption leading to a slowing down or gastric emptying and lowered glucose and insulin response. Mother nature has it’s own mechanisms to handle calorie consumption and nutrient uptake.

Someone dying from drinking too much water? We call that drowning in the real world. When is the last time you EVER heard of someone dying from drinking too much water? Yes, these people are fat from drinking too much water. Yes, I defy you to try to overeat on natural foods, let me know how far you get. If you eat more than 2 apples or a huge bowl of broccoli in one sitting, I would be shocked.

I hate on the new trainer because any quality trainer would NEVER refer to themselves as “one of the best trainers in the country.” There is something to be said about humility, and I have not heard even one of the authors and trainers here on this site refer to themselves in such a regal manner. It’s not just about the people in the business, but the business as a whole. If you need to thump your chest about your abilities, then you really aren’t worth a bucket of monkey shit IMO. Your reputation should precede you. I have more respect for the female trainer, as a former boxing champion, she has proven more to me than the guy who is too cool for school.
