Rulon Gardner on The Biggest Loser

I have to admit I like the show too. Maybe I watch it because it makes me feel superior but it’s also pretty awesome to see them lose the weight and get fit. At the end they run a marathon. I couldn’t do it.

However, I really dislike both Jillian and Bob. Bob in particular appears to have some wasting disease. He gets more ferretlike with every show. In addition, everyone cries. There’s an awful lot of grown men crying for each other and hugging. Do you think it turns them gay? I think it did with one guy. Okay maybe he was gay when he got there and it took me the entire season to realise. Still.
They allude to but do not fully state that Bob Green is a militant vegan.
Which is known to cause wasting, feritization…
and apparently the ghey

i used to like the show alot but it was mostly because i just liked looking at jillian but its gonna be her last season on the show, the new female trainer looks good tho but this new guy i already hate heres his infomercial for rev abs…

That has to be the trainer equivalent to gay porn.

Sure you get paid a lot and make a name for yourself, but damn.

I think this has more to do with being constantly overtrained and starved to near death, plus being completely cut off from friends and family with literally nothing else to do besides train or sit around and talk about your friends or family. That is some serious stress. Having cameras following you everywhere wouldn’t help matters any.

Exhausted, starving, alone, and no privacy = you’re going to break eventually, and it will be on camera.

My wife and I watch the show occasionally just so we have a sense of what’s going on before the finale. Seeing the before and after on some of these people is amazing.

I have mentioned this in GAL before… I believe the initial crying (during the first few episodes) is largely from humiliation.

After that… hunger/fatigue/loneliness

Except he had to cut weight to make to make his class and when they dropped it from 285 to 265 he had an admittedly really hard time making weights… hes not a small guy and will plateau pretty fast(relative to the other contestants). he’s not gonna drop down to 200lbs like the other contestants will.

Am I the only one here who actually likes this show?
That’s what I thought when I saw the post. He probably hasn’t weighed 200lbs since middle school. It’s those guys who are naturally 150lbs that will win.

True to both. Even when he was an Olympic champion he still had some love handles. He’s just naturally a big boy, not to say he can’t but the odds do seem against him.

FWIW the new trainer dude says streNth, he’s a tool. There’s an effing G in it! Gets on my nerves.

i beleive the contestants have to go through a physical to make sure they don’t die on the show… heart health etc… there’s been a report of contestants that need to some weight before getting on the show as in they were way too heavy before… what disgusts me is all the extra skin that is left over after…

As a trainer I can’t stand to watch the show.

On one hand, I know it helps numerous people get motivated, but I can’t help but think it does more harm than good with the way they portray trainers as well as exercise needed to lose weight.

I think they should do a spinoff called “The Biggest Gainer” and have some tiny people that want to get big (muscle obv, not fat!) and have them eat like machines and train heavy, etc. Weigh-ins would be tricky, as they’d just stuff their faces to weigh more or something but it could be figured out. The only problem is that other than some people on this site and maybe some other sites, there’s like 1% of the population that would care to see that.

And what’s sad to think about are the people that want to get motivated, but are so big that they just think they can get bigger and bigger while applying to the show, because “they’ll pick me if I’m a billion pounds!” I wonder how many applications they get each season?

Double Post, damnit.

But Greg, I bet they make a billion dollars! With the show itself, the marketing they get for their own training, supplements, video games, workout dvd’s, etc. It’s nuts. Lucky fuckers!

I wonder how much money bob and Jillian make on this show? They’re probably so damn rich it’s ridiculous.

The new trainers seem lame (especially the guy) I hope this is his only season and that next season it’d bob and that new chick.

That’s my biggest problemwith TV also. We’ve got darts and billiards on espn, but not the Olympia?

They make a grip I am sure.

They did have a figure competitor one season and she didn’t pan out too well. She had a better attitude than Jillian.

I am really shocked that none of these land whales have gotten sick from being underfed and overworked. You would think you would see colds and flus among these cattle.

true. But if you think about it, one show is an hour and a half of actual show? A lot of that is interviews and segways between scenes and its filmed over a whole week?

that means there is A LOT that isnt shown ya know? I’m sure guys get sick but they have a whole huge staff of doctors and paramedics on that ranch. I’m sure at the first sign of any symptoms they take care of it real quick.

It’s not joke, but it goes to show that Olympic champions are not normal people.

I was saying that she lasted one season. That’s what I meant when I said she didn’t pan out.

I am just using any sorry excuse for Kim Lyons pics.
