Ronnie Doing Stones!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed.

He’ll bring back the nostalgic strongman slash bodybuilder title. Hell he should compete in powerlifting, too.

“He’s too pretty to be that strong!”

I agree, and a smart career move for some of these posters is 4th grade. I wonder how a photoshopped 23" diameter arm would look, anybody?

bloody hell he is a freak isnt he?i read that he recently tore his left(i think) triceps, and in a pic his arm did look way down from usual.his arms look fine in this tho,no apparent injury.any one else hear anything bout it?

Clearly it wasn’t understood that the balls are measured in diameters. I would venture that everyone doesn’t follow strongman comps that closely or care to.

Many of them have torn muscles. Levrone tore a triceps as well. Unless it is severe, many of them seem to recover. I think that tear was a couple of years ago.

That’s not a stone, that’s his stomach!! Can’t you see his navel sticking out???

Good one!

Before these pics were taken he wasnt functional.

Now he is.

I don’t see a wobble board, still not functional.

Too much protein will give you Atlas stones!

Agreed. I don’t think some here understand just how big Ronnie is. It isn’t like he’s a midget. After seeing his DVD’s, I am not surprised if he holding it in that pic with his hands. If anyone in bodybuilding today is the real deal, he is. The amount of weight he lifts daily would put many powerlifters to shame.[/quote]

I was at a Night of Champions a few years back in NYC where Ronnie was in attendance (wearing a super groovy light purple silk suit). While he was not as tall as I thought he would be (I think he is like 5’ 10"), he was so incredibly huge, it almost defies description.

I’m somewhat confused as to why everyone feels the need to tear him down for anything he does that is not related to him wearing posing trunks. OK, you can hate bodybuilding and be all about powerlifting or stronman or whatever. But the videos are out there of what he can squat… even though he is not training for pure strength. And now we have the photos of him doing a pretty damn impressive strongman lift. Why is it no one wants to believe he is a freak? Are people going to go on an AAS rant about him? Good Lord… how many top flight powerlifters and strongmen are not juiced?

I think it pisses them off because it blows that whole “bodybuilders are useless piles of sarcoplasmic hypertrophy” out of the water.

Yet they idolize Mariusz.

The stones are measured by diameter. I am sure Ronnie’s arms are 23 inches in circumference. The circumference of a 20 inch stone is actually about 62 inches.(circumference=diameter x Pi)
I think this stone is more likely to be an 16 or an 18.
Look at WSM guys like Jesse Marunde or Magnus Samuelson who are 4 or 5 inches taller than Coleman, a 20 inch stone fills up their arms.
The Inver stone “only” weighs 270 but is not really round, completely filled my arms(I’m 6 feet tall with average length arms).

The first post clearly stated that stones are measured in diameter.

He was doing static holds with them from what I’ve read. Which in my opinion makes it more impressive.

So the fault is not reading every post or paying attention to details. Thanks for pointing that out…again…and again…

I don’t think anyone was tearing him down. It is just that people with some experience in stone lifting might notice that it is unusual to attempt to do stone lifting with just the hands. If he can do that, it is most impressive. It could be the picture was snapped when he was adjusting his arm position in his lap to pull the stone to his shoulder for the press.

I don’t think any of the strongmen believe that bodybuilders are all show and no go, that’s for the silly 16 year olds and fad trainers to say, not serious strength athletes.

Since the get-go everyone has stated 20 inch DIAMETER stone. So a person doesn’t need to be familiar with how stones are talked about to know it was diamter, they just need to read an entire post instead of hitting the reply button as soon as they read one sentence that annoys them.

Yes they were tearing him down. Go read some of the responses on Marunde’s site.

I think it is a styrofoam rock.

His muscles are too big to be strong.

What a wuss.
