Short workout today that more for some mental satisfaction than anything else.
Did some inclines, push presses, sumo deadlifts, squats and step-ups.
I was pretty happy I hit 235 on the squat for 1 rep and I sumo deadlifted 250 for 1 rep. I think I had more than 235 in me but I was so happy that I went all the way down and it was an easy rep.
I just ate a big jar of pistachio pudding again. God it was good. If you’ve never had pistachio Jell-O pudding just try it with some Metabolic Drive it’s pretty good.
Been working on cleans alot lately, I read that article on this website by Hendrick I believe, 12 steps to the perfect clean. Can anybody give me any more videos, advice, tips, websites, article or anything that can help me learn the clean more efficiently? Any advice would help.
So far on this journey of eating and lifting heavy this is what I have observed. I am hungrier now than when I was lifting light weight. I sweat alot more in the gym. I’m sleeping better. The strength is carrying over in other aspects of my life, better grip, better coordination better connection to my muscles. The toughest for me is bench pressing, I’m getting stronger but it is the slowest place that I’m making progess. Deadlifting is my favorite just because it is the most basic movement of picking heavy shit up off the floor. Squats are challenging for me because I want to do them perfectly but they are fun, especially front squats and overhead squats.
The best part about the whole thing is that I finally feel like I’m taking up more space and I feel once heavy stuff becoming lighter and lighter. The best example was on Tuesday when I was benching. I got under 185 and just 3 weeks ago I could only do 1 maybe 2 reps. I warmed up a little bit and I was ready to do 1 or 2 reps just to see if it had gotten easier, I was thinking hey maybe I’ll get three reps? I unracked the bar and started doing reps and before I knew it I was at five and I had more in the tank but I stopped because I knew I should stay fresh. Just unracking it felt effortless and that’s why I eat, and go to the gym everyday, for that one moment where you just hit the groove.
I wanted somebody to spot me when I tried 235 today just in case I couldn’t get it and when I unracked it, I took two steps back and set up. The best for me is when you go all the way down and others are doing 1/4 squats and they just have no clue. Yeah you can “squat” 315 a 1/4 of the way, good job, tighten that belt and throw chalk around and then bend your knees a little bit. I’m really just happy I found T-Nation and a bunch of people that understand that calf raises with 400 pounds on a smith machine and a bandana doesn’t make you strong.
So I’ll keep training, I already have hairless patches all over my shins, and I’ll keep doing exercises that make others come up and ask me what I’m doing and I’ll keep squatting so low that people stare because honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Sorry for the long post but hopefully it’ll motivate you. If your on this sight and your in this thread than your ahead of a lot of people lifting, everybody here has given really good advice and has made me a better lifter.
Keep the advice coming and keep lifting heavy,

Nice work bro and your not happy with your banch Hell IMO its your best lift and you went froma 1 maybe to rep to 5 with some in the tank.
I mean look at the comparison, squat 235 x 1, sumo DL 250 x 1, bench 185 x 5 its your best lift by far need to bring thiose legs UP brother keep working and hey sure the bench is neat but has little carryover to strongman.
Keep it up.
