Nice job Phil. Are you going to do KS and the NE show? I’m thinking about doing the KS, it has a middleweight class with good weights. I’m jealous of your new tire.

We hit max reps in 60 seconds with the axel for starters on saturday, then starting working to a 1rm. I eaisly got 290, after missing 260 twice before. It’s such a head game. You can tell I was a little excited in the video. Then we did farmers which we had not done for over 3 months. The pickup on 300 was eaiser for me than it had been in the past. I think I may have been good for 320 or 330 per hand. Finished with the tire, our 650lber. I got 10 flips on my first set which was a pr by 3 flips, I had 2 or 3 left. Everyone in our group had a pr day. Rex hit a 210 axel clean and press, and 4 flips with the tire when he had previously had only gotten 2! Here are a couple of the videos.

my axel: 2.5" axel clean and press - YouTube

beau axel: beau 2.5" axel clean and press - YouTube

beau tire: beau flipping the tire - YouTube

my tire: tire flip - YouTube

UM yhea Im signed up for Iowa, the Gus, KS and NE but well see events training today been having a lt of elbow pain. well smoked some PRs was going well short day only 1.5 hour and I hadnt ever done stones wanted to give them a try this after log, DL, farmers and kegs. well threw the 170 like a paper weight so went to the 240 and well that elbow pain stopped went away with a SNAP everyone thought I ripped my pant Nope looks like a complete tear of the inside bicep tendon

Gotta feel this out and see may be doing this season with just one head on my right bicep LOL no nagging pain now so thats a plus goofy floppy inner bi head

Oh shit bro, sorry to hear that. If it’s not torn, try and get some ART on that bad boy, it really has worked wonders with me. Keep us posted on how things are looking there.

Sorry about asking on the shows, also, I just realized that’s like the third time I’ve asked.

Thanks man yhea they say its the most common strong man injury. Mine has been hurtingwell some way or another for years figured it was tendonitis and had been told that Im guessing it was a minmro tear and today it just WENT. It was unusually load easy heard 10 15 feet away like fabric snapping.tearing LOL

odd thing was it was the opposite of pain and actually made all pain go away. Now just well bruised big time and odd looking have small Bis any way in realtion to my size and now half the right one just bunches up you can move it where ever you want.

We’l;l see what the nwext week or two of training does to see about the comps, putting off surgery etc

Thx guys we train hard and this stuff happens its more of when then if

Lol, ya if it’s torn all the way off art is not going to help, I didn’t understand. Have you done anything yet to see if it has affected your strength? Don’t risk a long term problem for your upcoming comps homey, hope you can get it fixed and recover.

You know it pretty much freaked me out, I’ve never heard a tendon snap. And to hear it like that, well all I could think was ā€œthis isn’t going to be goodā€

I guess from your point of view I must have looked pretty dumb

Ha freaked you out  kind of did me as well and really you the way you responded was friggin great aided in me taking it light and going very quickly from well ā€œdamnā€ to doing the opposite of what you were saying not being ā€œdoneā€ but determined to from that second not dwell on this but come back and as fast and well as possible.

hel;l no it aint good but just the tone etc you had thx bro you were saying your done etc but in a way kept the mood light and hell Im rolling and will be back

By the way saturday events?? depending on what the ortho say you up for it?? I need to see how a 12" log feels that will be another deciding factor only having two weeks to train

I can’t, I have to work Saturday. Are you wanting to go to Scotts or Erics?

Or were you thinking of going up to Jesse’s?

20 rep squats suck!
more mental than anything

The time I did 225 I puked

Are you going to do the 20 rep super squat routine or are did you just throw them in for the hell of it?

I just threw them in for no real reason. I am doing higher reps in order to avoid re-injuring the back. Basically, I am giving the lower back the week off from heavy pulling. I kept pulling my back and it kept knotting up so I am doing lots of lighter reverse hypers (15-30 reps). Depending on how I feel, I might do more 20-reppers or maybe high-rep leg press and more reverse hypers.

I have a hard time doing these after a bunch of deadlifting My hamstrings are fried plus my bar is bent which I think is really hampering my GM’s and Squats as the weight is not balanced, I’ll buy a texas power bar with my tax refund
I should be having some implements made by a friend soon here, going to have a yoke, farmers, and 12" log made, what else should I ask him to make? He is an Iron Worker foreman so can get pretty much any metal needed free.

weight ā€œemptyā€ as of this morning 191.4lbs I will make an update every tuesday on this, I have been gaining about 1-2lbs a week. I am finnaly starting to fell ā€œbigā€ I will post some pics once I reach 200lbs ā€œEmptyā€

I am going to add a new update to my training log called Toothless Joe sighting. I work out on my deck under an overhang (How is that for redneck.)

and my weird creppy neighbor always seems to go to the edge of his property and kind of watch me work out atleast 75% of the time I want to kind of track how much he actually does. I made a thread about it about 6-8 months ago

Today he showed up right in time for me to do Goodmorning’s which is rather disturbing maybe its my fault for working out in my Rehbands? lol

3/15/07 ME pressing

Great workout today! Everything felt great got some bruises on my triceps and everything.

Axle Clean and Press

100X5 (powerclean)
150X3 (powerclean)
170X2 (going for 3 but the 3rd felt REAL heavy, I forgot to put a collar on one side and the weight slipped on the axle a little bit, whoops! )

I set the bar up with 190 at this point put my belt on and went to clean, Didn’t get the explosin right, stepped back to get my mind right, looked around and saw Toothless Joe down the street watching, I told myself fuck that I can’t let anyone see me fail, got it cleaned up to my chest took a deep breath diped down and threw it up, 190 went up EASY felt great, just snaped it up and caught it with my triceps. I know it was only 190 but I have been stuck at 190 for the past month so I am happy well anyways
