Road to 100

Thats a depressing thought.

Hard to believe too. Even highschool gym class, the only guys who couldn’t do a couple chins were fat [or 100 lbs]. But I guess much of America’s fat, so maybe it’s true.

(2/24/2007)

1 x 17 bodyweight
1 x 4 35 lbs
1 x 3 45 lbs
1 x 1 70 lbs
2 x 1 80 lbs
2 x 1 70 lbs
1 x 5 35 lbs.
1 x 12 bodyweight plus forced reps by way of pushing with my big toe off my bench.

I gave myself a little extra rest and I think it paid off. I got a lot of volume as well as intensity. Out of this set. At first I didn’t feel as if I were going to have a good session, but I just stuck with it and it turned out pretty good.
Probably would have been even better if I didn’t drink all that whiskey the night before and got some decent sleep. But I love the Gentleman Jack, mmmmmm. It took two Red Bulls and a Spike to get that work out in.

I’m new to the site and just came across this thread. I’d like to get to BW + 100 as well. Currently I can do my body weight (184) + 55, for three sets of five. I’d also love to get to a point where I can do a unilateral pullup, something about that just intrigues me.

Good luck with accomplishing your goal.

Yea, me too. I’d like to get some rings and hang them off of my rafters. I then could maybe work in some gymnastics workouts. They seem to be rather gifted in the unilateral pullup. I need more grip too. Yikes! I weaker than I thought.

Welp, It’s over.

There will be no more of this road, I have broken my right hand, well. Obviously, I cannot pull or push shit bilaterally.

Once the bone is set and the dust is settled I’ll be able to work my left side but I am down for the count as far as weighted pull-ups. I do not see me doing those for about six months.
Somebody ought to continue this…
Oh well, happy lifting!

Excuses, excuses!

How did you break your hand?

Freak bowling accident… like in kingpin.

Kidding.

Sorry to hear about that, man. Just remember, nothing in this game comes easy, or quick, for that matter.

Tripped coming down the basement stairs, hand hit 2 x4 on the way to putting them up to try and catch myself…Nothing glamourous, just a freak accident.
I guess it’s a good time to work on my cardio and edurance conditioning. I’ll probably start that next week when the swelling and pain go down.

Damn. Sorry about that.

It’s not so bad, really. It gives me the opportunity to do something else I would normally never do. I am going to run and do more cardio work. Also, I’ll get my left side stronger and in the end, I’ll probably be more balanced. It’s one of those life lessons that lifting has taught me. A broken hand is an opportunity.

Just discovered this thread; you gents are pulling some pretty good numbers.

Checking the journal I see that I managed 6X3 last week peaking at 70 lbs. on my last 3 sets…but I was doing them close grip supinated, which I find a little easier than the form you blokes are using.

But in honor of the OP, maybe we need to make this a thread about doing unilateral pullups with the left hand.

Wow, you got good numbers yourself. Unilateral is the ultimate goal, but I have got a lot of healing before I can get back to it. Keep pushing to 100…

I’d like to use close-grip supinated hands, but I have tendonis in my left arm that just will not allow it. Who knows, after my hand heals the tendonitis may go away. In the mean time, I am going to get my cardio on, just to keep exercising. I intend to make this down time somewhat productive.

I just hit it today. Was super-setting weighted chins and dips, went 55x3,70x3,80x2,100x1 on chins and 70x3,80x3,100x3,100x3 on dips.

Great Job! Maybe I’ll catch up next year. In the mean time 2 weeks down 4 to go in my cast. I never broke bone before, it really sucks! I am training my left side, but I’ll be way behind the mark when I get my right hand back.
