Rising From the Ashes (CL)

Okay. Move your stance in a little. It’s easier to see front in front but I can see from your feet that you are too wide for you. Try a foot width narrower each side. Secondly, you need to lead with the hips on the descent, which involves sitting back more. You are positioning the shoulders and letting the hips go wherever which is making you wobbly and out of position. You are not trusting your hamstrings to bring you back up. Do some auxiliary hamstring work and do some stretches. Try sitting on the floor with your legs out at 45 degree angles, straight, and then try and lean forward. I’ll bet you can’t. The goal is to get you chest to the floor. You’ll stretch stuff you didn’t know could get tight.

I definitely have a problem trying to do this! Well shit it won’t let me post the pic.

Stuff like this makes me worry about posting videos of my lifting, because that looked absolutely fine to me and yet came with a laundry list of "to do"s. I dread to think the feedback my car crash lifts will get.

I am merely critiquing minor points. It’s amazing the difference a few minor adjustments can make in a lift, but they are easier to spot when it’s not you doing the lift.

I have never videoed myself squatting. I think I may be in for a rude awakening when I do it on a public forum.

At least you post one when you first started. I made that mistake and it rainded hellfire all over parade!

T-nation was a very different place back then. Front squat competitions ruled the land.

@hardartery this is why I have problems stretching! Lol

I don’t see that as a problem, he just wants to help.

He always wants to help! Works pretty good for weighed push ups though!

I love my Camilus Vortex but really hope to find a CRKT Fulcrum. I am presantly looking at a Spiderco that we have in stock at work. I would get any Boker. They have some sick damascus but out of my price range.
Selling knives at work give me too much choice. We just got some 5.11 at I still have to play with but they look nice too.

Any ideas here?
I have been stretching my hip flexors and it has helped loosen up my hamstrings considerably. I may be able to add some isolation work now without serious cramps.

I like Zercher Deadlifts a lot, brutal as they are, RDL’s (Romanian DL’s) or Good Mornings. In that order of preference. Lacking these as possible, Squat in a Smith Machine with your feet uncomfortably out in front of you, so as to remove the quads from the lift entirely.

I have done zercher squats but never deadlifts. I will see how this goes. Maybe start with 5x5? I hate good mornings! Ugh! Probably why I should do them. Thank you again for your help.

He’s doing them wrong. That’s no better than a Zercher Squat. He’s skipping the hard part that brings the most benefit. Pick directly from the floor in the crooks of your elbows, and every rep is direct to the floor. No resting on or contact with the thighs at all. I have to get the elbows in place first and then drag myself down into position, because I’m 6’-0 and not flexible enough. Light weight, start with threes, move up to 5x5 when you adjust to the lift. When you get the weight selection just right, you get a pinching sensation in the middle of your forehead during the lift, LOL. They are brutal, and should never be used as a main movement. And don’t overdo them, Ease into them and do it gingerly at first. A thick bar is best for them, but if you don’t have one available wrap a towel around the bar first for padding. Or use some pipe insulation or something along those lines.

You can use blocks or something under the plates to raise the bar to where it would be with 45’s. It will be hard enough from that height.

Just winging it till the end if the year.

My upper back, hands, and the right side of my ass (as usual) is shot from working all the lights/rebar.

Went out and had a 30 min stretch-a-thon this morning. Now shit is just on fire

Standing hip thrusts
Rings upside down to front hold and pec stretch
Facepulls
Lat pulls
Dead hangs
Weighted pec stretch
Hip flexor stretch

I may be ready to lift by the time I get to the gym.

Squat narrowed the stance. Everything felt heavy.

1x5/ bar
1x5/85
1x5/105
1x5/125
1x1/135

One set of good mornings with the empty bar and instantly remembered why I don’t do GMs.
