Rising From the Ashes (CL)

It happens. :man_shrugging:. I am sure you were not the first, or the last that it will happen to for Doc. Might not even of been the first that day.

Thanks @EmilyQ and @shaneinga

No excuse I need to do better.

They called and made the appointment a couple weeks ago. Whomever I spoke with told me the appt was BS&W. Young person looked at me like I was senile. Stuck her in a laptop and said no appt for Jed. Calls the only other place in town. Tells me his appt is over there. I said no they told me here. She starts blaming “scheduling people”.

Go to the other place and another young person who looks likes she was still hungover from a weekend bender is at the counter, head in computer. I guess the first one called and said I was a bitch by the look she gave me. I told her I may be old, and I may be a bitch but I KNOW where they told me the appt was!

Once we get to the PT she finally says she has NO idea where the referral came from or why we were there.

This should not have been a big deal but since they painfully made him decide, on his own, which rehab place he wanted to go it was more than I could take. At no point in phone conversation was the other rehab place mentioned. All of my peeps who have been to rehab said not to go to the “other one”.

We watched an elderly man come in and do his rehab on his own hanging on every word we were saying. Poor old guy.

She told him to move is foot and leg, wait for it… just like I have. I made another appt for next Wed but she will have to show me something bettter at a rate of $72/ half hour.

I don’t do well when people under my protection are treated poorly or carelessly. My kids, my patients who can’t advocate for themselves - fuck with them and you’ll have to fuck with me.

Luckily my kids can be plenty unpleasant without my help now, but I made a call last week about a 70-year-old autistic woman I’ve worked with for more than a decade. The guy turned out to be lovely once I’d explained her situation, but I thought I was going to have to eat him for lunch based on her report of their interactions. Happily, not only was he helpful, but now she has a new protector, and this one runs a weatherization program. :slightly_smiling_face:

We hit mid nineties Last week. Zero humidity. We have plenty of shade around the house. If the up stairs heats up I sleep on the couch in the TV room. My brother begs me to move back to the Sacramento Valley. I would need air conditioning.

I can remember living here without a/c so, it can be done, but I don’t want to.
When mom and dad bought our very first a/c my Granny went ballistic and said it was “going to kill us all!”

I haven’t even been mean to them! No reason for this nonsense. I have taken the magnesium, drank tea, water, gatorade, coffee, even eat fricking vegetables
They’re just gonna have to hurt. I NEED my happy place.

Not the veggies! WHY MUST YOU SUFFER?

I just posted about cramps in the Burning Questions thread. Did you read it? Some good responses there. And apparently gatorade sucks. Maybe get a better source?

I wish I could send you the LMNT no one here wants to drink.

Yes, I have read it.

I know everybody hates Gatorade now but, it was on sale this week and easy to ice down in the cooler for folks that don’t have a sit down job.

One of my peeps has a thing for Liquid IV right now. I will check on different options when I go to the “big grocery store”. I know I am not willing to pay for whatever I can find here…
Everything here is double/triple price. Welcome to small town Tx!

Oh, I know! Without Amazon creatine and sports bras would be out of my reach.

I love Gatorade.
All these new hydrating products are just gatorade without as much sugar

If Jed ever needs traditional tennis/ athletic shoes, another option you might want to try is New Balance. They come in different widths and typically have more volume (the space between the insoles and the inside tops of the shoes) than other brands. Nike is known for having narrow, low-volume shoes; Adidas, Brooks, and Asics typically have narrower heels and wider forefeet; New Balance offers different widths and typically have higher volumes. I don’t know much about Reebok and Saucony, other than their soles seem softer and make my formerly crushed leg ache.

Shoes made as trail runners usually have stiffer soles and stronger materials in the uppers. Road running and general activity shoes are trending towards softer mesh uppers with strategically placed reinforcements in the toes and heels, which light work better for Jed. Last I knew, REI allows 12 months to return footwear in any condition, and Costco has a liberal return policy, too.

Thanks! The PT said he could wear the shoes he’s comfortable with. He is using his whole foot more now so hopefully she can get him to overcome his fear, and ditch the walker.

Clearly, not enough. lol

Why not? It is some tasty $h!t! Salt is my favorite flavor… lol

Nothing like flavored sweet to hydrate you!

Normally mine too! But for some reason I have trouble drinking it.

Maybe try mixing it with alcohol. :joy:

A good one, I hope!

When I get stuck in a good “next up" series a 20 minute ride turns into like 45.
