Definitely not playing the blame game here but this is why people don’t pay attention to the weather app here.
I understand the percentage is land area but they put 5% on almost everyday throughout summer here. Literally nobody pays attention to the 5%
But! It “could rain 8 inches in some places”… in the 5%?
This morning they had a 40% chance listed. Now, they expanded the flash flood watch and dropped rain chances down to 5% makes no sense.
It’s frustrating and people don’t even pay attention to it anymore. On July 4 & 5 th the warings went off so many times on our phones we just said… ugh! NOT again! And hit the button to shut it up.

Your stress and worry are completely understandable! Unfortunately, there are some breaks that casts can’t help heal. I present Exhibit A:
That bump in my shin is where the triangular boulder fell on my leg when crushing my lower leg and foot. That area was reduced to bits and pieces and required an external fixator (rods and wires drilled through the bone and held in place by a steel-and-carbon cage), two different plates, two reconstructive surgeries, and using an ultrasonic bone stimulator for a year.
I’m not posting for one-upmanship or to worry you. Rather, I asked the surgeon to put a plaster cast on my leg, and he assured me a cast wouldn’t be sufficient. He was right. On the upside, my leg completely healed from an injury that nearly required amputation. You can certainly seek a second opinion if you’d like and, although I’m unsure about rods, I know plates can be removed, per Exhibit B:
A smaller plate was removed from my fibula and, thankfully, replaced with a much larger, stronger plate on my tibia.
Depending on Jed’s pain level, you might be more comfortable about the procedure if you get a second opinion. However, I’m proof that a bad break can be healed through skillful surgery. And God’s divine intervention - I won’t minimize the healing God brought me, which certainly entailed a good surgical team and timely medical treatment.

Ouch! I knew your leg was crushed and you have made it through it. It gives me hope! Jed’s was a clean break and not many bone fragments like yours. He has a knot about like yours where the bone went sideways but not through the skin.
They had him scheduled with a different ortho then called and switched the appointment at the last minute. I choose to believe that was God’s intervention to get him the right Doctor. I have thought about a second opinion but it’s been broke for a week now and it probably needs to be fixed as soon as possible. We asked about a cast and he said if Jed was younger that would be possible but at his age it wouldn’t heal as quickly and that this will get him up and walking after surgery, probably with just a boot. He said the incisions would be small and the surgery should only take about an hour and half so he shouldn’t be under for an extended period of time🙏
Then he went on to scare me with rare side effects. My mind is an anxiety riddled hot mess on a good day. I don’t need to hear all that.
I just keep telling myself, God’s got this!
