Yep, I think you can sprain the larynx, and the throat muscles can seize up. Whatever you had sounds freakin’ miserable, so I’m glad you’re pulling through! And what’s the deal with getting sick in the summertime?! When I was a kid that was virtually unheard of, but viruses and bacteria don’t seem to be respecting the traditional rules of engagement.
One of my friends thinks it may have been the new “razor blade throat” covid.
Jed has been fine since he got over something a few weeks ago so who knows.
Mowed and weed eat plenty this week and wore my mask the whole time because I wasn’t taking any chances ![]()
And hear I was complaining out my grass being too high…
![]()
@TriednTrue going tag you here so I don’t clog up @donnerschweer’s log.
I thought this was funny after my remark about the temps. It’s totally inaccurate but kinda felt about right by the time I got done weed eating ![]()
The other one in the same house
I think @SvenG made the comment about the air being heavy this morning. ![]()
Not sure where SvenG is located, but we had this really thick, dead still fog until about 7:30 am.
The humidity (between spontaneous thunder storms) has been like a thick sticky mess with temps in high 80’s to mid 90’s.
Just blah.
It’s nasty here this morning too. No fog but you can bat the water out of the air. Pretty sure Imma gonna have to mow and weed eat again today ![]()
I’m near you.

I’m in the south hills. I’m sure the weather is the same no matter where you’re at in the region.
No way. Get some lights on your mower, strap a flashlight to the weed whacker, and wait till like midnight!
I’ve been getting up at 4:00 am so that I have a couple hours to poke around outside before I wilt.
You laugh but my neighbor has done this!
Musk doesn’t have enough money for me to weed eat in the dark in my neighborhood.![]()

Nope!
I’ve hit corn/rat snakes with a brush cutter (weed wacker with blade) before!
They would bunch up when we would brush cut hillsides at an appartment complex I worked at. Then, as you close in on the last little patch, they would all come racing out to escape.
Occasionally, one would get snagged with the blade and go flying. ![]()
Not as funny when you’re in the direction of the injured, angry, flying snake. ![]()
Yall got us beat. Make sure to hydrate!
Ha, that IS funny! At least, the irony is amusing, but not the increased heat ![]()
Mom wrapped a little rattler around leg once like that. It was so shocked it didn’t bite her, but she needed clean clothes!
Just want to say… remember that 5ft tall Johnson grass? Yes, it took several passes to cut it. ITold him the blades were getting pretty dull before I started. “Nah.” I think they thought I was just screwing around. He used the mower after that and guess who had to hook up the trailer and load the mower today to go to the shop for new blades?
He said he mowed for 3 hours and was wore out from " just beating the grass down" Do ya think? If the blades would have been sharp, there wouldn’t have been much left for him to mow. ![]()
Very stressful times here in Central Texas last week. Lots of tragedy, rain and intermittent flooding where we live. After one of the heavy rain showers Jed run down to feed the horse, slipped in the mud, and broke both bones in his lower left leg.
Finally got in to see the ortho yesterday and they will do surgery Monday. Dr says they will put a permanent rod inside the bone from just above the knee, that will enable him to walk on it and do rehab.
I know they do these things everyday but I am stressed, because he is over 18 and autistic, he has to make all his own medical decisions. I’m not sure he understands it all.
I am going to play the “old person card” here.. back in the day they would he put a cast on it and said come back in 6 weeks… lol
Sorry to hear that about Jed. I will be sending prayers and good vibes your way.
Our son is 11 and autistic. It’s definitely a challenge sometimes.
Thank you. Hoping your son’s surgery goes well.
It so hard to know what they are feeling ![]()
Very sorry to hear about Jed.
I will be praying for you guys!
