Thanks! They haven’t diagnosed any clots, he was just taking precautions thinking the afib might cause a stroke. We will see what the bloodwork looks like tomorrow.
No suggestions but I hope they can get things worked out for your mom. ![]()
Thank you! Me too.
Wishing your mom the best.
Mine is 84 and had had a few heart issues.
Parusing your writing I have a lot to catch up on.
Thanks! My mom is almost 82, hardheaded as a billy goat and mean as a rattlesnake when she doesn’t feel good. I know she’s not going to be here forever, already come to terms with that. It’s just hard watching the slow descent. Luckily she was feeling good enough yesterday to start bitching about NOT wanting to go to her appt today ![]()
Good to have you back!
Took mom out to the park after her appt to see the ducks and geese. The weather has been windy, cold, rainy, foggy cool. The sun come out today for the first time in days and not a breathe of wind. The pic doesn’t do it justice. The river was a perfect mirror.
Beautiful river pics and, even more importantly, I’m glad your mom’s doctor seems to be treating her effectively. If the manufacturer doesn’t offer a discount for the med, you can ask your pharmacy if they have a discount card for it.
Thank you!
We talked to her PC yesterday. First time I have actually met him. Let’s just say… when I make the next appt we will go back to the other one. I absolutely disliked the man! And his nurse!
He didn’t even look at the bloodwork until I asked about it.
When I ask about the labs he said… meh, sodium a little high, glucose a little high, potassium a little low, TSH is normal. (I want more specifics!) He had no idea what erythrodermic psoriasis was. Thought he was funny. Couldn’t pronounce the name of the meds. The list goes on.
I know our time is getting short, but really? I told him we couldn’t do the Eliquis and he prescribed Warfirin. And now she doesn’t want to take it, so she will probably lie to me and throw it in the trash. I know this game.
It is, what it is.
Taking care of our parent is not easy. I am in a battle with my mom at the moment because she say it is normal at her age to not be able to do some stuff but last month she was able to until she fell. And does not want to be trouble for us.
Yep! She said, I can’t even pull my weight anymore. I told her she’s been pulling that shit for 80 years! It’s no problem, that’s what I’m here for. ![]()
Hope your mom has a speedy recovery!

I think I am finally getting things limbered up. No screwdriver under the shoulder blade so… maybe I went about it a little smarter this time.
Hope to start working on adding some progression and more leg work. Going to try to sneak up on it ![]()
Good grief, I’d definitely ditch that doctor ASAP! Is it at all possible to take your mom to Houston or Dallas? If anyone here needs good doctoring, we have to leave New Mexico. Houston is one place New Mexicans go for better medical care.
Your screwdriver has moved on to stabbing me under the shoulderblade.
Thanks so much.
We will definitely see the other doc from now on, but no she isn’t going to agree to go to Dallas or Houston. She even refused to go to the hospital 40 miles away… lol
Oh no!
This is the trick, add a little bit each time and before you know it you are even more jacked and strong:
I don’t know if you fish much, but bass & panfish love cicadas. Pretty much all fish do.
And cats. Cats also love cicadas. ![]()
Haven’t been fishing in years but we used to go. The best bug bait here is when the grasshoppers hatch. You could catch a stringer full and never run out of bait! ![]()
One of my favorites is a hopper/dropper. A grasshopper pattern (fly) with a nymph hanging off the bend (dropper). Even caught a double once- brook and rainbow trout on the same cast. The brook hit the nymph, and the rainbow hit the hopper.
