Rising From the Ashes (CL)

I hear you on the cold. It is supposed to 18 degrees down here. I am like WHAT?!? We definitely are not ready for that.

Confession: I have listened to WAY too many action/ thriller/ military books. Everything was hard this morning and before I even thought about I said…
The only easy day, was yesterday.
Blood was spilled, there were bees, black widow spiders and a whole lot of cussing.

How’re you doing with the fixing and cold snap?

Almost done. Have one more project before it gets colder tomorrow night.
Cross your fingers.

No, I get it. We have the same thing with the heat where I am. I’m simply not acclimated to 85 degrees, and the small window unit we use to cool the entire downstairs, including my bedroom, can only do so much. Many businesses are without a/c, so they suffer, as well. No one wants to slide around in their leg sweat while they eat a burger!

When I lived in Texas, we all came pouring out of the house to play when it cooled to the low 90’s.

It’s all relative. Stay warm!

It’s a toasty 19° /11° windchill right now so, not bad.
Plumbing is my major concern. We don’t bury pipes 2 ft deep here. Many of the old places like ours, still have above ground pump houses.
Since the deep freeze of 2021 we all get nervous when ERCOT starts posting weather advisories
I have seen multiple videos of the HEBs and Walmarts being “wiped out” yesterday, nothing but empty shelves. People lose their minds. It’s only going to be a couple of days. I did all my stocking up way before that. They are now predicting a little ice overnight so we’ll see.

Haha. I came to northern New England from Texas, and had been south since age 16. HUGE culture shock. Water started running down our interior walls during an early snow melt because no one told us to clear the roof, getting the car cleared and warm felt like an hour of work, my gloves weren’t warm, and on and on and on.

When I explain Texas winter driving here I generally say that when it’s cold and it even rains, people just start driving into one another. I’m not sure why! But that’s what they do. I35 bumper cars.

Yep! It’s like they say… challenge accepted. Absolutely insane. They can barely drive when it’s sunny now. Thanksgiving weekend (no bad weather) there were 11 fatal car crashes in just the 3 surrounding counties.

13°f when I lit the heater. Between that and the fact that the Texas Death Ray is out today it warmed up to a toasty 38°

Wu= getting pissed because the washer quit… WITH my clothes in it, and smelled like something was burning :rage:
I have another one because this one has been a pain in the ass for years. The problem is taking the old one out and putting the new one in. Very inconvenient location. Any old way…

Let’s see, we’ve had hurricane force winds, sub freezing temps, and the next round is predicted to be heavy rains. All this and we are only 18 days into 2024:roll_eyes::rofl:

I read a headline about some giant groups of cicadas merging the other day for the first in 1,000 years or some such nonsense. Probably in Central Texas :unamused:

Mom had a bad day yesterday = I had a bad day yesterday.
She did finally agree to go see a doctor. I made her an appointment BUT! Not with HER GP. Cross your fingers she will go anyway.
