Rising From the Ashes (CL)

Have you tried knee sleeves? It almost sounds like your electrolytes might be a tad low too, but I could be off about that. Multiple ladder trips make me ache in ways normal activities and exercises don’t.

I have knee sleeves. Oddly enough my knees usually feel good.
This is a recurring issue. If it’s an electrolyte issue it must be one I haven’t tried. I have tried potassium, magnesium, vitamins, Surge, gatorade, pedialyte, gatorlyte, etc… The last quack I went to said to drink pickle juice (instant diarrhea). Hard run with your legs seized up.
If it were circulation I would think my feet/ankles would at least be swollen. Nope. The pain runs down my shin and makes my foot seize up. I am going to order the compression sleeves and arch supports and hope for the best. Oh, and stop by the redneck mall for more horse tape. It doesn’t happen every night but several times a month.

I get those and have gotten them my whole life. They just suck.

The only thing that has worked is a rolling pin up & down the muscle side of the shin bone.

Just not the bone. That will have you seeing stars.

Jed has one of those 4 legged massagers that works okay. Haven’t tried the rolling pin… but it’s worth a shot!

Maybe it isn’t shin splints: Chronic exertional compartment syndrome - Symptoms and causes - Mayo Clinic

Thanks! The pain does go away so it’s not constant. Today everything was okay. Hopefully tonight will be too, I never know.
I average around 18,000 steps a day (according to dumb watch) so it may just be an overuse issue.

Hmmm… Could your shoes be the culprits?

Anything is possible but I have tried all kinds. Everything from chucks and sandals, to boots. None of them have much of an arch support, so who knows. I ordered the sleeves, arch supports, finger exerciser and a new mini band. We shall see.

Haven’t found a pulley to hang my heavy bag but enlisted help from my sidekick.
Sorted out the chain, carabiners, and rope.
Packed the ladder down the hill. Bear hug carried bag out to tree. Got it attached, rope wouldn’t slip thru carabiner.
Lifted the bag so Jed could tie it off. Tah! Dah!
Jed even smacked it around for a few minutes.
Wraps and gloves then proceeded to beat the shit out of it.
Taking a break then will drag the 45s out for a few carries and maybe drag the sled for a couple trips.
45s 3 trips
Sled 2 trips
Done!

I don’t know if it would help, but I was having a lot of ankle, calf and lower leg pain/cramping last fall - so, I invested in some compression socks and wearing them has REALLY helped. Maybe worth a shot?

And I hope you’re feeling better!!
