If you can get hold of an old carpet tube, very thick cardboard, cut it to size and put it in the middle of the heavy bag and pack the old clothes around it it will definitely firm up the bag and after several sessions it should smooth out. Start easy to see how hard it fills for you.

Thanks Harry! I cut a piece of 4 inch styrene pipe to go in the middle. Filled coffee bags with sand and taped them up to slide inside the pipe for weight. Now, I just have to work on the stuffing. I have a 5 inch thick foam matress I can sacrifice to the Gods, or cut up a bunch of old jeans and clothes. I am thinking the foam will have a little more “give” to and not totally kick my ass.

Sandbags can also be used for carries. If you drop one, it doesn’t break your foot like a dumbell.
