Rising From the Ashes (CL)

When I get all crazy and can’t think, I usually just fall back on the good ole reliable 531 Hardgainer program until I get going in the right direction again. So we will see how it goes. I wasn’t happy with the bar path at all. This is the second week of the squats. I will probably finish the third week and run the first over again until I figure out what’s going on with that.

Oh man! Have you been watching me? I have a bunch of buttercups in my garden I do this to.

15 mins airdyne active recovery while I watered the potatoes.

Town had some good sized hail last night. We didn’t even get a sprinkle. Thank God.

Hopefully I get home in time this evening to plant some of the tomatoes.

Between real life and training ADD, it’s easy for me to get up on my head about programs sets, and reps. That’s good you have a tried-and-true program to fall back on! When I was reading about Super Squats, Google pulled up a thread here t-nation. One of the posters said he found one 20-rep set per week sufficient. If I try them, that’s what I’m going to do.

Have you ever tried the hardgainer program?

MT! You’re back! Long time no see.

I haven’t. Literally EVERY time I did a Wendler program, I got injured, despite using low training maxes.

Hmmmm… well this starts at 65% of 85% so it’s really light the first cycle or two.

That’s definitely light. What’s slowing me from hopping into Super Squats is 1) I’m just stating back to squats and don’t want to overdo hem and 2) low-rep squats have worked better for my hips for the last decade or so.

After a couple months of reacclimating to squats, I might try Super Squats with a super-light starting weight. What about Hard Gainer makes it so effective for you?

It keeps me doing something which is better than nothing. It’s more of a full body than a split. Since I have so much going on right now it keeps me honest.

Thanks CR!

Yep, exactly! Two full-body days a week are WAY better than nothing and can actually be very effective.
