Rising From the Ashes (CL)

Just to keep my focus and stay on it.
You know I get distracted and discouraged at times. I just want to DL…lol I dislike assistance stuff for DL. RDLs, good morning, swings etc… I have got to make myself do it. I believe I need to bring up my whole posterior chain if I am going to make this happen.

The sooner the better, but the more realistic goal is by the end of the year.

Have you heard of Dan John’s Alpo dog food diet?

No, that’s a new one.

These days, yeah. Starting off, I wouldn’t rest pause unless the trainee was comfortable with their technique under fatigue. It was something I built up to.

Glad it worked for you. One of those “so simple: why doesn’t anyone do this?” moments.

You set a deadline, and you either upload a video of you deadlifting 300lbs or a video of you eating a can of Alpo dog food.

I found massively diminishing returns after round 1, from memory.

But yeah, it’s the closest thing to a magic bullet I’ve ever found for my (admittedly weak) deadlift. I plan to run it again after I finish with the Kroc plan.

My dog really likes the Bacon and Liver flavor. How bad could be it? It says on the can, “improved taste and flavor”. Somebody had to have tried, right?

Yeah, tends to be how it is. Nothing can match the first go with it.

Do you have something written out for this or is it just in your log?

If you google “Mythical Strength ROM progression” you should be able to find a post I made in my blog. Also have an article about it on “all things gym”

Thank you! Found it, the link is good, but product unavailable, just an FYI.

Heh, I, for one, also think CL should do the Dog Food challenge. Combined with @T3hPwnisher ‘s DL Progression Program For The Clinically Insane.

Although actually, that sounds like a good progression plan. I would consider doing it if I didn’t think it would end up with me launching a vertebrae across the other side of the gym.

I actually came up with it to overcome a back injury. You spend so little time pulling from a full ROM that it tends to be easier on the back.

I am completely onboard with the idea of using deadlifts to overcome a back injury, having done it twice. Paradoxically, the worst of the two incidences was cause by a (max) deadlift attempt, and I basically couldn’t walk for nearly 5 weeks as a result. So, I just don’t know if I dare anymore. I have done a couple rack pulls this last year around 500 pounds, and each time I was like “nope, this is a bad idea”.

Whew! This is how I get distracted…lol
Okay the plan is…

Daily Dose first because I haven’t Pull conventional in a while so I can work my way up to the ROM progression thing for the clinically insane. Work on more assistance stuff for hammies and glutes with shoulders. Keep practicing the power cleans.

Then take a week off between programs and start on the ROM deal.

We’ll see where I end up. I would like to save to MMS for July/August because it will be too hot to do anything else here then.

Sounds like an awesome plan CL.

For assistance keep practicing cleans and power cleans and BB rows should be good as well.
Just keep the weights light and the reps crisp.

Will do. I usually try to have more rows in the mix than the superhero program had. Hope to put that landmine attachment to good use as well.

I found your training log!

My God, you are handling heavy loads!

Thanks! But not heavy enough yet! Ia trying.
