Riding the Line Between BBing & PLing

pull’n- we are going to do three weeks of reverse band deads as our main movement. tonight i worked up to a heavy single that hopefully i can build upon over the next two weeks. my hope is to hit 800 by the third week.

reverse band deads

405x3

315 standing military for 2 … WTF!!!

Also repping 405 on Pendlay rows sheesh - you might wanna jump on the thread that is going on in the Powerlifting forum regarding these - its getting pretty ugly, you might bring some sanity in there. Whenever lifts numbers are thrown around on the net, people’s egos get hurt.

Short and sweet indeed sir - Im starting to experiment with less volume as well and feel great - why stay for extra 10 mins in gym to do 4 more sets of extensions or lateral raises when you can go home, rest, and overhead press tons of weight the next day??!!

MEAT! Thanks for your response before about your auxiliary lifts. Solid work on the military press. When is your next meet?

i saw that thread. certain people make any thread they enter turn to shit. i do my best to stay out of most threads now.

short and sweet works for me…no fluff.

thanks for stopp’n in my friend.

565x dumped it… the strap on one of my elbows slipped as i was lowering the weight and it through me out of my groove. the bar came back towards my face and i quickly lowered it back to my chest. 565 sitting on your chest is uncomfortable to say the least. i decided to dump it to one side to get out from under it. my ribs are gonna be sore but i’ll live. we tried setting up in the cage for these last week but we couldn’t figure out a good way to liftoff. i think i’ll switch gears and work on pausing heav(ier) and then exploding off the chest until i figure this damn thing out.

close grip bench, legs up against chains, paused

225+ 100lbs of chain x 6 x 3

that’s it.

on a brighter note, it was one hell of a nice ride home on the harley.

How have you found working with Titan? Do you know how much weight is taken off at the bottom?

the jury is still out on it. i’m having difficulty getting used to it. so far i’ve been able to bench about 30lbs more than my normal bench with it.

seated calf raise

some x some x 2

feel’n good… bw is 242 in the morning.

What a diva, wouldn’t even face the camera…ts ts ts. Who you trying to impress with that back pal?

On a serious note - that was some beastly effort - good job hanging in there and locking it out. Good luck on the 800! I can’t wait to see it haha! Also, you should start training 4 days a week so I log in the BB section more often - it takes too much time between all your lifting sir!

And stop dieting for christ sake. I am up to 230 and cant even squat what you bench…making me feel inadequate here.

Keep trucking chief!

i don’t know why i was facing that way… i guess i wasn’t thinking about it. besides it’s not like my mug is all purdy and shit.

yeah… i’m down to 242 in the mornings now and that’s enough. i’ll start easing more carbs in to level off now.

by the way, you fixed one of my vids awhile back. it seems that youtube has changed things. i used to just hit “share” then highlight the link and copy and past. now it comes up as a link in my post instead of the video…what gives??

overhead press’n- i started taking a preworkout drink with nitric oxid and other crap in it. i took it on an empty stomach this morning. it made me very jittery and on my overhead sets i started getting dizzy when holding my breath. on my last set with 265 i had to let out my air early and regain my composure because it felt like the room was spinning. i was able to grind out 3 more reps but i felt as if i was good for 10 today if i wasn’t so damn dizzy.

anyone have an experience with these preworkout drinks??

Those drinks take some time getting used to and are much more potent when taken on an empty stomach. I normally take the drink, I used NO Explode , with some protein powder, which makes the sensation a little less. Over time, the effect of the drink will become less intense.

i used to take NO explode but it did the exact opposite to me. i spent have the training session in the bathroom. don’t know what that’s all about.

Those pre / post workout drinks fucked me up. I have pulmonary embolism (basically blood cloths form much easier in my system than in other people’s) and this liquid shit is filled with crap that coagulates your blood (a minor fact you can’t quite understand from the “ingredients” label unless you major in chemistry…). As a result, after taking them for good 3-4 months I ended up in the ER because my ankle had just balooned and I could hardly walk (yeah, it turned out to be a blood cloth).

My point is you don’t even know half of the shit that goes into those “drinks”. The industry is unregulated, a good chunk of the brands out on the market are pure garbage. The only thing I take pre workout and wiht me to the gym is a mix of protein and createine I mix myself (I only buy pure whey and pure creatine, no additives, no nothing else). I’ve noticed as long as I have a good breakfast I feel good in the gym (since I lift in early mornings). Since I dropped the supplements other than the aforementioned I don’t feel bloated and my intestines thank me. My lifts are progressing MUCH faster and I feel overall healthier.

So my advie is, unless you know what you are taking scrap that shit and eat your eggs and bacin. Your body will thank you.

I think it was Wendler in regards to supplements that said - look at a cup of protein powder and then look at a steak, which one is more awesome?!

Hey Meat,

I don’t recall seeing any front squat vids for a while…do you use a oly grip or a cross hand grip on the bar?

Or perhaps a sting ray type device for your heavy sets?
