Good God meat. As impressive as so many of your lifts are, those RGB videos may top the list for me, probably because I can’t fathom 400+ with a reverse grip. This exercise kills my wrists when I go heavy. Do you get any wrist discomfort? I’ve wrapped my wrists, but to no avail. I now only do them in the Smith with a very wide grip to limit the wrist discomfort.[/quote]
i described how i do them in the tricep thread SteelyD started. give it a try… much easier on the wrists.
thanks hoss!!

Took a look, and I think I am doing them pretty close to what you describe, with the wide grip. I end up with the bar resting almost in the crook of my thumbs, though. I can’t get it to stay in the palm during the whole set - the outside of my hands gradually slide away and by the end, I’m left holding it with mostly my thunbs.
I just think I lack flexibility in my wrists. I haven’t done these in a while, though; think I’ll fire 'em up again soon. I love how these threads can make you say “oh yeah, (insert exercise here), I should use those again next training cycle”. RGB next cycle it is.

casting the wrists with a good set of wraps does wonders as well. hopefully you know the difference between the wrap most people do and casting.
took a couple days off…
highlights from IBN.
reverse grip bench- paused - 455x1 +30lb PR from last week
reverse grip bench - touch and go - 475x1 +50lbs from last week.
next week we start part two of this bench cycle. hopefully at the end of the cycle i’ll be hitting 495 or so with the reverse grip and hitting a triple with 455.
Damn impressive meat. Thanks for all the videos and the many posts of advice. I have learned a great deal reading through your posts.
A question for you: What do you mean by casting the wrists? Does this have to do with how tight you get the wraps, or is there a special way to loop them to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.

no problem…i’m happy to help.
most people just wrap the wrist itself. this really doesn’t do much at all. casting the wrist involve wraping up past the wrist into the hand and down over the wrist. i start my wrap just below the last nuckle on my thumb, go across my hand and then down past my wrist. i then pull the wrap down in front to expose my entire palm. obviously this takes a real pair of wrist wraps and not something purchased at sport’s authority. the wrap above the wrist keeps the wrist straight and helps support really heavy weight when pressing.
highlight from yesterday’s accessory day-
finally reached my goal of a BW +100lb Pullup. i got two reps from a dead hang. i’ll stick with this weight until i can get 6 clean reps with it. my next goal is BW + 200lbs. unfortunately no vid…next time.
Congrats on hitting that goal man! That is nuts at your size. Nice work.
I have not posted here very much but I have watched a lot of your stuff it is very impressive. You also do a wide variety of lifts so I have gotten some good ideas from your stuff. Thanks for posting.
Have you adjusted the diet any? I know earlier you said you were doing 4 100g shakes a day, plus fish oil is that pretty much the same?
Well done on…well, just everything! Amazing lifts, great vids and you look so much slimmer. Inspirational stuff, man!

Is there a specific wrap that you recommend? My wrists have been hurting lately. I’ve been using a lot of ACE bandages and would rather invest in a quality wrist wrap.

nope… diet is still the same. still getting 4 shakes as well as my daily supplements. bodyweight is sitting around 245.
The big change is i’ve started using a weighted vest for my GPP. this thing is a monster. it holds up to 100lbs. yesterday i went for a hike through the woods with it, my dog and my little girl. about a mile in my daughter got tired so i carried her the rest of the way. so i basically hiked for two hours up and down hills with about 400lbs of bodyweight. needless to say, i was tired.

i use APT wraps. yeah… ACE bandages are crap. get yourself a pair of good, long ones… somehting around 36 inches will do.
highlights from tonight’s bench night…
started with reverse grip bench. decided to use a thick bar tonight… bad move. i pinched a nerve in my hand during warmup and had to ditch it.
the rest of the night was pretty good though…
floor press with dumbells- legs straight, very long pause
140’s x 12 +2 rep PR
140’s x 10
speed bench against bands- we decided to just keep adding weight until we hit a wall with the bands. i was pleasantly suprised at how high i was able to move up before the bar slowed down. i think i still had a little more in me.
0x1
135x1
185x1
225x1
275x1
315x1
365x1
405x1
425x1
skwattt’n on thursday.

for bench… somewhere between 400 and 500:) not really sure yet. i’m hoping to open with my last meet’s best which was 510.
Thanks for this thread by the way. You really don’t get enough credit around here. Its awesome to see your strength and progress while losing some weight.
I have a question for you now that you are at a lower bodyweight. Do you feel that the fastest way to gain strength and size is just to keep pushing the calories higher and higher in order to gain weight each week and letting your self get pretty sloppy? Or do you think that there is a limit to this and laying down more fat for the sake of weight gain doesn’t help strength?
Pretty vague questions I know, but I would like to hear your input.
