Ribose-C / Surge!

I’m experiencing great results with Surge! (and several other Biotest products). I’ve never tried the Ribose-C, though. I never saw any worthwhile benefit from either creatine powders (CellTech, etc) or other Ribose products, but having had nothing but good results with all other Biotest goodies I am inclined to revisit the Ribose/Creatine issue. Reviewing the various articles and info on Ribose-C and Surge!, I’m left wondering about how to properly stack both supplements. Ribose-C is recommended for “before and after” workout, while Surge! is recommended purely for post-workout. I’ve gathered from various posts that one should not do anything to upset the biochemical balance set up by the Surge!, which implies that taking both Ribose-C and Surge! post-workout is a no-no. So, at first blush it seems the solution would be to take Ribose-C before the workout, then Surge! after – but does anyone have solid data to show there’s an appreciable benefit to doing so? Put another way, should I just stick with Surge! and forget the Ribose-C?

You have a couple of options. You can use ribose-c before your workout and use surge right after then use ribose-c at your next meal. Or you can use ribose-c before your workout and use 5 gm of creatine in surge and forget about the ribose-c after the workout or you can just use 5 gm of creatine post-workout and forget about ribose-c completely. Hope that helped.

I’ve been using a serving of Ribose-C and Surge post workout, together, with great results. I think it’s fine to mix Surge with other stuff like creatine and ribose, even if there’s added carbs. Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be.

Ryan pretty much summed it up, but there’s another option. Take a double dose of Ribose-C before training and Surge after. This is what I do when using both at the same time. I think John Berardi has said to save your second dose of Ribose-C until your protein plus carbs meal that should come an hour or two after you drink your Surge.

Thanks for the ideas! I also spoke to someone on the phone at Biotest who recommends taking the first dose of Ribose-C as usual prior to workout, then the Surge! after the workout, then a second dose of Ribose-C around 45 mins after the Surge!. I think I’m going to try all the options for a couple of weeks at a time, starting with the double-dose-of-Ribose-C-prior-to-workout option.
