I ended up being almost in Niagara for work today (as in it should have taken me 15min to get to the Y), so after talking with one of the guys during the day and telling them I planned on finding someone’s face at the gym to use as a punching bag, he suggested I head there…that the laughs might do me some good. Well, accidents suck and my 15min drive took me an hour. But I eventually got there, apparently with an angry aura around me. Everyone was already mid-training and no one was squatting so they left me to warm up alone while I settled myself. Ended up having a pretty great session. But to be honest, I’m looking forward to my week off before the meet. I’m thinking of decreasing my training volume even more than planned over the next week.

Squats:
45x10
135x5
165x3
185x2
205x1
245x2 - suit on straps down, knees lightly wrapped myself
295x1 - little less than opener. good. suit on straps up, knees lightly wrapped by Glyn
315x1 - little less than 2nd. high. fuckers. I didn’t set my feet far enough under the bar so when I unracked I was already leaning forward and didn’t get my chest up again.
315x1 - fantastic! speed down, speed up, full lockout.

Bench:
45x5
75x3
115x1
115x1
125x0

We were going to try to go up to 135 for a single today without doing a lot of warm up. I just didn’t have it in me. Both singles at 115 weren’t that pretty, so I said I’d rather go for 125 than 135. I controlled it until about an inch off my chest and then it hit me and didn’t move. Reminded me of the Niagara meet haha. By this point it was just two of the guys and me and they laughed at me because they decided I’ll be the first girl that can bench 2 plates in a shirt that can’t even bench 1 raw  I love my boys.

I really need to work on my mental focus in the next little while. Strength is there and I’m only missing lifts because of stupid mental errors. Saturday is going to be a zoo at the club so since I squatted heavy today I’m only deadlifting to my opener and socializing. Monday will be shirt work. Wed may be light bench only or off. Friday or Saturday will be my last squat to my opener and shirt to my opener. Since I’m feeling a little run down I will probably err on the side of less training over the next week than more. As has been pointed out, I’m not going to get any stronger and I know what I need to do. I’m confident in all of my lifts but know I need another good shirt session to feel great about that.

The rest is about my mental prep. Two of the guys seem to understand how I work and what I need to hear to get me focused and ready, or what fires me up to make the lift I need. They speak to me in a way that works well for me so we’ve had some good convos over the last few days/weeks. Even after training tonight I got an email from one and a phone call from the other about tonight’s session. It’s awesome and extremely helpful and confidence boosting.
Do you have any idea why you get such a big increase with the shirt? Is this normal or just a crazy Courtney phenomenon. I’m clueless when it comes to equipment, but that just seems insane!

Anyway, your training looks awesome and I’m so stoked for your meet.

The guys don’t understand it either. Right now I’m getting like 35-40% out of my shirt and I haven’t fully learned how to use it. They’re not questioning it, we’re just going with it. I think it’s because I’m super weak the first 1-2 inches off my chest and from there I’m okay. I can 1 or 2 board about 175ish no problem, but can’t do a full ROM with 135. The shirt gets me through that point and I can just finish the lift.

You must have some wicked strong tris lady.

Or something  I’m going with the magic fairy dust.

I keep forgetting to mention that I currently have 2 gym memberships. It was cheaper for me to get one at the Y than pay the guest fee everytime I went.

I also got a new chalk box because my tupperware wasn’t hacking it. It’s a tin box with Disney Princesses on the front. And it’s pink of course. It makes me happy. The guys love it and now they all use my chalk. Bastards.

yes, it’s definitely the magic fairy dust then!!

Two more weeks. I can hardly wait to see you kick ass. Personally I think the Disney princesses will give you a 5lb advantage.

Is there a lifters list under construction? I’d like to see who’s going to be there.

WARNING - Don’t give Court too many compliments. Her head will swell and she won’t be able to get her bench shirt on. Hell it may throw off her balance in the squat as well.

No need to thank me Court, I’m just here to help.

You see if I used a princess box, my girls would find it (no matter where I hid it) and I’d walk outside one day to find them drawing on the driveway with it. I’ll stick with the cheapo plastic.

I’m going to ask Glyn about the lifter’s list when I’m down tomorrow or Monday. I’ve heard a bunch of names of people going down, but not sure if they’re doing 3 lift or push/pull.

The Disney Princess tin has made me the happiest person ever when training. I’ve added it to my collection of pink. They guys all say I should get a custom suit and shirt in pink. I think that’s a big overboard though… I’m sticking to black shirt/suit/singlet/dl socks and pink everything else  Speaking of which, I need to find a pair of pink socks to bench in or I’ll only have my pink belt on!

What’s up your butt lately? Quit pissing on my thread and offer some useful advice or words of encouragement. Jerk :stuck_out_tongue:

Went and saw ART/Chiro dude this morning. For the first time he had me screaming/swearing. He’s working on my internal oblique because my scar from my appendectomy (4 years ago) is still really fibrotic there. It’s causing me to rotate when I squat, causing hip and everything else pain. Additionally, I also mentioned that I’ve been getting some pain in my right upper pec and also have been having some grip trouble but only my right hand. He tested and it’s tight through there because my mid-trap isn’t working. Also, when I engage my chest, it puts pressure on the nerves into my hand, thereby causing my grip to go.

I have some exercises to do every day. In the meantime he dug his fingers into my armpit, all across the front of my chest, etc. I felt tingles all through my hand for about 20 minutes after the fact. I’m going in again next week to do it once more before my meet.

I started my daily regimen of ibuprofin and icing all sore parts as of today. I will do this for the next 14 days. I’m also going to be increasing my amount of sleep and be taking regular epsom salt baths. My weight is now hanging steady around 160 for the past two days so I’ve been told to eat more.

I also need to spend some time tonight either writing or making lists. I feel scattered. The lists would help me get organized about school and what I need to get done asap (like submitting my damn I20 form so I can get my visa!). I also know I have a lot of shit going on in my brain right now and writing about it always helps me. It may be weird, but I have to actually hand write it. Typing it out doesn’t have the same calming affect on me. Hopefully clearing my mind will help me get more focused on the task at hand…of rocking the hell out of this meet!

Here are some sage words of advice/wisdom (from Confucius).

Confucius say:

 • Don’t drink and park, accidents cause people.

 • Elevator smell different to midget.

 • It take many nails to build crib but one screw to fill it.

 • Baseball all wrong – man with four balls cannot walk.

 • Man who take sleeping pill and laxative on the same night wake up in deep shit.

 • Woman who wear jockstrap have make believe ballroom.

 • It is good for girl to meet boy in park, but better for boy to park meat in girl.

I heart you Steely.

So apparently a lifter list should be posted by next Friday. It’ll likely be on the Niagara site. I went down for my last deadlift session before the meet. Worked up to my nice easy opener of 305.

Deadlift:
135x5
185x3
Suit on:
225x1
275x1
305x1

305 is a super light opener. It’s good.

I then spent some time in the squat rack in my suit bottoms just unracking and stepping back the weight. I was only using 250 but did it a shitton of times. Worked on getting my feet set under the bar properly and unracking it tall and maintaining that height as I stepped back.

I’ve put some more thought into my lifts and ideally what I would like to see (to be modified day of by my coach) is:

Squat:
135.0kg (297.6lbs)
147.5kg (325.2lbs)
160.0kg (352.7lbs)

Bench:
77.5kg (170.9lbs)
82.5kg (181.9lbs)
87.5kg (192.9lbs)

Deadlift:
137.5kg (303.1lbs)
152.5kg (336.2lbs)
162.5kg (358.2lbs)

WHEN I make all 3 squats, my third deadlift will ideally be to make my total 405. That means two benches and this planned third dead will get it. Three benches means a 347lb pull will do it.

Are you talking about my total? A 405kg total gives me Master class at 75… are you talking about something else? lol

I’m glad someone else uses the term “shitton”. I have to explain this to people. haha

A ‘shit ton’ is just a bit more than a ‘nut ton’, but quite a bit less than a ‘fuck ton’.

Court-- nice pulls. Again, the women in this forum push, pull, and squat more than (most of) the men at the main gym that I go to.

Awesome.

Shitton is used very regularly in my vocabulary. I don’t really care if people understand me when I talk or not because I like the sound of my own voice and I prefer when people just smile and nod  Not really, but I think ‘shit’ ‘ton’ is pretty easy to figure out if you think about it for a second.

I went for dinner with my best friend last night and we ate a fuckton (thanks Steely). I also polished off a bottle of good vino with her back at my place when another friend stopped by for a bit on his way home. It was his first time meeting my mother and I later got a text saying “I understand you so much better now and get why you are the way you are”. I took that to mean ‘your mom is also a crazy freak’. It’s good.

Despite all the eating and drinking, I still only weighed in at 161.0 this morning. They feel that regardless of if it’s water, fat, muscle, at this point, any extra pounds I’m carrying will help me in 13 days.

Today was an off day but I went on a Costco excursion with my mom and brother (always an experience) and then went bowling. It was fun. I also was given the opportunity to try driving standard again. Keep in mind, I only “tried” it twice with my ex like 3 years ago. And then it was only in a large empty parking lot. Anyways, the friend I was with offered it and I jumped at the chance. Not only did I not stall the first time I went into first, I didn’t stall at all! We even ended up driving an extended block…probably 4-5km… involving numerous stops, several downshifts to 2nd to make a turn, etc. He was pretty impressed by my abilities and frankly, so was I. I’m still really excited by it hahaha. Oh the small things that entertain me.

All that said, my stress levels have decreased, I’m feeling good about life and lifting and am looking forward to a rocking session in my shirt tomorrow.

Whatever happened to NeelyDan?
Random, I know.
