Just to clarify this. There was a 655lbs squat, but it wasn’t me. But I did make sure to lean against the rack so other people would think it was me.[/quote]

Oh sweetie, I’m positive nobody thought it was you :stuck_out_tongue:

Just stopping in to say hi!

HIII!!

Good work lately, Court…
When’s the next meet again?

Congrats on the bench PR. Are you finding it easier to use an arch with the F6? Does the shirt rid up less than the Fury? I am thinking about trying the F6 instead of the Katana. I have been using a Fury but I have a big arch and maybe the F6 would be a better shirt.

Hi

The meet is on June 6th, so 4 weeks out yesterday. I drop to 3x3 this week for the big lifts and go down to 3x bench, 2x squat, 1x dead. At the end of the week I get back into full gear and cannot wait!

Thanks Claire

I did find it easier to arch. As far as riding up, it was my first time in the shirt and it was tight as all hell and also choked me a fair bit but I expect it will be better next time. It’s the same size as the Fury I was using, but Julie had worn the Fury for a while so it was a little broken in.

The F6 has a lower sweet spot than the Fury which makes it easier to touch for a big arch bencher (hence why it was recommended to me). I do know one of the guys that has a pretty good arch uses a Katana and swears by it though. Don’t know what to tell ya haha.

Went to the gym today to do some accessory work and “Court’s fat” cardio. I’ve been getting hassled by the Niagara guys about being fat because I’ve decided (again) to cut down to 67.5 for my meet and am uhhhh ‘not quite’ there. I hadn’t stepped on a scale in a long time after my meet but recently decided I didn’t like the way my body was looking. I talked to one of the guys about it and he said if I was 155 a week out I would make weight and by the time I was doing my second squat I would be back at 153-155 through rehydrating properly. I’m listening to him and what he says to do so we’re gonna do it.

I picked a bad week to start weighing myself because it was girltime so I was especially bloated and water retaining so I’m not really sure where I truly started at. However, I managed to lose 7lbs this week and that’s after yesterday which sort of turned out to be a cheat day haha. I’d been eating like shit and not drinking enough water so I cut out the shit this week, reduced my carbs and started drinking more water. I already feel better. I now have 3.5lbs to lose in the next 3 weeks. Manageable.

So I sucked it up and did my cardio at the gym after training. For the record, I didn’t realize I used 95lbs for everything until my last exercise haha.

Training:
Lat Pulldowns
95x8x3
95x6x1

Bent Over Barbell Row
95x8x2
95x7x1
95x9x1

Push Press (from the clean)
95x3x4 → The push press part was pretty assissted for all of them. I was letting the weight drift in front of me a bit and actually almost dumped it once.

Decline Close Grip Bench Press
45xa bunch
75x12ish
95x8x4 → The last one or two were assissted on the last 2 sets

Cardio:
On the stair mill (I love it and hate it…my quads and butt hurt already)
45 seconds work (100 stairs/min), 30 seconds recovery (50 stairs/min) x 10 intervals
I ended up walking up 1.3 miles of stairs. Gross haha

Thanks for the feedback. I want to eventually get a Katana but am not sure I am ready for it. I plan on using two bench shirts in my meet. One for my opener and a more advanced one for my 2nd and 3rd attempts. I hate opening with two high of a weight. My next bench meet I have to open with 225lb because I can’t touch with less weight.

I spent about an hour last night talking to the guy who is 1. helping me make weight 2. being the boss of my training leading into my meet 3. hopefully running my numbers and/or dressing me at my meet. He wasn’t around when I tried the shirt on Friday but says next Saturday when I’m in it and he’s around he’ll have an idea of what I can do. I haven’t a clue! I don’t even know around what I will be opening with for any of my lifts. Usually it would concern me, but I likely won’t discuss it until Sat/Mon when I’m down there lifting.

Claire - When is your next meet? Are you doing bench only, push-pull or a 3 lift?

So I have a few very random thoughts/things to say:

I feel like I got hit by a truck today. I’m exhausted (probably from lifting Fri/Sat/Sun and not getting as much sleep as I would have liked) and sore as all hell. One of the Niagara guys said I should work on my lats and tris for my bench and well, I did so yesterday. My lats have never ever felt like this before hahaha. My triceps aren’t too bad yet, but they’ve got that “You’ll be sore soon” feeling to them.

I was told by a coworker today that I walk like I “own the place”. I’ve recently noticed that I am now walking shoulders back, chest out, head high. It’s all due to lifting. It could be worse - I could be hunched over and look like I’m 2 inches shorter than I am.

Ouro forgot to mention that when I was putting my shirt on her yesterday in the changeroom and was yanking it down, a woman said “It’s like a tight pair of jeans haha”. I think it took a bit to really process what she said because I don’t believe I rolled my eyes. Yep… Bench shirt = tight jeans. Riiiigggghhhhhttttt…

I hate stepping on the scale twice a day. Right now I’m weighing myself in the am and right before bed. That way I can figure out how much I lose on average overnight so I know where I have to be the Friday night before my meet. But I feel like I’m living and dying by the scale. I have time to lose what I need to lose so I just need to keep training hard, eating well and drinking lots (of water) and not worry too much about the scale.

I’ve still got something going on with my hips that I need to figure out. When I squat wearing my suit bottoms I get much worse marks on my left (bad hip) than my right. I also hit the rack on the right side on a few of my sets on Saturday when coming up, right near lockout. I must be doing some sort of twist on the way up and that’s not cool. Ouro, do you have Phoenix Andy’s number/email? I know Aras trains with him some days so I might try to get in there when they’re both around so he can see what it is I’m doing.

And finally… Neely, come back. We miss you around these parts. No more forum hiatus… get your ass back to PW!

When did you decide to drop back down?

Well that’s an interesting question. The real reason I was going to move up was because I didn’t think 148.8 was an ‘easy’ weight for me to get to, even just for weigh-ins. I decided about 10 days ago that I wasn’t happy with the way my body was looking. I spoke with thehoiman last Sunday and he said if I was 155 a week out, I would make weight for 67.5kg.

We discussed that if I wanted to continue pushing myself, eventually I would have to move up to 165 as I added muscle. I decided that for now, with school coming up, I don’t have the committment to do that just yet. So, he has a plan. I am following it. And I am getting myself to 155 in 19 days.

You are lucky you have some great people supporting you.

I’m competing in a bench meet June 13th. It is just a test. My last three meets my bench sucked. I could bench 240lb with a pause in the gym and only benched 200lb at my meets. I think it is because I was dropping 8lbs and my bench shirt was too loose. So this meet I am not cutting weight and want to see what I can do. I am hoping to do a full meet once I get my squat and deadlift in the 300s. I’m close.

Piece of cake…errr, no cake I guess? You know what I mean.

I’ll be interested in seeing how he has you drop the last 7+lbs. I have a general idea, but the specifics will be interesting.

I can get myself to 155. From there he has given me direction as to what and when and explained to me the how. But no, no real diet plan. I don’t need it…

That’s actually really interesting. There’s a junior that lifted in the meet in April I was helping out at. She had just finished finals so didn’t feel like having to worry about weight, so lifted up a weight class instead. Usually she has to drop 6/7lbs. She told me that she usually only feels the effects of it in her bench. And sure enough, she had a pretty good PB (she’s still a raw bencher) there. I’m interested in knowing how not cutting goes for you. Keep me posted!

I played 2 hours of beach volleyball tonight in cold sand. It was nice to get back out there. Technically I should have only had an hour, but a team that played after me was short a girl and asked me to play. However, the best part of my day came when I got home, took a hot epsom salts bath and stretched. I’m now so relaxed and about to pass out.

I also remembered today that the only person I have to please is myself. Yes, my decisions may impact other people, but if at the end of the day I can live with them, that’s all that matters. I’m letting go. Deep, I know.

Well, technically they are right. They are calling me fat because I’m not yet in range to cut for my weight class. I’m training at a heavier weight than I should be by, currently, about 4lbs. I have to admit though, having several of them call me fat does not do good things for my ego.

The stairmill is awesome, but just can’t be done on a leg day. You can set custom intervals and I find time passes the quickest on that. I tend to use that whenever I’m doing ‘real’ cardio and not just warmup/cooldown stuff.

Now that, my friend, is funny.

If you do post a video, pre-warn me because I don’t want to see. Remember how I pre-warned you about the super nsfw picture I sent?
