Effers…the both of you.

I’m both benching and squatting tomorrow. Steve spots squats and threatens pregnancy if you miss and he has to catch you. Plus he grabs your boobs. He does make awfully cute baby girls though, so it’s not neccessarily a horrible thing lol.

Okay, so I still don’t have vids (I was training at Niagara, sue me) but I have more PBs!

It was unbelievably busy there today. Apparently there were 15 people total (Ouro, can you imagine?!). A bunch of people were down who are lifting at the meet next week and just wanted some last minute help. I believe there were 5 women there too which was nice. Lots of them moved around and did other things after they either benched or squatted so it’s not like we were all crammed in the back the whole time. Anyways, I planned on starting with bench, but a few of the guys were already set up using heavy weights and bands… Here is training:

Squat:
45x10x1
95x5x1
135x4x1
165x3x1
185x2x1 - belt
205x1x1 - belt (apparently this was my best squat of all warm ups)
Suit on:
245x1x1 - belt, straps down, knees wrapped myself
275x1x1 - belt, straps up, knees wrapped by the hoiman
315x1x1 - “”
335x1x1 - “”

I was tons speedier on my way down and had no problem with depth today. Overall, just had more confidence. Also, was taking the bar off more upright which helped with speed and depth. Only issue came when they were wrapping me for the 315 - the left knee was wrapped first and was fine, but they couldn’t get the wrap through on my right knee. It felt like I was there for ages. As a result, I have horrendous bruising on my left knee

Bench:
45x10x1
85x5x1
95x1x1 - paused
Into Size 42 (aka way way too big) Titan Fury:
120x1x1 (easy)
135x0x1 (I tried touch and go and it just didn’t happen)
135x1x1 - paused and had to fight a little for it, but got it! Yay for big wheels!

2boards:
135x5x1 (easy)
155x0,0,1 - They wanted me to try a triple. The first I pulled too far to my face and it didn’t budge off the board. The second I was a little further down but stalled partway up. The last (by this point I was super tired) I hit in the right spot, tucked my elbows, brought my chest to meet the bar and got it up pretty easily.

Everyone was surprised I made the last of the 155 after missing the first two. I just knew I’d be pissed if I didn’t make one of them and it was my last weight of the day, so I grinded it out.

Overall, great session. I ended up getting a Size 40 Fury afterwards from one of the guys and will be trying it on Friday afternoon there. Sounds like a lot of them are heading to the St. Thomas meet to watch/help out so I’m heading down on Friday to train instead of Saturday and will likely head to the meet to socialize with them then.

This is my back after today’s session. Most of it is from the squat bar we’ve decided because the loose shirt couldn’t have done that much damage. The arm marks are from the shirt. Not sure how I got that weird upside down triangle shaped bruise on my right shoulder…unless I scraped it against the bar when I was getting under. Meh, at least I don’t have to wear anything backless soon

And make sure if you have a dr’s appt you make a comment about the bar and the shirt, or they will assume you are a battered woman, lol…

I get bruises on my legs from waving dumbbells around, and it mystifies people … I feel like I’m going to have to say, “No, honestly, nobody hits me.”

(off-topic: kids get banged up all the time, but I think only a small set of adults actually do the kinds of activities where they can get bruises or scrapes. Anyone else ever had a skinned knee after the age of 18?)

I take pictures of my bruises, scrapes, cuts, blisters, etc. I’m proud!

Shortly after I started lifting, I noticed I ALWAYS had a bruise on my right shin, and I had no idea how it got there. Since I’m anemic, I was worried something might be wrong…until I went to the gym, and smacked my leg into the exact same handle I’d smacked into every workout for the past month…I just hadn’t noticed!

Lol I get these weird “spot” bruises on my right thigh and I’ve figured out it’s from when I finish my DL movement…

I too am proud of my lifting bruises. I have a photo folder called “Training bruises”. The squat suit didn’t beat me up much yesterday, but given the state of my back and knees, it didn’t need to lol.

I went back to the gym today because I planned on going Sun, Tues, Wed, Fri this week. Well, things just changed and I’m now training in Niagara both tomorrow and Friday. I better get some sleep and take a hot bath tonight or I will be horrible tomorrow.

I’m going to spend a lot of time in my equipment over the next little while since I’m having hip and shoulder pain. I don’t feel either when I’m in it, and it was suggested that I try to keep the inflammation in my hips to a minimum by using it straps down whenever I squat. I’m also shortening the amount of warm up I do for squat so I can get into my suit quicker.

Eliptical Warm up
Mobility

Bench (all paused):
45x10x1
85x5x1
95x1x1
105x1x1
Into very large shirt (42 Fury):
120x3x3
The last two sets were better than the first one. I keep forgetting that when you squat/DL you breathe into your belly and when you bench you breathe into your chest. Grrr.

Squat:
45x10x1
135x4x1
165x3x1
185x1x1 - belt
205x1x1 - belt
Suit on, straps down, knees wrapped loosely:
245x3x3

I got the last two sets on video thanks to Ouro and will load tomorrow hopefully. My POS computer has a virus or something and keeps giving me the blue screen of death. I’m on my home computer now, but my laptop is in this vicious loop. It’s my work laptop and I have shitton of stuff on there (pictures, music, etc) so I was trying to pull those off before I took it to my IT guys in the morning. However, I can’t even do that :frowning:

Oh and Ouro, I will load your video to your log once I can connect my camera to my current POS computer.

Let me know when you want the shirt. If you can get it on and working for you, you’re welcome to use it for the meet. If I compete in Ottawa, I won’t need it until right after your meet.

It should fit you because you’re not much bigger than me through the shoulders, chest and back. You will likely get more out of it than I currently do.

Sweet. I’ll likely try to get it from you this week sometime - even if I stop by the gym just to pick it up. I’m heading down tomorrow and Hoi is putting me in the 40 apparently. If they can get me in yours on Friday I think they’d have a field day for me. It’s a 36 right? What kind?

It’s a 36 fury. I’ll be in the gym Tuesday and Thursday.

Okay, so first off, here are my videos from last night. Not sure if the first one will load because it’s doing funny things in my profile. The first video is of my second set of 3x3 @ 245, suit on, straps down, knees wrapped (not very tight). I’m pretty sure it was high, depth, depth.

This next video is the 3rd set, same weight. And it looks high, high, depth.

Please note the pink chucks. They make me happy.

Headed to Niagara again today. Planned on benching and deadlifting, but the guys all had a short session and my body was pretty fried anyways. Going to DL Friday instead.

Bench:
45x10x1
85x5x1 paused
95x1x1 paused
Shirt - 40 Fury (ie. 1 size smaller than Sat)
115x3x1 paused to 2 board
135x3x2 paused to 2 board
135x3x1 paused to 1 board
135x1x1 paused to 1 board
135x1x1 paused to chest

There were only 6 of us out tonight… the two old guys, the fat guy and the two kids (ie. juniors). The kids were making remarks about one of them helping me get my bench shirt on and I told them they were too young. Instead fat guy sent them to get the boards while he dressed me. They of course waited for the show. Sigh… 22 and 23 year old boys… One of them got to take it off me though because the other guys were all busy. I’m pretty sure I just made his week.

I’m going to get Ouro’s 36 from her tomorrow and apparently there is “planned fun” in store for me on Friday. I had to change my set up again so I could get a good arch but not mess with the shirt. I also learned how to “lock the shirt in” when doing so. I also learned that I need to focus on keeping my wrists tight/locked or I’m going to get smacked.

 1. Arch, lock shirt
 2. Set hands (moved out a little wider when in the shirt), make them tight, no weak wrists.
 3. Set feet, push back into arch, make everything else tight.
 4. Take bar, breath into chest, lower 1 inch, tuck elbows, tuck elbows, tuck elbows, lower bar to chest while bringing chest to bar.
 5. Pause, push, pop, catch, finish.

Too effin complicated for the blondes in the house, however I swear it will all come together at some point. The 135 was moving really easily, it was just the technique we were working on tonight.

Damn videos don’t seem to be working. Here is the 3rd set.

Annnnddddd… the second set (aka Ouro has parkinson’s while holding the camera)

Okay videos are pissing me off. Anyways, had quite the interesting morning…

First off, my computer died over the weekend so I had to take it into IT first thing this morning. I ended up without a computer for 4 hours. Shoot me. During that time, a mini intervention was staged…

I was in the bathroom when I noticed the shirt I was wearing didn’t full cover my arm bruises. While I was checking them out, my admin walked in (as I was covering them of course). I then went and put on a sweater to hide them. Weeellllll I guess she said something to bossman because next thing you know, I’m talking to both him and my coach/mentor (who’s a female). They mentioned that I had support if I needed it, I’m a strong person and only deserve the best, blah blah blah. Took me a minute to realize they thought I was getting beaten. I had to explain to them the whole bench shirt thing, and ended up showing them a youtube video just so they had an idea of what I meant.

I’ve now realized I can’t wear short sleeves while I have bench shirt bruises. Not sure how many times “I did this to myself powerlifting” will work as an excuse.

I told NeelyDan they either thought I was getting abused or that I was into some serious bondage/S&M.

Nice squat Court, you should really do some damage in June!

(Don’t worry, I’ll come off with a smart ass remark later)

Hey now! I may be a selfish bitch, but that means good things for you! If I’m helping you out, I want you to do the best so I have the best bitch of the day  That way I can brag to all the others about how my bitch beat their bitch and how I’m a bigger bitch than them.

Wait…to many bitches. I’ve confused myself. Anyways, you can be as mean to me as you’d like. I’ll still help and still do a good job. I can be useful at times
