I was given the go-ahead by my physio today to bench and was told I could squat as long as I didn’t feel ANY tightness/pain while warming up - which I didn’t. I also focused more on just ‘doing’ instead of thinking while squatting and my coach was much happier with how it looked. It also felt tons better!

I feel my bench is going to keep increasing - already the 25lb DBs for flat bench are “almost too light” according to my coach whereas last week I was struggling. Also, I’ve been increasing my weight for CG and at the weight I did this week I only managed 4 reps my first session. I think it has to do more with technique than anything, but I’m okay with that. My weights will stay the same on Sunday for my upper body stuff but my squat will increase by 10lbs.

I also found out that I will be keeping the same format while my coach is away for 2 weeks and when he gets back I’ll finally, maybe start doing some singles. Since I haven’t gone through a cycle before it’ll be a guessing game, but I’m trusting in his 30+ years of experience to lead me in the right direction.

Nothing too interesting tonight… I think the four of us are getting used to training together cuz some of the other guys haven’t been around lately. Oh I almost forgot, I have to measure my quad both flexed and unflexed for my young friend who has an obsession with them hahahaha.

He totally has a crush on her. When she said she would go with him to the next World’s if he qualifies, he was all over that idea. That incentive alone should get him there. This is the carrot method of training. I provide the stick method.

Hahaha I was just about to respond saying he didn’t have a crush on me and it was all in your head. However I like how even Bill laughed at your comment about me telling him I’d go with him to World’s if he qualifies should be enough to get him there. Steel City party in Rio?

I was at the gym for ages, but was waiting for the boy to meet me, so I kinda dicked around at the end for a while (hence the rack pulls). My shoulder is still sore from Wed when the squat bar was digging into it funny. It hurts this morning like a bitch!

Last night I was in a rather intense mood at the gym, but when I was doing my chins/dips, the other guy from our gym that was in the same bodybuilding show as Todd (except competing as a male fitness model) was doing weighted dips. I was his assisstant to get the 75lb DB from the floor to between his feet.

Anyways, I decided to make him as awkward as I could and told him when he was onstage on Saturday night I was having dirty thoughts about him and it was a good thing the boy didn’t come with me. At first he blushed but then tried to play it off cool.

Then later, I promised to go to his next show (the top 5 in each category were invited to this follow up show in a few weeks) but only if I could grope him afterwards.

Then, the boy showed up and we were all walking towards the exit together. I introduced them and said to the boy “This is the guy I was having dirty thoughts about while he was onstage on Saturday night”. The fitness model guy’s mouth dropped as if he couldn’t believe I said it in front of my boy. I giggled because I had already told the boy this and he knew I was up to something by saying it in front of him. I had fun :smiley:

I also remembered why I will never train at a women’s only club. I did my ab circuit in our women’s only section because where I would do them in the coed portion was jammed. I swear I saw people moving from machine to machine, but not changing the weight that was on it. You’d think a 130lb woman would need a bit more weight on the ‘sex muscle’ machines than the 95lb girl that was on it before them? At least I don’t see these chicks on a regular basis because they would never head over to the free weight section.

And finally, I saw my friend the “I like to do my hair and makeup BEFORE going on the eliptical” girl when I was in the changeroom grabbing my stuff. I swear she’s always on her cellphone so I know way too much about her life. Last night I learned that she was thinking of getting back together (and had gone on a date earlier) with her ex that cheated on her multiple times. Now THAT’S a winning decision! (PS. I was only in the gym for about 2 minutes and I got all this info)

What boy were you waiting for? Not our boy? Is there another one? I shouldn’t make fun though. He and I did meet up one day at my gym to train together so I could try my squat suit.

How did the rack pulls feel? I couldn’t budge 265 off the pins. I still feel done in today.

And yes, I am a super rock star for finally finding the dip station and actually using in. I didn’t even scream as loud as I did the evening I was working the rack at Bills.

Yeah I do them prone on a 45 degree bench. And I only use 2.5lb plates. We did these when we trained with Alwyn Cosgrove and they are killer even at 2.5lbs!

The rack pulls felt like shit. I probably shouldn’t have been doing them, but I figured as long as I kept my back tight, didn’t feel any pulling/straining in it and I was arched I’d be okay. I tried to be a hero (hence my attempt at 300) but failed miserably. I think I must have been grunting pretty loudly (I had my music blasting so couldn’t tell) because I noticed some guys staring at me after I strained for about 7 seconds. Either that or they were just impressed that I even attempted it lol.

My chest is still really sore from Wednesday night. Maybe all this bench press will increase the muscle underneath and make us appear more “ample” than we are haha.

So far all I’ve noticed is a considerable lack of amplitude situated on some great looking muscle.

So our coach is away for the next two weeks. As a result, the boy wanted to wrap my knees. So, after doing 24 reps at 180, he wrapped my knees, I threw on O’s belt and another guy’s wrist wraps and gave 'er.

O got it on video (as well as some interesting pictures from today) and will be posting it soon I suspect. I really need to get my own equipment…will be ordering this week :smiley:

Hahaha this is a good pic. Look at his monster quads. Actually he told me today he was jealous of my quads. Why? I’m not quite sure.

So the reason I’m tying his shoes is because it sounds like I’m the equipment/clothing bitch for him and O at Provincials in a few weeks so I’m just getting my practise in in advance :slight_smile:

Here is the video of Court’s hero squat. This was after 3 sets of 8 at 180. We’re going to start a pool of what she can squat max in Niagara because this looked so easy.

Hahaha well he’s only 18…soon to be 19. But he competes in the 220lb weight class…and he’s not all that tall. It’s understandable that us calling him ‘boy’ or ‘kid’ threw you off haha.

It’s Jan 24th. Just belt and wraps. Hopefully my own by then haha. I’ll be competing in 67.5kg, open.

It felt tough, but watching it, it looked easy. Considering it was after a shit-ton of other squats, I’m pretty optimistic.

So I ordered my belt and singlet. I’m going to see if Titan has wraps at the meet in Ottawa. I officially ordered a pink belt. I am such a girl.
