Haha yep… don’t tell me you’re a goodlifer too? Have you been kicked out of the squat rack for doing curls before by some bitchy chick? Cuz that would be me

So went and trained with Ouroboro today and had an absolute blast. 3ish hours flew by! It was great seeing guys lift super heavy, I witnessed my first “Get him into the squat suit” party, and I loved having every lift coached and critiqued. Oh, and Julie’s pretty cool too

I feel I improved a ton just from learning how to do it a little differently.

Bench Press:
45x2x5
65x2x5
80x1x5
90x1x1 (New PR yay!)
97.5x1x0
80x1x5
70x1x10

DB Bench Press
30x2x8
30x1x5

CG Bench
65x1x4
55x2x8

Squat
45x1x10
95x1x5
135x1x5
155x1x5
175x1x5
185x1x5
160x1x8
160x1x6

DL
135x1x5
185x1x5
215x1x3 (New PR yay!)
235x1x1 (New PR yay!)

The beginning of each lift was more of a technique, and a ‘see what I can do’ sort of thing. I had all of my weights and reps chosen for me.

So I have a 5lb Bench PR and a 40lb DL PR!! It was nice because when I was pulling the 235 I heard people telling me to grind it out. I couldn’t tell you exactly what they said, but it was nice having form critique and support there.

I have to work on getting the bar lower on my back for squatting and pushing my knees out. And if I squat at my gym will be standing with my heels on 5lb plates to mimic my sexy workboots I wore today.

Honestly, they were hot. I don’t know how the guys didn’t jump me right then and there - tshirt, shorts, mid-shin length socks and workboots.

There’s a lot to think about when benching lol. My arch, shoulders back, elbows in, big breath and hold. I’m going to start training there Wednesdays and Sundays so my days at my gym will likely just be accessory work since I’ll be doing all 3 lifts on Sundays and Bench/Squat on Wednesdays.

All in all, great fun. And now I get to go play 2 hours of volleyball when all I wanna do is sleep!

Hey Court, I’m really glad you were out today and that you enjoyed it. You fit with the group seamlessly. It was very nice not to be the only one on my bench and rack.

FYI, you have a young admirer. Like that’s a big surprise

I am so jealous of you girls! Sounds like a lot of fun.

haha…i’m only there once a week on saturdays, normally i’m at union station downtown @ lunch

but next saturday i’m gonna put a 12 hour session of squat rack curls in for sure

But not only would I not do her justice, but I’d have to explain to everyone all night who I was:

See I was thinking it would go like this:

‘What are you?’
‘An unbelievebly hot girl’
‘Yes, yes you are.’

I pick this outfit, I bet RG would agree. [/quote]

So I relayed our conversation and showed him this outfit. He said I wouldn’t be attending any party in that ‘costume’ because if I were to show up at his house in that we wouldn’t be leaving…so I guess if I’m not in the mood for a bunch of people… hahaha

I’m also trying to convince him to go to Todd’s show next weekend with me. Something about seeing Todd in a banana hammock isn’t making him want to go…maybe I’ll offer up this outfit in exchange lol

Thankfully for you I won’t be there this Saturday…and Saturdays in general may turn into an off day since Sunday is a long training day.

Oh and as an aside, apparently we’re finally getting a PowerRack. If it’s in there in the next 6 months I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

i’d be happy if i could find a clip whenever i needed one

Check people’s pockets!

Apparently that’s where they disappear, along with machines pins and ropes.

I don’t think I have ever inflicted such pain on myself as today when I foam rolled.

It’s amazing how slight changes to technique bring in such different muscles and force them to do work they’re not used to. I know the pain post-training sessions will ease off as my body gets used to what I’m doing to it, so for now I will just try to suck it up and not bitch and moan too much.

How is your back feeling after your DL’ing? Mine was sore for a week, after I did 3x2 of 205…

My back is feeling great actually. I’m super super tight in the front of my hips (Julie - where you said you get tight), the inside of my thighs near-ish my knees, from the toes-out stance and through my chest from bench.

I know now that how I was DLing before would definitely have caused me back tightness. The 215s came up easy and I felt my form was fine in all but the last rep. The 235 I had to strain to get, but kept my form enough that nothing hurts because of that today.

The squatting down and knees out over toes position used for both squats & DLs is what hurts. I’m heading to the gym now to bike and do some mobility. I really want to work with light weights to work on my form, but we’ll play it by feel.

so in your unprofessional opinion, do you think my back was sore like that cause my form sucked, or because I had just never lifted that much?

I think a little of both…

Take today for example…I did a narrower stance db squat, and can already feel it in my quads…and have been doing back squats for months with a heavier weight and NEVER felt it in my quads… sorry, rambling.

Nah… it’s just a feeling I have based on the observation of doe eyed staring and staring and staring. I may have seen little hearts floating too.

It was probably the work boots!

O - I saw those hearts floating around too… maybe on Wed I’ll wear my t-shirt that says “heartbreaker” on it just so he knows… or I’ll have to drop the RG card.

Todd - don’t laugh…they were so unbelievably sexy. I can’t wait to wear them again on Wednesday! Just you wait though, soon I’m going to get an unsexy pair of shoes like O has and wear them to our gym. (Just kidding Julie, your shoes are hot…especially with white gym socks).

Ummm in my unprofessional opinion, I would say a little of both, more the form though. I think for me if I keep remembering to arch my back and keep my shoulders back and tight that my back won’t hurt the next day.

As for your quads, it’s because you’ve taken a different stance. That’s why mine are so sore today - because my stance was slightly different yesterday.

I’m feeling a bit better today. I almost cried again last night foam rolling hahaha.

Went to the gym for a bit yesterday - biked, mobility warm up, light stretching. Then I was feeling all excited so I wanted to practise a bit on my form.

Bench:
65x4x5 with pause on last rep of each set

Squat:
95x4x5 with heels elevated on 5lb plates, bar lower on back

My wrists are still killing me with this new bar position for squats. Julie said she got used to it, so I guess I will too. These weak little wrists of mine will freaking have to!

PS. We finally got a power rack at our gym. I didn’t want to pop my cherry in it only squatting 95lbs so I didn’t. But it was so pretty to look at. Todd texted me this morning saying it didn’t take long for someone to curl in it… some kid curling 65lbs with bad form. I think I’ll bring a “No curls in the squat rack” sign with my next time I go to deter any newbies.

where’d they put it, same back corner?
