Well with the exception of trying to start a fire in the microwave at work (but that was on day 1, so it doesn’t count), I was fine. I do a lot of detailed data analysis, so I hear you on needing to be on point.

I felt fine and alert… it wasn’t until I physically exerted myself that I started feeling icky.
Good to know.

How was sleep? How many hours did you average and did you have any trouble falling/staying asleep?
Court wrote:
Had I felt better and had carbs in me I would have gone over to the empty rack, put two plates on (after having already squatted, SLDL’d and lunged) and done a few sets of doubles with good depth.

Emasculating, probably, but I don’t care. I also felt like going over and telling them if they pinched their shoulder blades a little they probably wouldn’t need the pussy pad. And that they’d also get more out of it if they were to drop down to a plate and do a full range squat. Running Guy said I shouldn’t bother, so I was a good be-otch and listened.

Never thought I’d say this to a woman but . . . you listen too much!! That would have either shut them the f*ck up or, and I’m probably giving them too much credit, made them realize they need to f’in train.

You can only emasculate someone if he has some male in him to emasculate!

Diatribe over: You’re doing some great work; it’s inspiring to see you and the other Powerful Women movin’ the iron around like you do!!

I generally average about 6-7hours during the week and that didn’t change on this diet. I maybe got a little bit more in because after sports I was more tired than usual and was able to get to sleep sooner.

ZMA is my friend and helps me fall asleep. If I had trouble falling asleep, I don’t think it ties back to low-carb, I just have my nights when I have too much on the brain and can’t seem to fall asleep. And with me, once I’m out, I’m out. I was waking up to hit the bathroom once a night but was out cold as my head was hitting the pillow right after.

I’ve given the same video to a lot of people, so in that case, everyone is special.

Oh she knows about good sex, thats for sure

So it’s Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend and man oh man was it delicious! My body has gone into carb coma though and I’ve had a carb headache all day (we had our dinner last night). At any rate, I haven’t posted in a while, but have some training updates…

Friday - Day 2 - 2x12 60s rest b/w each exercise
A1. Stiff Leg Deads - 95lbs
A2. Tricep Pressdown - 45/55

B1. Bent-over BB row - 60lbs
B2. Seated Calf Raise - 80lbs

C1. Decline DB Flyes - 12.5lbs
C2. Standing EZ bar curl - 30lbs

D1. Leg Raise - BW
D2. Cable Front Raise - 20lbs

Saturday was a hangover recovery day and Sunday was family day. Back in the super busy gym today…

Day 3 - 6x4 60s rest b/w exercises
A1. Deadlift - 165/165/185/195/195x2/185
A2. Incline DB Bench - 22.5/25/30x4

B1. WG Lat Pulldown - 90/80x5
B2. Leg Press - 270x6

C1. Decline Skullcrushers - 30lbs
C2. Lying Leg Curl - 90/90/90/105/105/105

D1. Cable Crunch - 75lbs
D2. Seated Rope to Neck - 50lbs

I think I tweaked a little something in my lower back on the left side from deads. It still hurts and I’m a little cranky because of it.

Tomorrow will be a 4x6 day, Wed a day off and Thurs 8x3. I’ve decided not to play volleyball Thursday nights since I’m already playing sports 3 times a week, so I’m going to do my 8x3 this Thursday even though I want to move it to Wednesdays eventually.

Oh… any ideas for Halloween costumes? I have a few parties to attend and am at a loss. I don’t want to be sleazy, but I’d like to show off a tasteful amount of skin.

Bartl, you would say something like that haha.

WxHerk, I do know something about sex, however I’d been lacking in both the sex and carbs departments… I got the carbs from the banana muffins first therefore they were sextacular.

I haven’t done total body training in months… likely since April before my race and I was only training twice a week at that point…

The main difference between TBT and a body part split… with the split, you wake up in the morning feeling like a part of you has gotten run over by a small vehicle… like your legs were run over by a Smart car or something. With TBT, you wake up the next morning feeling like you got hit and thrown 20 feet by a dump truck, then he ran over you, then reversed, then went forward again.

If you were to pick a spot between my shoulders and my toes right now, you’d be hard pressed to find a spot that didn’t ache.

Yes, I’m being a whiney baby. I don’t care.

Training Tonight:

4x6, 60s rest.
A1. Bench Press - 75, 85, 85x4, 75
A2. Reverse EZ Bar Curl - 20, 3x30

B1. Long Step Lunge - 4x30lb DBs
B2. Seated Cable Row - 90, 3x80

C1. Military Press - 4x45
C2. Leg Extension - 4x120

D1. Overhead DB Extension - 10, 12.5, 12.5, 10
D2. Cable Laterals - 4x10

I saw an even worse display of stiff leg deads while being supervised by a trainer. I feel I should do something about this, but I’m not sure what…

I like to play stupid girl in these sorts of situations.

Take in some literature that clearly shows how they should be doing it, and then say - huh guys I’m confused, why doesn’t it look like this when you do it? Listen to the bullshit, leave them the literature. You’ve lead them to the water, if they don’t drink it’s their own fault.

Or you could just look away next time.

I actually mentioned something to the gym management when I was leaving last night. I am more concerned about the trainer’s laissez-faire attitude. Not only is he not instructing properly, he just doesn’t seem to even care. He just stands there staring off into the distant while these people contort their backs like they are slinky’s.

It’s a lawsuit waiting to happen… and when it does, the people who will suffer will be the gym members through increased membership costs, lack of new machines, etc.

I’m glad you did. I’m at the point where I want to say something but didn’t know to who… that’s two different trainers having their clients do the same exercise in two different, dangerous ways. All while they stand there flexing their non-existent muscles and looking around the gym to see who’s there.

Pch2…it’s not a matter of ‘not looking’. I’m not seeking out these people, but you’d expect a PT could at least show you how to do a movement properly… instead they have their middle aged, out of shape clients doing SLDLs on a raised platform for everyone to see with atrocious form. My back was tight yesterday from deads and I happened to walk by them while doing lunges and my back muscles involuntarily contracted.

Hey Court,

dropping by to see how you were doing. Keep up the killer workouts.

PS: How’s low-carb treating you?

Hey…haven’t seen you around lately!!

Long-term (ha 10 days = long term) low-carb is over thankfully. I lifted heavy tonight on day 3 of low carbs again but it hasn’t been bad. I have one more day and then I’m doing carb cycling again depending on which day of lifting I’m doing. We’ll see how it works out.

Spent a solid 2 hours at the gym tonight. Between mobility warm up and my 8x3…but the time I was finished, I was dying to get out of there! I love lifting heavy but four exercise pairings of 8x3 seems a bit much… I was struggling and a little burnt out by the end.

But, that said, I’m not arguing with Todd until after next Saturday cuz he’s beyond miserable right now.

In fact, he’s so miserable that I find it entertaining. So I went up to him tonight and stood in front of him and smiled hugely and said “Hey what’s up crankypants” and continued to smile hugely.

I don’t often smile that much, especially at the gym, but I was amused cuz he looked so pissed off. I even made a crack about if the pants he was wearing were from the kids department. He loves me

If I didn’t think he’d actually snap and lose it on me, I’d probably play the annoying game where I push and push and push… but with no-carb, 9 day out from the show Todd I think that would be a death wish. Anyways, onto more important things:

8x3 Session:
A1. Back Squats - 185/195/205/205/215/225/225/205
A2. Lying DB Tricep Extension - 8x15

B1. Assissted Pullups - Level 6, 7@7
B2. Seated Leg Curl - 120, 7x135

C1. Seated DB Press - 22.5/25/25/30/4x25
C2. Standing Calf Raise - 155/195/3x215/3x195

D1. Prone DB Hammer Curls - 10/2x22.5/5x20
D2. Decline Bench Press - 55/65/75/75/70/70/70/65

A few things:
Some guy was doing military press on the smith machine next to where I was squatting. He saw me load the bar with two plates and looked at me through the mirror like I had two heads.

After I did my first set and I re-racked the bar, before I came out from underneath it, he actually gasped and had his jaw open. Todd’s said before that girls at our gym don’t squat that much… apparently this guy was shocked.

Also, I like decline bench press. I’m not sure why. I think it’s because my ROM is less so I feel stronger. If I a) had a spotter and/or b) did this nearer to the beginning of my session, I think I could feel pretty strong with my pressing lol.

I didn’t want this question to get lost at the end of my training post…

When you squat close to your max (ie. triples), do you find that your hips tighten up? To describe where I mean, if my hands were on my hips, it would be around where my thumb was.

As soon as I finished my last set of squats I felt super tight. I warmed up well, both mobility and with warm up sets (even though they’re not posted). I foam rolled and hockey-ball rolled when I got home but they are still killing me.

I realized that I haven’t felt like this probably since I stopped squatting heavy back in mid-August. Any suggestions on prevention/maintenance of this issue?

I have nothing really substantive to add just a similar story. The other day when I was at my gym squatting I had a guy comment on the weight I was moving and asked if I wanted a spot. He meant well and was being nice (I think) but all I could think was “Yeah I want some random strange guy shadowing me while I squat so you can try to touch my ass. That’s what the safety bar is for.” I have had guys try to spot me like that but I can’t focus and that’s with guys I know. It’s too close. I can’t even squat any more in front of a mirror. I take my beach towel to the gym and cover it up.

As for being shocked about a woman squatting two plates, I’ve never seen that outside of a contest so I’m not surprised they don’t at your gym. You’re like my squatting super hero. Do you get a cool outfit? Next time I think you should wear a leotard when you do it. That would fuck them up

Do you think something like this would work? Obviously with a bandeau bra top or something underneath. Or should I just stick to a pink tutu?

PS. Julie, do you get tight through the hips after squatting lots? I feel like hockeyball rolling it all day however I think it might be awkward if my boss were to walk in and I were lying either on the floor or on my desk moaning and making faces…

Pic didn’t show up…let’s try again…
