Revenge of the Sith: AngryVader's Log

The Wrestler looks good. My girl and I rented Slumdog a couple of weeks ago, but haven’t got around to it. She suckered me into getting the switch any two deal from Blockbuster for $34 a month, and we’ve used it 3 times in 2 months. Solid investment. 2900 seems low for someone your size, but if you’re getting the desired results might as well stick with it. Good job on the sumos. Oh yea, if you want a creepy horror flick check out Henry: Portrait of a serial killer. It’s based on a true story. Haven’t seen it in over 10yrs, but remember it being pretty gnarly. It was also one of the first flicks to catch th NC-17 rating.

I liked Slumdog a lot. I only saw it a few weeks ago when it came out on DVD. It’s one of the few times I though a movie that won for best picture actually lived up to the hype.

I have the swap 3 option at Blockbuster. As you would imagine, it gets A LOT of use.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven’t seen that movie before, but I’m always on the lookout for a good horror flick.

Also, I’m sure your right the cals. I’ve been so all over the place with my cals in the past that it’s probably going to take me a while before I finally figure out how much I’m really supposed to be eating.

Sumo Deadlifts
135 x 4 - LOL! Seriously, I wanted to get working on the stuff that MMeat suggested to me. My ass cramped a little. I think I have a little better idea of what he was suggesting. Obviously, this is something I’ll be working on for a while.

Yeah, it is a very different feeling. I find I “get it” with the low weights, but lose it when I move up in weight. I also notice that if my hips are sore/tight/not properly rolled, I can’t push them through right.

My left hip/piriformis has been sore lately, like when I wander around. When I stretch and roll it, I don’t really feel any knots or even a stretch in it. I get the normal stretch and pain on the right side, but I just don’t feel anything on the left. Any ideas?

I’d say to just keep rolling and stretching it. If you’ve been using a foam roller, I’d switch to a lacrosse ball at this point. I don’t feel the foam roller is as effective at getting deeper in the glute as the lacrosse ball is.

As I’ve mentioned on my Facebook, I plan on buying a Econo Prowler this weekend to start using on the weekend. I’ll probably do sprints during the week and then the Prowler on the weekend. I might even switch up the order of my workouts during the week in order to allow for more sprint and Prowler sessions.

Also, I plan on starting my 11-T tomorrow. No better time like the present right?

Just how do you raise a donkey and a calf at the same time? You are so skilled.

What’s a prowler by the way?

So you’re doing MMs sumo deads to the knee too. How did your ass feel after that? I also did it at 135 for 8 or 9 sets of five and my butt was killing me.

You’re right. I am skilled. I like have The Force or something.

The Prowler:

I would love to have a group of friends that would push The Prowler around with me, but I don’t. My friends just can’t handle the workload. That’s why I spend most nights alone.

I only did the one set during my chest workout on Friday just to see how it felt and to kind of start working on what he said before my actual deadlift workout on Thursday. My ass cramped with 135 x 4. I can’t imagine how I’m going to feel after a whole workout dedicated to that.

We need to get everyone to move to a central location - say, Colorado - so we can all push your Prowler around. We’d all have much better social lives. Are you getting the red one? I saw it was on sale in orange a few weeks ago, but I try to avoid orange as a general rule.

My car is orange. What’s the problem :expressionless: :stuck_out_tongue: Technically sunburst orange, so am I still cool?

BTW, prowlers are great for a punishing pass of pushing with possible pukage.

Alliteration? :frowning:

I say we start a cult. We could get matching outfits.

Vader, that looks like it would kick your ass. You need to find a girl friend that will push it with you. That would be sexy.

In fact, I may make that the criterion for dating me. I could be like “yeah you have a bmw. Good for you. Now push this.” hahaha.

For the love of God, the next time you go to the gym, blast this and make sure people hear it:

Well, for better or worse, the Prowler is ordered (as some of you are already aware on FB  ). Do you think if I harass Dave Tate on FB it will ship faster?

[quote]AngryVader wrote:

Just send him an e-mail asking where it is. Tell him the last time you ordered from him you received your e-book immediately. Be sure to confirm for him that you are constantly checking your e-mail, but the prowler still hasn’t arrived.

Then post his response here.

Hehehehehehehe.

If the Prowler ships through CO, I’ll divert it to my home for research purposes.

LOL!

I should say something like, “Can’t you guys just like beam it over to me or something?”

Or have we not invented that technology yet? I’m I confusing Sci-Fi with reality again?

Monday 05/11 - Quads and Calves

Kind of a shitty workout today. My knees and back felt fine, but I had this weird pull in my right quad and it bugged me for most of the workout.

Front Squats
185 x 5
185 x 5
185 x 5
195 x 5
195 x 5
205 x 5 - Form was shit on this set.

Timed Leg Press - Each set is 2:00 minutes long. I try to do as many reps as I can. I HATE that I had to back off the weight on this. I countered by narrowing the stance somewhat and doing deeper.
360 x 27
360 x 30
360 x 31

Smith Machine Split Squat
115 x 8
115 x 8
115 x 8
115 x 8 - I just can’t find a third exercise I like.

Cybex One Leg Calf Raise
155 x 5
155 x 5
155 x 5
155 x 5
155 x 5

superset with

One Leg Seated Calf
55 x 15
55 x 15
55 x 15
55 x 15
55 x 15

then

Garhammer Raise
BW x 6
BW x 6
BW x 6
BW x 6
BW x 6

Cybex One Leg Calf Raise - Toes pointed in
155 x 6
155 x 6
155 x 6

superset with

One Leg Seated Calf - Toes pointed in
55 x 12
55 x 12
55 x 10

then

One Leg Front Calf Raise
55 x 10
55 x 10
55 x 10

The left hip is still pretty tight and I’m kind of getting worried about that. I’m going to need to start doing more SMR and stretching in the PM.

I take it you will be pushing the prowler down the street of your neighborhood?

If so, the only thing that bothers me about that is the long term wear and tear on the skis. There’s a rubber track at my old high school but it’s not too convenient to transport the prowler (plus plates!) from my place.

I think it’s probably the most badass piece of equipment you can order, though. Oh, and a power rack.

Yeah, you’ll have to let us know how the replacement skis hold up. I’ll be pushing mine on pavement as well…eventually!

I wonder how much friction you’d get on a rubber track? (Insert requisite lube joke here.)

PDL, why don’t you ever come harass me on my log?

Well, it sounds like you should be using the replacement skis if you plan on using it on pavement. I actually have three options for where to use it:

  • There’s a park by my house with a large field. This would be the most convenient option. However, the park is sometimes busy on the weekend and the surface isn’t uniform. That might be a good thing for the prowler use though.

  • The school by my house. They have a very long parking log that runs the length of the track. The parking lot is usually completely empty once school is out. Sometimes there are games on the weekend, but not too often. I’ll probably have less distractions if I use it here.

  • The track at the same school. It’s a dirt track, so there’s no rubber to worry about, but it is kind or gravely, so that might be an issue. There are also two large grass fields I can use it on there, but the park by my house is closer.
