You are absolutely right and thats what Im going to do.
Hey, I know I didnt post in a while. I want to tell you that I have tinkered with my regiment and made some changes that are more in line with what you and others have suggested. I have a question, what do you think of using clusters for max effort days? Its simpler for me to understand.
Worth a shot and try it out and see how it works for you. If it works, I wouldnāt worry about what anyone else thinks about it.
Pretty sure Christian Thibadeau has written a lot about using cluster sets for strength training.
Only thing I may say as a counter point just to play devils advocate is if you are intending to do max effort in its truest sense you may be better off with longer rest periods between attempts of 90%+ just so you know your giving it your best focused effort possible. Idea being to lift as heavy as you can on that day (with good form) and then moving on to the assistance work.
ā¦but yeah give it a try. It sounds like it could be fun and work well also. But keep your mind focused on the results: āis this working yes or no?ā
Thanks. This is much more confusing than I originally thought so I figured Ill try something simple yet effective instead of trying something I dont fully understand. I just now figured out conjugate isnt synonymous with Westside barbell lol. Maybe I shouldnt laugh at that one. I tried max effort a couple of days ago, I did some warm up sets and did 2 sets of one rep max but I didnt know if I was doing it correctly. It felt good to lift that heavy. Also the warm up sets are not good in the gym I have since the weights are very scattered and can be very busy. How exactly does max effort days go? What weight should be used and how many sets should be used? What warm up is necessary?
