I try and split up my cardio and weights days instead of stacking the two together into the same sessions, so I end up with a weights - cardio - weights - cardio (etc) pattern. Normally I workout 4 on / 1 off, but I’d just like some guidance as to whether this day off is actually necessary, or whether it’s just a missed opportunity to get in the gym and evolve myself?!
Read up on auto regulation and what not on this site, basically if your body (or specific bodypart) feels able to lift that day, go for it. It really depends on what sort of split you’re working or if you go the full body route as well. I suppose it also depends on your goals, if you’re looking for hypertrophy I would suggest lifting more than you currently do.
I fully expect the next poster to rip my reply to shreds though, so wait and see what other people say.
All dpends on your recovery. If your fully recovered from every lift then it’s time to go back and. That’s all there is to it.
The only time I ever take a day off is if EVERY major muscle group needs recovery.
It doesn’t happen much. Once or twice a month, absolute max just to rest and eat.
I think a rest day or rest days are great for you if your an experienced lifter or builder I say 2 days on a day off 2 days back on sat and sun off or 4 days straight 3 days off all depends on your workout plan and what your body needs…

lol… these posts always crack me up. The fact that people care enough to make these posts is entertaining.

Exactly. Who gives a shit?[/quote]
It matters because it’s the difference between his question getting answered and getting flamed. Questions like his are taken far more seriously and get far more replies when they’re in the beginner section. Both of you imbeciles are acting like I was insulting him.
