Just flipped through REPS magazine at the book store. It looked pretty good. Not a sex or advertisement muscle mag. Read a few articles, advised eating more and lifting heavy weights to gain muscle. Never read that in M&F. Anyone else ever read this mag? I’m looking for a good magazine to read that isn’t a bunch of crap. Any suggestions?
Yeah, saw this one some months ago while waiting for a passport photo at Walgreens. Good stuff, a lot of old school Arnold/Franco/Sergio photos, relatively few ads, and from the 10 minute scan I gave it, very little bullshit. I initially picked it up to have a good laugh because of the dorky title (I mean, come on, “REPS”?), but found the content to be quite solid.

Sounds like the old Muscle Media before they started all that physique contest stuff. When that used to come out, I practically sat down and ate it with a knife and fork, loads of info.

Give it time; They’ll need money and eventually fuck it up. But maybe not! Until then, enjoy. I will look for this one next time I’m out n’ about.
Mags like “Reps”, “FitnessRX” etc. appear to be trying to caputure that market that they feel is “between” say “Men’s Health” and “FLEX”; in other words, the guy who wants serious muscle, but doesn’t want to be a freak like the Pro Bodybuilders.
“Muscle and Fitness” seemed to be tapping into this market before anyone else. I think they all are pretty good.
Time will tell if there is a market. “Men’s Health” continues to be the market leader for men’s general fitness Mags.

I like REPS, lots of good info even for a newbie like myself. I find it easy to read and understand and also inspiring in reference to the interviews and photos. IMO it’s a good mag. I’ve checked them all out and REPS is one of the best I’ve read. I like that they give some solid nutrition tips and reciepes. The last issue of Reps I have had an article in it something like Eat like a body builder, great stuff if you’re a newbie like me I would say. The more expereienced guys would probably breeze through it to the interviews and research articles. Pick up a copy, it’s worth the 5 bucks.
My wife bought me a subscription to “Men’s Fitness” thinking it was a good lifting magazine (it was one of those high school kids selling subscriptions door-to-door). Got my first issue last week. What a bunch of crap! All porn, advertisements, product endorsements (best bike trails, trail bike, best watch…) and one or two beginner-level “fitness” articles with the skinny ripped dude doing db curls with 25lbs promising mounds of muscle.
I had to throw it away because I don’t want my 8 year old son to read it. I mean the magazine literally has a “best porn of the month” section. Oh yes, this is what fitness is about. Watch porn, buy a $1000 bicycle, and lift 25lbs 10 times. Crap!

Well crap no wonder I’m not progressing as fast as I want, I’ve been doing it all wrong!
One word, MILO. No ads inside. Great articles. Coverage of loads of events from all strength sports.

I subscribed to it, and am waiting on my first issue. It does seem like it is something for us “regular guys” to devour with out 1000 ads! I seriously go through M&F and MM and rip out all the ads before I try to read it!
Any idea on how often Reps comes out?
