Renegade for Soccer

Coach, I have your Renegade Training Football book and was thinking about using a lot of the linear and later speed exercises, and agility stuff with my 17 year old brother who plays varsity soccer. I should mention that I will also implement work capacity movements to improve the wheel of conditioning aspect as well as focusing on dynamic range of motion and flexibility. Just wanted to check to see if most of those agility movements would be good for soccer. Any things I could add to this?

Also, where do I purchase the cones pictured in the book that are used for the agility drills?

A variety of other exercises that I will eventually go through in an upcoming Soccer book but the Football book is a great start. For now - lets try to work on being more upright in the ladder drills then shown in the football book and work on dribbling through the cones as well. Are you familiar with the concept of using either side of the “laces”. The cones can be purchased through performbetter.com In faith, Coach Davies

Coach, I was looking at purchasing your soccer workout, how much of the material that will be presented in the book will also be in your sport-specific workouts? I have implemented your complexes with some of my athletwith great results, and I am looking at putting my entire j.v. and freshmen teams on the soccer workout. Any advice? I’m still trying to get the athletic department to purchase this, but if I don’t get an answer by Friday, I’m just going to pony up myself. Should I wait for the book?

Thanks Coach for you quick response. I appreciate the help. I’m not familiar with the concept of usine either side of laces so maybe you can enlighten me. I read in your book about a home method of making an agility ladder. Could you elaborate on that? It seems pretty expensive to shell out $75 for a ladder that I could make for a lot less. As far as remaining more upright for the ladder drills for soccer, is that because you feel the game is played more standing up? My brother plays defense and it seems a slight bend in the knees (45 degrees or above maybe) would be advantageous for his position. One more question, would you think it to be a good idea to alternate dribbling and running for those cone drills. Thanks for any help you can provide. I look forward to your soccer book. I hope its out soon!!

Coach, I checked at performbetter for those cones. They have two sizes of hurdle cones 12" and 18" and two sizes of poles 39" and 60". I wasn’t sure which ones I should get but it looks like the ones in your book are the 12" cones and 39" poles. Thanks for the help again.

Please email asap so that we can get your athletes prepared properly. For yourself or any coach NEVER hesitate contacting me personally. I would suggest you look to the Football book and we can make some adjustments as the next book I release is on Xtreme Sports. I look forward to hearing from you. In faith, Coach Davies

There are many modifications with ladder work for soccer training. I think the cones I used were the 12inch model as you noted. While ladders can be built with nylon / pvc - the Perform Better model is constructed so it attaches to a handle and doesn’t tangle (something to consider). I hope that assists you.
