Remember Charles Poliquin? So much new info on weightlifting and nutrition since ‘the Poliquin Principles’ I haven’t heard much about him in a while. I think he writes for musclemag or some garbage like that. I wonder if he updates his training methods. Just a passing thought.
I was at a seminar with him this weekend. Yes, he updates his theories all the time.
Hey, Sully.
Whats the latest from CP? What was the seminar about?
So sully he is the secret to your success at eating fast food yet not gaining weight and gaining strength at the same time?
I swear some one posts this same fucking question every fucking week…
Sully, was that the Myofascial Stretching Seminar?
Hehe, I think my parents were the “secret” to not getting totally fat while eating Burger king. Though, I have cleaned up my diet lately and I am getting pretty damn lean.
Yeah, it was the Myofascial Stretching seminar with Guy Voyer. Very in depth, I learned a lot.
I was planning on showing up for that seminar, but as its a long trip from Israel, I guess I’ll try to combine a CP seminar with my ART certification at Jan.
Sully, sharing is a beautifull thing…
hinthint*
is that the stretching of the “sack” around the muscles? as in passive loaded stretching? thats applicale for mass gains only or for something else as well?
S-man
Tantrum-Waaaaay too complicated to teach on the internet. It’s all hands on stuff, so you can’t do it on the net.
Glute-Yeah, it’s good for flexibility too though. I was stretching muscles I never knew existed. Ever try to stretch your pectineus? lol
How much does a myofascial stretching seminar cost?
Sully, whats the use of myofascial stretching, if according to current data, its the CNS which is the bottles neck in flexibility?
As I get it, there are no short muscles or fascia, only the CNS which contracts and doesnt let us reach a bigger ROM. Thats why PNF, passive loaded and dynamic stretching works much better than static stretching. (Reseting the various proprioceptors, and teaching the muscles that a greater ROM is ok and wont lead to injury, as well as strengthening the muscles at the increased ROM - which should lead also down the line to increased flexibility)
I’m missing something here, I’m sure.
Ido.
Who’s this Charles Poliquin guy?
And another of John Parillos 15 yr old theories comes out of the closet
Kelly,
Whos John Parillos? Whatdya mean?
You are right about the John Parillo reference. I hadn’t heard about that guy in a long time. Wasn’t he the one that believed in 10,000+ KCal diets, lots of aerobics, lots of MCT’s, and myofascial release stretching?
Starting back about 15 years ago Parillo has always advocated lots of myofascial stretching in his routines. He believed if one could stretch the fascial tissue it would allow the muscle beneath it to grow. He even sells special devices kind’ve like machines that are used just for fascial stretches. The concept has never really caught on though but now it looks like it is.
Another of his recommendations is lots of MCT oil which has seemed to be making a comeback in some circles.
