I wish my hands when locked out for a Deadlift are hips about where my pockets are on my blue jeans so I have a long as hell way to pull. Which is why I have switched to sumo and am really starting to see some big strength gains from it
Oh damn, you have an extra 6 inches to pull compared to me. The bar stops at my rectus femoris/mid thigh.

Which makes a massive difference in how hard it actually taxes my system. That’s why if you go back through my log the last time I pulled anything heavy from the floor was almost 2 and half months ago where I pulled 535. Not sure what I’m pulling now but 500 for 6 makes me confident its close 560 maybe more
Front Squat up to 365 for 3 sets of 3.
25mins incline treadmill Cardio went home.
This the 500lbs for 6 off a 4in Block from last Thursday. Have had bad internet connection so sorry for the delay to any one who was interested in seeing.
Back Squat:
1x8 with 45
1x8 with 95
1x5 with 135
1x5 with 185
1x5 with 225
1x5 with 275
1x5 with 315
1x5 with 365 in knee wraps
5x5 with 405 with knee wraps. I went honestly all out on these trying to kill it. 5 mins rest between each set moving the bar as fast as possible.
Hanging Leg Raise: 3 sets of 25
You’re training with Sam Byrd right? You mind laying out your training? I’m really interested after reading his “Squatting Big” article over on jts.

I would but I cant please take no offense to this. Sam is working on a E Book right now and the program he we are running is the exact model of his E Book and if his book or programming got put out there for free before his book after he killed me he would kill me again. Sam is planning to start online training very very soon for a very reasonable price and I will be glad to give you the information to contact him once he starts and then you can get it directly from him. I seriously mean no offense at all but, hopefully you understand why he would be pretty upset with me if I gave out the meat and potatoes 0f his program. How ever as you can get from this log ( Sam knows about and frequents this log ) is the split.
Sunday- Heavy or Speed Squats completely off feel of last week, Deadlift assistance, Abs, Upper Back
Tuesday- Heavy or Speed Bench, Upper Back, Triceps, and Biceps only to keep elbow and shoulder pain at bay.
Thursday- Occasional Front Squat, Deficit or Elevated Deadlift, Upper Back, and Core.
That’s it seriously nothing out of the ordinary in the set up. The magic here all comes from the programming and believe it or not some relatively simple linear progression combined with speed work and a piss load of mobility work. But that is for Sam to explain in detail either through his Book or Online Coaching.
Wish I could lay it out more than this and I apologize if it is not enough to satisfy but, I wont compromise any chance he has to make his profit.
Heavy Deadlift only and go home.
Was inspired by DSSG 20lbs PR so I had to go for it as well. worked up 550lbs and a single 20lbs PR Deadlift 50lbs Conventional Deadlift. This was the first time I have pulled Conventional in months but, my hips and glutes were so tight from the 405lbs 5x5 Squats on Tuesday I couldn’t even almost get into position and to make matters worse these plates are easily a full inch shorter ( haha that’s what she said ) than what I pull from at TSF and a piss poor extra thick no knurling “bar” so I am very happy with this. After a weeks rest and some adrenaline 575 for sure would have went and I strongly feel if I was able to get into sumo position I would have added some pounds. Not sure if that’s a hitch or considered ramping there was no negative movement of the bar and no locking or unlocking of the knee or shoulders.
Lastly yes I was being a douche bag and threw the weight down because some bitch said something about trying to set it down easier and if I couldn’t set it down without a sound it was to heavy so I set it down gently for her. Also the show at the end was for some ass hole in my class today who said I couldn’t deadlift 500 with a suit, monstrous hitching, barefoot with straps so this is for you ass hole ;-).
PS I just wanted to complain a bit ![]()
Nice, and it was a 30 pound pr, Reed.
I’ll get a video up as soon as I find the phone I recorded it on. I am not sure if it looks worse than your deadlift. The lift came up clean, but I either thought “damn this is heavy” or “Fuck, my grip is giving out” and lowered it the moment I locked the deadlift out.

Aww my apologies man well I guess I suck now. Haha if your Deadlift looked worse than that I would nit even post it haha
That’s perfectly understandable man. Thanks for taking the time to write that out.
Can you give me a critique on my new squat PR/weaknesses? I know I screwed up my walkout horribly, and I probably lost some pounds from that.
Quote my message for the link to my squat.
Am out with Kristi for dinner and a movie will watch asap

Nice job dude! I saw the wife’s post, she’s doing good also. Gave her some thought on her finish but she looks freakin strong through the entire movement.

Thanks man. She is definitely catching on to squatting very fast and honestly once she gets used to the knee wraps I think she will look even better. Really hoping for 230+ squat for her at her first meet she wants double body weight but, all the stars would have to align perfectly for that but you never know I guess.
