Recomp Cycle Suggestions

Hey, I’m on the lookout for a Recomp cycle. Currently doing TRT with 150mg of Test-C per week. I’ve done a few cycles before, with the last one in early 2022. I’m 5’6, 165lbs, around 18% body fat. Just want to add some mass and maybe lean down a bit, like 15%, but wanna add some mass even if I don’t lean down just don’t wanna pack on extra body fat. Thanks in advance,

TRT at 150mg/wk should be enough to cut down without losing much beneficial tissue. If you want to cycle there are so many options out there. What did you do before?

It was for a bodybuilding show did a bulking cycle for 8 weeks Test C 500mg Eq 500mg T bol 25mg then cruised for 8 weeks then did a 12 week cutting cycle Test P 700mg then Masteron-A 700mg then Tren A 300mg then Anavar 40mg
Til about 4 weeks out the switched to winstrol also on T3 clen arimidex most extreme cycle I was ever on but got on stage at 162lbs at 5% body fat by far the best shape I have or will ever be in. It was a bucket list deal. Now just wanna gain a little size don’t need to be super lean just kinda stalled where I am size wise I can lean out if I want but can’t stay at 165lb when I do so just trying to get to 170lb at the same body fat and just haven’t been able to do it just on trt with out getting more body fat and I don’t think 18% is very lean at all

So how did you go from 162lbs at 5% to 165lbs at 18%. Thats quite the fall from grace. BF % looks different on different frames. I look quite well at 15% which is where I sit most of the year. Since you’ve run Tren before, thats going to be KING when it comes to your goals. However its also harsh. I built most of my physique with just increasing Test Cyp for a period of time and thats by far the safest route. Its a personal choice my friend.

Your goals dont require to change anything in your steroid regimen. If 150mgs/wk keeps you in a good high-ish level, losing 3% of bodyfat wont take long, and then you just switch to some good old strength training with a small caloric surplus.

What were your calories/weight/bodyfat: a month ago / two months ago / three months ago?

165lbs at 5% to 165lbs at 18% is a strange shift in composition. Did you stop going to the gym for awhile, maybe injured?

Dropping 3% bodyfat at that weight is a breeze: 17,500 calories is not alot to expend/remove from maintenance over 4 weeks.


Here is at the show in 2021 and now or last week to be exact simply lost some muscle mass and gain some fat and just looking to put on some mass not too concerned about the body fat. It would be nice to come down a bit but ok just putting on back some mass but do not wanna take what I had to take for the show.

I don’t think you were 5% in the show photo. Not taking a shot, you looked great, but that is not what I think of for 5%. I’d say 7-8%.

I don’t think your current photo shows 18% BF as well. It isn’t super lean, but you have ab outline (and it appears you are not under top lighting). I’d put you more like 15%.

I’d agree with others that just staying on TRT protocol and cutting makes more sense. If your set on doing a blast, I’d recommend you cut past where you want to be, then do a blast and grow into the body fat % you want. You may be able to get away with as little as a few hundred extra mgs of Test, since you will have muscle memory on your side, and a body that is ready to grow.

You may be correct about the 5% I always thought I was closer to 7% but the inbody scanner at the gym said 5% and it’s the same one saying 18% now but I take them all with a grain of salt kinda just use the scale and how I look as a gauge weather I need to lean out or gain some mass. And yea thinking of upping to like 300mg a week with arimidex on hand in case I need it. Thinking 8 weeks would like to gain up to 175lbs on it then try to remain at 170lbs not sure if that’s possible because prior to ever being on trt would take me a year to gain 2-4 pounds of muscle not just fat or water weight.

At least for me, these have been all over the place.

If you are already on TRT, why not do more like 12 weeks? As far as risks, I don’t think there is much difference between 300 and 400 or even 500 mg/wk. I’d just do 400-500 mg/wk for a bit longer. That way you don’t have to cram so much food in and will have a bit cleaner gains. I’d think 170 lbs maintained after is totally reasonable in that scenario.

The thing is with 300 mg/wk, you are only adding in a tiny bit more. It is going to take several weeks to even notice anything at all. At least for me, I don’t think I’d start noticing gains until about 6 weeks since I’d only be adding 140 mg/wk.

Similar for me. TBH, even doing Test blasts, I don’t blow up like I assumed I would. I’ve not used big doses or very many things (only injectable I’ve used is Test, and I’ve used Var and Tbol in the past), but I was just expecting more. I think I am capable of decent size, it just doesn’t seem to come quickly for me. Because of that, I think super short blasts for me just don’t work that well (but I haven’t tried going crazy with things like Tren or high doses).
