Recommend Me a Beer

Damn, you and I have completely opposite beer preferences.

I’d also suggest Chimay Ale Blue Label if you want something that tastes great and will also knock you on your ass.

Are you trolling the guy? If he doesn’t like Guiness and even Bud is too heavy, there is no way he’ll like Chimay Blue. I love stouts but can’t stand Chimay Blue. The red and yellow would probably be okay though.

Duvel is a good gateway Belgian beer. And it will get you trashed.[/quote]

I can’t help it if he has shitty taste in beers.

And Chimay Blue is smooth as silk. It has an almost Champange-like quality.

And, by the way, Duvel is pretty similar to Chimay Blue (and also a good choice), IMO, so I don’t seen how you would recommend Duvel and not Chimay Blue.

Hey, at least he’s trying to branch out and asking for recommendations.

OP - Here’s a fun homework assignment. Get a six pack of Budweiser and a four pack of Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA.

Drink the Budweiser one night. Yep, all six of em. Make sure you have some pretzels. Have a big glass of water before bed.

Drink that four pack of 90 minute IPA the next night. Don’t worry, there’s only four beers. You’ve got this.

After that fourth beer, spend some time reflecting on which of those is “heavy”.

Hmm now I’m wondering if the Chimay Blue over there is different to the one over here. The one I had was really dark, and had that sickly sweetness that high alcohol beers get sometimes. Not a blonde like the Duvel. Or we could just have totally different palates.

This one? Bleue (Blue) | Bières de Chimay | BeerAdvocate

Shiner Bock, you’re welcome.

Yup. That’s the one. It is dark but very smooth and great for special occasions.

Bleurgh yeah I can’t stand it. Too sickly for me, wouldn’t describe it as smooth at all. Just goes to show: different strokes…

I can maybe drink one if I sip it (it does have good flavours) but couldn’t drink it all evening.

On a brighter note, my local purveyor of fine wines and beers gets a lot of American stuff in, so I’ll look out for the ones recommended here.

Also,
Pilsner Urquell
Fiji Bitter
Steinlager

I haven’t had a beer in about a year… I think the last one was steinlager or tui

Pilsner Urquell, Paulaner Hefeweizen, Belgian Session (Sam Adams), Alaskan Amber, Harpoon Summer Beer

Is there any way I could take back that budweiser comment?

I think the right way to atone would be to donate some beer to a person in need. Not everyone has beer.

If it’s your birthday, especially 21, your buddies should be buying you rounds. My favorite beer is free beer.

I like where your heads at, but how about I just drink a couple for ya? Don’t worry, I won’t have anything too heavy…

Thanks man I’ll have to check this one out.

Dont be a pussy, skip the beer and go straight to the Whiskey.

We have a great thread on here.

Beer is for frat boys and girls with thongs.

My buddies are all out in Boston until a week or so. The original plan was I was headed out there for the weekend. Going to the last college parties after finals and then the bar later on. But unfortunately some health issues are preventing that so its gonna be low key… for now. Besides, grilling some ribs and salmon and sitting around a fire drinking beers with family and a couple friends is not too shabby of a day either.
