Try 3mg and see how it works. You can always go up. My doc wrote the script for 5mg rather than 2.5mg so I went with that and it’s cheap enough that it doesn’t really matter for me. I think the 2.5 and the 5 used to cost almost the same and they were both expensive before the generics so people would buy the 5mg and cut it in half.
I’ve never noticed anything when I take it. I recall reading somewhere that you’re not supposed to drink alcohol with tadalifil as it can lower your blood pressure but I’ve had 5-6 drinks with it and I still didn’t notice anything unusual.
My wife works at the hospital and gets a employee price at the pharamcy there, so a lot of meds are cheaper using that rather than insurance. Some meds have been like $80 through insurance and she has them check employee price and will drop it to lile $30. I’m trying to decide if they kick back some of the money to the insurance companies with the inflated prices or just trying to collect more because they have to deal with them and don’t want to. It doesn’t make sense at all.
I’ve wondered that a lot too. I always figured the crazy like “$1000 list price” then “$100 with insurance” bs was just so someone at the insurance company could claim they negotiated a 90% discount or whatever, even if the drug is really like $80 cash price, haha
Who knows. It’d be cool to hear from someone in the industry that actually knows though.
Health insurance seems ripe with corruption to me…but I have a fantastic setup that has covered almost all of my HOT, so I definitely can’t complain about my circumstances. I’m actually sad about inevitably changing employers in the next couple years because I know insurance will change.
I have no aspirations to ever get spray-tanned, learn how to pose, etc – I admire bodybuilders, but that doesn’t appeal to me. However, I’m contemplating booking a summer photoshoot for nothing more than motivation.
Seems silly to waste the money, but I’m in a little bit of a lull with no real goals; it’d be fun to have something to work toward, like that body-change challenge I did last summer. Anyone done a shoot before?
I friend of mine did that. A little over 10 years ago when he turned 50 he decided to compete in the Mr. Colorado Masters competition and he posted pics from that. Then when he turned 60 last year he didn’t compete again but he prepped and did a photo shoot just to show the difference between 50 and 60 years old. In between he had overcome cancer so he had lost a fair amount of lean mass but still looked great. When I asked him about it I found out that he had competed in his teens and early 20s so it wasn’t his first time doing it. He had competed in the 165-lb weight class at 50 years old and in person he looked pretty normal, like a really fit guy with a nice set of guns. Quite different from when I ran into Franco Columbu back around 1980 and he looked like a gorilla in a suit. I was a big fan of Franco but I wouldn’t have wanted to look like him. LOL I might do a photo shoot when I turn 60 in a couple of years.
The whole system seems rigged. Once I developed this lump on my arm near my elbow and it turned red and painful so I went to the doctor. He gave me some antibiotics and had me come back in a few days. When I returned the lump was still there but the redness was gone and it didn’t hurt anymore. The doc asked me when I wanted to schedule the surgery to remove the lump. I told him that I didn’t have insurance at the time and he says, “Oh, don’t worry about it then, just come back whenever you have coverage. I won’t even charge you for the follow up visit, the insurance companies jack the prices up anyway.” A week later the lump was gone on its own. I couldn’t help thinking damn, this guy was going to cut me open and charge me a fortune for something that just needed some antibiotics.
Me too. I’ve heard some people say it has some slight anti-E properties so I’ve always wondered if it had something to do with that, see below. Though, their conclusion seems to state that lowering E is a reason for IMPROVED erectile dysfunction, etc. Which I know a lot of people won’t agree with (including me)
That’s great stuff, man. Absolutely incredible how he overcame cancer and got back into great shape – what a warrior.
I think this is probably what most guys are shooting for. I don’t want to look like a gorilla in a suit by any means, but I wouldn’t mind a slight hint of gorilla
You should do the shoot, man! That’s a hell of a way to celebrate turning 60. How long you been lifting?
As I mentioned in a previous post, I had a big work event today and gave an hour-long presentation to 250+. In the past, I would’ve been freaking out about it – but I felt completely serene, speaking loudly with calm confidence. Zero fear.
Testosterone is such a game-changer. It optimizes so much more than your body.
Edit: I haven’t noticed anything with the Cialis (5 mg/day). Had sex last night and may have been slightly harder than normal, but nothing crazy.
I think it might be the diet, brother. I would guess if you’d clean that up, all the effects of T would become more pronounced. I know when my diet is off, I just don’t feel very good about myself.
It was funny but when I was around 18 or so, give or take, Franco Columbu, who was a chiropractor as well as bodybuilder, came to town to give a presentation on Chiropractic Medicine and my buddy and I who were always big fans of Arnold, Franco, Big Lou and all of those guys decided to go just to see Franco. By the time we parked and got to the conference room the conference was just about to start and as we walked up to the door, who should round the corner and reach for the door handle but Franco himself. We almost ran into each other. Of course he was short, like 5’ 6" or so but god was he huge even wearing a suit. Definitely not the look I wanted. LOL
My wife doesn’t like the gorilla look. I asked her what she thought I should work on when I started working out and she just said not too skinny, not too fat, and don’t get too big. When I pressed her for more specifics she just said, “Don’t get those muscles those guys at the gym have that make them walk around with their arms sticking out like a gorilla or those big muscles on the side of your neck. Those look weird.” I’m pretty sure she was referring to lats and traps which of course is what most every guy in the gym wants. LOL I’ve worked out off and on, more off than on, since 1974 but never seriously. For many years I’d hit the gym in December-January-February and then when the weather turned warm I’d switch to cycling, mountain biking, and hiking until the weather started to turn cold in late fall. Then I’d take a break for a couple of months and start over. Any gains I’d make in the winter I’d burn off by September. Then in December of 2018 my wife suggested we build a gym in our basement and start working out so I did and I’ve been working out now since January of 2019 so a little over a year. I’m 57, 5’ 9", 198-lbs at about 15% body fat. I’ve just started a cut to come down to the low 180s to see what I look like.
Wow, you have a wealth of experience! I love that you tracked down Franco at that presentation – that is such a good story. Th
Man, this is when bodybuilders look most ridiculous, I think. I remember in Generation Iron when Phil Heath walked into the post-Olympia party in a suit – he looked absurd. I thought, never get so big that you look weird in a suit.
It’s funny because these are probably the same standards most women have. I think my wife would say something similar, though she prefers the ripped/lean look.
You seem to have a very healthy perspective on it – definitely healthier than many of the body-focused folks around here like me. It didn’t bother you losing your gains? That would mess with my head.
A home gym is such a game-changer! I absolutely love mine. It makes life so much simpler.
Sounds like you have a very good base of muscle – I’m surprised you’ve built up that much despite burning off your gains all those years. I bet you’ll look nuts at 180!
No, I worked out to get in shape but not really to get big. I’d be around 195 by March and then down to 185 by September at the same percent body fat. It was a little annoying but I really like cycling and just didn’t have time to do both. So I’d workout when it was cold and ride when it was warm and just deal with how it affected my lean mass.
I’ve got a Body Solid BR378 power cage with a 7’ Olympic bar, a 5’ Olympic bar, a couple of standard bars and dumbbell handles, assorted plates, a hex/trap bar, pulleys for lat pulldowns and seating rows on the cage, a flat bench and an adjustable incline/decline bench, a preacher curl bench, and a dip station. Most of it I bought used to save money. The only other equipment that I’d like to get is a vertical leg press.
I got big bones. LOL I’ve always been bigger than average for a guy of average height, I’m not sure why. Just genetics I guess. At 198-lbs my measurements are:
Neck: 17 1/4"
Chest: 46"
Arms (cold-flexed): 16"
Forearms: 13"
Waist: 34"
Hips: 39"
Thighs: 24"
Calves: 16"
I’ve never managed to get below 192-lbs while working out. I’ve been as low 175-lbs but with much less lean mass so it will be interesting to see if I can get to the low 180s while lifting and not losing too much lean mass.
