interesting comments regarding ian king’s deadlift’s in the deadlift thread. not to knock him or anything because i have learned and used many things from reading his work here on t mag. but I picked out three things that people said about ian’s programs: (1)they are for biomechanical correctness; (2)carry over to other sports; and (3) mass building. somewhat mutually exclusive. what are ian’s programs for or what do you use them for? also, who are ian’s clients? are they bodybuilders, strength atheletes, speed atheletes, corporate executives? does anyone know any world or national level atheletes in particular that he has trained and how they have progressed? any sports teams? poliquin and tate have let people know at least some of their clients. how about ian? i like his stuff, but a newbie or novice can make progress on just about any program. just wondering. no need for people to get defensive.
here is a linbk to ian king’s website. you can get more info on him there. http://www.kingsports.net/king.htm
it says some of his programs are for those who want size first and strength secondary.
King’s routines look like they help out the bodybuilder who has been in the game for a while, but who has not spent much time on the topic of structural balance. I have yet to use any of his routines, but plan on beginning the Limping/12 Weeks to Super Strength plans in early March after my two MAG-10 cycles. After I’ve added significant size and strength I want to spend time focusing on bringing up weak points and acheiving a more balanced plan. As far as I can see, that is how his routines best fit into my trainging plans.
Ian King has trained various professional teams in Australia, along with national rugby, swimming and various other olympic athletes. Ian just chooses to keep this to himself, he is a good strength coach regardless of who he has trained.
The programs for t-mag that ian writes are going to be aimed at hypertrophy/strength. The ones that he writes for his various athletes/teams will undoubtedly be specific to there needs!
makes sence doesnt it.
