RBlue's Training Log

Yeah, it wasn’t pretty!

Today’s training:

(1) Bench Press 3x5: 90 lbs/105lbs/120 lbs x 8 reps
(2) Bent-over BB row 3x6: 120 lbs
(3) DB Floor Press 4x4: 50 lbs
(4) Kroc Row: 45 lbs, 20 reps/15 reps
(5) 1-arm DB OHP 3x10: 17.5 lbs

finisher: DB swings, 60 lbs, 4x10, 45s rest between sets

I felt weak again today. No biggie, I’m just going to dominate next week!

Awesome that you got the MAT assessment. I was thinking the same about it affecting your lifting. At any rate, those numbers are great! Next week will be better I’m sure.

If you can cleanly bent over row 120x6 you should be kroc-ing 60s at least! Step your game up girl!

Yay for assisted WG pullups, and the right attitude towards a less-than-stellar training. You WILL dominate next week!

Bobbi - Thanks for the ass-kick! I think I may try the kroc rows earlier in the workout next week so I’m fresh. I’ll give those 60s a shot!

Masch & kimba - Thanks for the words of encouragement!

No training to report today, but I lifted close to 150 cases of booze today at work (some two at a time!), so I don’t feel so bad!

Tomorrow, a full day of work, then I have to pick up my mom from the train station. So I may try to do some AM cardio…

… who am I kidding?

Today’s training:

(1) Deadlift 3x5: 155lbs x 5/175lbs x 5/200lbs x 6
- Felt my form break down (rounded back) on the 6th rep, so decided to leave it at that.
(2) DB Bulgarian Split Squat (front foot elevated on ~3’’ box): 30 lbs
- Could probably have done more weight, but I felt a weird tingling in my left quad when I was doing them. I’ll try upping the weight next week.
(3) Good Morning 3x15: 85 lbs
- First time doing these other than in BB complexes. Was supposed to do 3x10 but misread my training journal.
(4) Single-leg RDL 4x15: 30 lb DBs; final set, left leg only
- I forgot how hard these are!
(5) DB Farmer’s Walk: 70 lb DBs, 1 round of track, 7 sets.

Off to work now. I hate working afternoons, but it’s especially bad on such a gorgeous spring day! It’s got to be at least 15 degrees (celsius) today!

Training:

Was planning on simply doing OHP, pullups/DB push press, t-bar row & lateral raises, but I got into the groove while I was training & added in a few more exercises. Why do I always have a great workout when I have a bad sleep? (~4hours last night)

(1) BB OHP 3x5: 50lbs x 5/60lbs x 5/65lbs x 9.5
- Yes, that 0.5 counts! :stuck_out_tongue: Last time I did this weight I got 11 reps, but I feel like my range of motion & form was better this week, so I’m happy.

(2) Pullups (shoulder-width grip - thanks Bobbi for the suggestion!) 3xAMRAP: 3/2/2

(3a) Band-assisted w.g. pullups (green band) 3x10
(3b) DB Push Press 3x6: 40lbs
- the 40s felt way better than last time I did this (although still pretty brutal!)
p.s. I love my new bands!!

(4a) T-bar row 3x15: 45 plate (set 3 - 13 reps)
(4b) Dips (chest emphasis) 3xAMRAP: 8/6/7 reps
- Hadn’t done dips in ages, they felt pretty good.

(5a) Alternating DB lateral raise 3x10: 25lbs
(5b) ‘’ bent-over lateral raise 3x10: 17.5 lbs

My energy level is still pretty darn high after all that, even with so little sleep. I have a feeling I’m going to pay dearly for all this later though!

P.S. Someone needs to tell guys everywhere that they aren’t invisible in mirrors. If you can see my face, I can see your face staring at my ass while I’m doing my rows.

Not that I mind, just wish they’d be a little less obvious. :stuck_out_tongue:

Lotsa pullups, lady! I like it.

Nobody stares at me. :frowning:

I doubt it with an ass like yours Alisa! - I bet they are just more subtle and you aren’t picking up on it.

Nice lifting, girl!

Yeah, guys at the gym are bad for staring. Bent over rows, deadlifts, squats…
I mean, it’s not necessarily a bad thing for them to stare (means there’s something to stare AT, right?), but yeah it can be a bit shocking when you glance up in the mirror and some dude is gawking at you.

I agree with nlmain, I highly doubt nobody stares at you! Have you actually taken a look at yourself? You are HOT STUFF! You’re probably just too engrossed in your workout to notice it. I, on the other hand, tend to people watch.

Hi Juniormint, thanks for stopping in!

I can’t help but laugh when they see that I’ve seen them gawking, and they look away all red-faced & embarassed… poor boys lol.

Hey fellow Canuck. Just popping in to say hi.

Yeah, the ass thing. We can’t help but look. Something about attractive women that actually train hard is almost impossible to ignore. But outright gawking is embarrassing for everybody in the gym.

Based on your SAMA pics and the numbers you are putting up I’m sure you have many admirers, subtle or otherwise, in the gym. Great training.

^that.

I even gawk if I see a random girl lifting…hot or not haha…

Thanks for stopping in & for the kind words giterdone! I totally understand looking - I do a LOT of it myself, lol - but yeah, gawking is just uncomfortable.

I see you’re from Nova Scotia! I used to live in Bedford, during my formative years. It’s beautiful out there, I miss it!

MiM - smiles I must admit, I do pay more attention when I see a girl lifting hard & heavy. The other day, this little, skinny girl was OHP-ing 85 lbs (seated, top half from pins), and made me realize I need to step my game up. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got some great news today! Still waiting to hear from McGill about my acceptance, but today I was granted an interview with the University of Western Ontario’s Dentistry program as well!! Feeling damn good!

Seriously, me too! I always want to go talk to them but am afraid that they will think that I am some random whacko. Haven’t seen one in a while though :frowning:

Last encounter was very funny. I would watch her, she would watch me. Everytime she walked by she would puff up a little. I swore that if I ever saw her again I would go talk to her, she woulda been an awesome training partner. She never came back in when I was training and I have since switched gyms. Too bad.

Congrats on the interview!!!

Thanks Doc!

Today’s training: Conditioning.

I did my workout in the basement room of my gym where they keep all the cool stuff (sledgehammer, tire, KBs, etc). Saw a BB already loaded with 75lbs when I walked in, so just for the hell of it I did Clean & Press, 6 reps.

Descending ladder (from 10 to 1): Box jumps (8 risers)
Tire flips
24 kg KB swings

Incline walk on treadmill, 15 mins.

On the way out of the gym, I got talking with the girls at the desk, and they somehow talked me into a spinning class tomorrow… ugh… what did I get myself into?
