RBlue's Training Log

jealous of the tire and kb’s - all the neat toys!

Based on your SAMA pics and the numbers you are putting up I’m sure you have many admirers, subtle or otherwise, in the gym.
I second this! Plus, like was said, girls moving weight in the gym is apt to attract attention.

I’m so the gawker/stalker at the gym. I can’t help myself. And I totally approach girls when I see them lifting serious - mostly because I’m nosey and in need of friends.

Awesome training RBlue!! You move some serious weight and the pullups are awesome! Great stuff going on in here.

haha @ in need of friends! I’m not skeered to talk to girls, but I never see any lifting like we do…

especially since the most popular female trainer has ladies doing the whackiest of moves, that I fear she is warping what it means to ‘strength train.’

wait, box jumps with 8 risers? WHAAT?! wow…

Alisa - Yes, I’m lucky, my gym mostly rocks!

Masch - Thanks! And I highly doubt you have a friend shortage, but if you’re looking, I would like to be your friend. smiles I’ll even spot you on bench!

MiM - You could do the 8 risers I bet, it looks scary, but you’ve just got to get over that hurdle & JUMP!
PS Are they moves a la Shape magazine? lol

Congrats on the interviews! Beautiful AND smart.

kimbakimba - Thank you! I hope you know that applies to you as well!

Did spinning today… and was reminded why I don’t do spinning. I hope I can walk tomorrow. That is all.

The last spin class I attended . . . I could see the weightroom from my bike (big mistake). Started salivating and finally got off the bike and left. I only made it through 20 minutes of the class!

I’ll join in on the spin class hate. One of my teams did spinning for conditioning. The worst part was that the next day, I’d never be able to sit comfortably in class because the bike seat would leave me sore.

Awesome that you got the MAT assessment. I was thinking the same about it affecting your lifting. At any rate, those numbers are great! Next week will be better I’m sure.
Masch,

Are you familiar with MAT? If so what was your experience?

Just curious.

Thanks,
M.

you think? I don’t spend a lot of time jumping!

And I have no idea where she gets this shit from, but I roll my eyes every time… like 1 arm rows, with one leg sticking straight out behind them? These ladies eat it up! Her signature move is also tricep kickbacks…

I have never, ever been to a spin class. Indoor cycling does nothing for me, and group classes – well, let’s just say I’m not much of a follower.

Sewn from the same fabric. Weather’s lookin nice enough around my neck of the woods - spings is actually a few weeks early. I should be able to take my bike out for a spin soon.

Yay, glad I’m not alone in the spin class hate!

Big M - you didn’t read about that spin class, 'mkay? :stuck_out_tongue:

MiM - Just work your way up to the big jump, it’s fun, I promise! Oh, and that 1-legged 1-armed row? I used to do that. Got it out of Shape. LOL

Kimba - Not much of a follower? I’m not surprised!

Nlmain - Outdoor biking beats stationary any day!

Are you THE Big M?!

Actually no, I’ve never had a MAT assessment, but I would really love one. I know I have problems firing the glutes, which is all part of a larger problem with the posterior chain (so says the ART guy). So a MAT assessment would have done me some good, especially now since i pulled the hammie. How are you finding it in terms of diagnosing imbalances?

Hi, my name is a Mascherano and I am a cardio junkie. I’m clearly in the minority, but I love spinning. I’ve stopped going though because apparently its not good for flexors - but really, I find spinning invigorating.

ssshhh! Masch - that’s the equivalent of swearin! just teasin. The heart’s a muscle too and it’s not a bad thing to shake it up once in a while.

I used to love spin. I think it’s a fab form of cardio. Especially since you can control the tension/speed to do aerobic/anaerobic intervals. I just. don’t. enjoy. it. anymore. But there’s no reason you shouldn’t, Maschy!

Masch - I’m not gonna lie, it was definitely invigorating. But I rarely do cardio like that anymore, so it was really tough. Plus, I know it’s not the best thing for me to be doing if I’m serious about increasing my strength.

Today’s training: Squat day! I’ve been having a little trouble with squats lately, and have been feeling it too much in my lower back. So, the past few days I did some deep bw squats to check my form, and noticed that I tend to lose my lower back arch when I get deep in the hole. My back doesn’t round, per se, but the arch definitely disappears. I decided to video my squats today, and really focus on maintaining my arch. I think that I’m not quite hitting depth as a result, so any advice to help me out with that would be greatly appreciated (videos to follow).

(1) Squat 3x3: 150 lbs x 3/170 lbs x 3/190 lbs x 5
- Depth wasn’t great on my money set, so I don’t know if all the reps should count or not. But it’s an improvement on last week, nonetheless.

** Just for fun, decided here to try a wide-grip pullup. I got two!! And they were perfect, clean, no-swing, no-cheat reps! **

(2) BB Reverse Lunge 4x6: 120 lbs

(3) GHR on standing leg curl 3xAMRAP: 12/12/12
- These are way easier than doing them on the lat pulldown station. After my 3 sets I played around with doing these with a band looped around my chest. I used the blue band, and was able to do them without needing to push myself off the ground. Might do them all this way next week for a change.

(4) Band leg curls 6x8: Blue band; last 3 sets on left leg only.
- Got the idea for these from this article: http://figureathlete.tmuscle.com/article/training/hammer_the_hams&cr= by Steven Morris.

(5) Weighted Plank 3x30s 25 lbs
- Figured I’d jump on the train & try them as well. I normally HATE ab training, but I LOVED these! I’m definitely going to do more of them!

** Just to make sure the pullups weren’t a fluke, I did one more. :stuck_out_tongue: **

Overall, the workout today felt great! But I’m not thrilled about my squats, I’ve got some work to do for those!

yay for wide-grip pullups!

Here’s s warmup set at 95 lbs.

Damnit! Let’s try that again, shall we?

Edit: I give up with the vids for now. I’ll try again in a little bit.

Edit #2: I am slightly intellectually challenged today, as I was trying to upload my video as an image… no wonder it didn’t work! LOL
