RBlue's Training Log

So my loan papers are signed, and tuition paid!! That’s a load off my shoulders.

I also got a chance to check out the campus fitness centre. It’s sick! It’s a new facility that was just built two years ago. The weight room was nice and big, with a ton of equipment. I only got a quick look, but there’s a big selection of dumbells, I counted about 5 squat racks, 10 benches, a ton of machine-based equipment, and I’m not sure but I may have spied a glute-ham raise in the corner!! There also looked to be about 100 cardio machines (which they don’t make you sign up for), a nice olympic-sized swimming pool, 5 squash courts, 4 gymnasiums, two “group fitness” studios, and three ping-pong tables.

Membership is free for students, and I’m really excited to have what looks like a great place to work out during the school year!

Unfortunately, I didn’t find the time today to meet with Big M for MAT or to get any training in. I just couldn’t let myself miss the finale of sytycd. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tomorrow I work in the morning, meet an old friend for sushi in the evening, and I’m hoping to go shopping for some paraphenelia for my girlfriend’s bachelorette (yes, another one!) in between. I can’t wait for the party, we’re going to learn pole dancing!

That gym sounds pretty darn cool. Pic of pole dancing is a must! kthanksby…

Haha I remember when I did a road trip, I was driving by myself but had my iPod playing through the car radio and got really into the song, so I was dancing playfully and the guy in front of me must have thought that I was flipping him off so he got angry and started to return the gestures.
Ha ha ha!! Too funny!
I learned to tone it down in the car from then. People are packing in their glove boxes don’t you know? :)
I should probably remind myself of this more often, but then again, it’s much harder for us mild-mannered Canadians to get our hands on such items.

You’ll kill that 150 shortly with no help, no worries.
Thanks darlin’

I’ll do my best to get some pics for you N. But I can’t guarantee I’ll post them if I look ridiculous. :stuck_out_tongue:

5 squat racks and 10 benches. Wow. Drool.

Now I hope you can find the time to utilize it in between studying. I imagine that dental school is pretty demanding time-wise.

sweetie you can just PM them straight to my box if you prefer

Snapper - Yep, I imagine it will be also. I’ll have to make the time, though, otherwise I will probably drive myself crazy holed up in my apartment studying. I need the stress relief!

N - Done and done.

Pole dancing and five squat racks. Does it get any better in log-dom?? I think not!

you’ll hafta make the time, thats for sure. btwn memorization and practicals, its a whole other life.

much like sitting back and critiquing someone elses lift, versus getting under the bar and doing it yourself.

crowns dont make themselves, love.

but hey, think of how many shitty pickup lines you’ll miss bc you have sharp pointy instruments in your patients mouths!

wow that fitness center sounds mindblowing!

best of luck with all the studying in your future.

That fitness center is awesome! And the best part is that it’s free!!!

yes, yes…PMs of pole dancing is a fine idea. In all due candour (note correct spelling), you have the legs, butt, back and smile for it.

^This cat sounds a lot like print.

Blu, sounds like you’re getting things in order. Good for you. We’ll work on the music thing.

hey, I meant every word. RBlue is my kinda colour (note the correct spelling)

Cat and dog getting along? What’s next a black president?..waitaminute

Kimba - I’m definitely excited about both the pole dancing, and the squat racks! I’m looking forward to seeing just how many of those racks are occupied by bros doing bicep curls on my first day in there… given that the gym is free for all students, and it’s a huge campus, I’m predicting 80%.

Bear - I am somewhat apprehensive about just how busy I’m going to be with schoolwork. But thanks to a bursary from the school, government loans, and a scary $200,000 line of credit from the bank, I won’t have to work which will help with the free time (although I’m thinking I might try to find a serving or bartending job one night a week to help with spending money). That, coupled with no t.v. to distract me, should help me stay on top of things and make time for training.

I like your perspective on things!

Deja - Thank you! As long as I keep my procrastination in check I should be good (I hope!)

Greeny - You are a girl after my own heart! Free is where it’s at!

Giterdone - I certainly appreciate your attention to proper Canadian spelling, as well as the compliments.

Print - Bring on the music! So nice to see the boys getting along, btw.

I’m about to head in to the gym for some deadlifting. I’m not anticipating a great session though, I’m absolutely wrecked from my weekend (yet again).

I headed into the city after work with some girlfriends on Saturday night for some drinks, dancing, and an impromptu back-alley photo shoot. I’m thinking I may post the photos to the Vixen thread, although they might be a little too clothed…

Ended up staying up till 4:30 in the morning playing wing-woman for my good friend who decided she really wanted to make out with a friend we met up with in the city. He and his friends were going back to one of the guy’s condo, and I couldn’t let her go alone. I ended up playing DJ for the boys. Lots of dancehall, whether they liked it or not.

Yesterday my mother’s aunt, uncle, and two cousins came for dinner, so I was up early to help with food prep and tidying. Then work again first thing this morning. I had to struggle to keep my eyes open on the drive home.

I’ve got the itch for more dancing!

i used to know how to dance.

not sure if i could manage much besides bumpngrind, or general assholery without a strong leader.

bumpngrind or general assholery? That’s pretty much the extent of it for me, too. But what more do you need for a night out dancing?

Of course, get a few drinks in me and get me in some comfortable shoes, and I become THE BEST DANCER IN THE CLUB!.. or maybe, the world?.. ain’t no one gonna tell me different.

Yesterday’s training: Deadlifts, and more deadlifts!

Deadlift 3x5,3,1:
75% = 165 lbs x5
85% = 185 lbs x3
95% = 210 lbs x4 (with belt)

=> I had just under an hour to train, and I was planning here to do some good mornings, hip thrusters and leg curls to finish off my workout. Instead, I got talking with a guy, Rob, who had previously approached me and asked if I was a powerlifter (after he saw me benching  ). He is an Olympic lifter, and actually goes to school for it somewhere up north.

In any case, we got to talking about deadlifting, and belts, and OHP and all things lifting. He suggested I give sumo another shot, and lent me his lever belt to try as well (funny that his belt fit me almost perfectly… gotta love my thick waist! :stuck_out_tongue: ).

I kept the 210 on the bar and almost fell over on my first rep of sumo!

Then I did 2 sets of 210 x 5 reps. These felt really great.

225 x 4 Again, went up really easy. It helped that Rob taught me how to take better advantage of the elastic energy at the bottom of the lift, by slightly lifting my hips and taking the slack out of the bar right before dropping them back down and ripping the bar off the floor.

At this point I was feeling really strong, and wanted to try a weight I hadn’t tried before. I added another 40 lbs to the bar (somewhat over-ambitious, eh?) and attempted 265. Got the bar about 1/2 an inch off the ground on my two attempts, but no further. Drats!!

Today’s training: Got into the gym late, at about 10pm, after a day of work and running errands and “scouting” new furniture for my apartment. I saw some pretty great deals on markdown merchandise, but I’m definitely gonna check out some thrift stores too before I make any purchases. The less money I need to spend on furnishings, the better!

(1) BB OHP 3x5,3,1:
75% = 65 lbs x5
85% = 75 lbs x3
95% = 85 lbs xFAIL (halfway up, but no lockout)

=> Gonna have to reset my max in this thanks to my little hiatus.

Push-press 85 lbs x4

OHP “drop-set”: 65 lbs x4
55 lbs x4
45 lbs x4

(2a) DB alternating lateral raise 3x7: 17.5 lbs (remember when I did sets of 10 in these with 25s?? grr)
(2b) green-band assisted chin-ups 3x10

(3) Face Pulls 3x10: 25 lbs

That darn OHP is a tricky biotch, aint it?

I got to 80 for reps awhile ago, then backed way off.

So are you going to mix it up and train sumo now?
