(4c) Alternating DB bent-over lat. raise 4x10: 20 lbs
=> Switched to chest-supported b.o. laterals in my 2nd set, because my lower back was feeling fried.
Today: 30 mins stepmill - 10 mins of 1-min intervals, 20 mins steady-state.

Thanks ladies! I had also wanted to deadlift a person for a while. It didn’t disappoint.
Grneyes, I remember the vid you’re thinking of. I think it was Molly’s training partner that the Bear single-leg hip-thrusted. It was awesome![/quote]
yep it was our friend susie. 115lbs of solid muscle and giggles and awesome. too lazy to go look for the link, but it was somewhere in my first log. molly has the vid or i’d repost it.
MiM - Chins are tough! And yeah, if you don’t work on them LOTS, it’s really hard to progress on them. I miss the days pre-competition when I could knock out 10 chins, but I have to keep reminding myself that I was about 15-20 lbs lighter then. Plus, I will get there again!
Masch - Thank you! Those dips killed me last night, actually. I used to do them weighted (again, at my pre-comp weight). I’ve been steadily working my way up on the lateral raises - it’s always been hard to get my shoulders to Grow! I do them with a slight bend in my arms, though, which makes them a little easier. Also, I find that doing them one arm at a time makes it easier to use a little more weight than I would otherwise.
And yes, that’s exactly how you pronounce my name! I like dorks (being a nerd, myself).
(4a) Band leg curls 4x10: Blue band, left leg exclusively
=> I took some vids of my squats (prior to my camera’s battery dying) at varying angles to keep me honest about my depth and check out my form. I was wearing shorts, and the difference in size between my right and left hamstrings was pretty ridiculous. Fucking surgery! So I skipped my right leg completely on the curls.
(4b) Roman Chair leg raises 4x15-20
I think this song is beautiful & melancholy. Perfect vibe tonight:
Just got a call from my mom, who’s in Montreal visiting my grandparents, and her cousin who’s sick with cancer. My grandfather (90 years old) apparently collapsed at home, and is in hospital now. They found a nodule in his lung. I’m so worried about him!
Hate the saying, but it certainly applies: when it rains, it pours.
Thanks, ladies, I really appreciate the thoughts. We still don’t know what the nodule is, or what sort of treatment is needed… so I’m hoping for the best for now!
=> Did these with a nice pause on the chest again. I’m very happy with my money set (PR!)
(2) 1-arm DB row 4x6: 65 lbs
(3) 1-arm DB floor press 4x6: 50 lbs
(4) Bent-over BB row 4x10: 110 lbs
(5a) Face Pulls 4x10: 5 plates
(5b) DB “W” Press 4x10: 17.5 lbs
I’m thinking I want to test my 1RMs after my deload week. Not sure if I should test one lift a day, and follow the same daily schedule I’ve been on, or test all 4 lifts (squat, bench, deadlift and OHP) in one day. What do you guys think?
I’m off to work shortly. Hate to be cooped up on such a gorgeous day. Happy Friday everyone!
Thanks Cal and Kimba, for the well wishes! Things are still up in the air, but nothing’s gotten worse, so I’ll take that as a good sign.
So Snapper, you vote for spreading it out over the week? Anyone else have an opinion on the issue? I was leaning towards spreading it out as well… but I also want to know them RIGHT AWAY, so doing them all in one day would appease that part of me.
