I have no opinion on that question except to say you might be tired out by the third one. Can I still say Hi!?
HI N! Please, say hi as much as you want! ![]()
Yeah, my CNS will probably get way too fried from doing them all in one day…
super niice benching! my weak sauce vote is to spread them out. unless you are just having a complete kick-ass day. and you don’t have to work through too many sets to get to your max…?
lovely DB row, btw! that rocks!!!
I’d spread em out…only so you can give your complete energy to each lift!
ohhhhhhhhhhh i drool over your benching, needless to say GREAT JOB!!! :)!
DAYUM! Not only nice benching, but nice training all around. You’re my hero.
I also would like to test my 1RM on my main lifts - but I think I need a buddy to spot me. I would certainly spread it out over a few days, but only because for me it would be a serious mental hurdle to try them out all in 1 day.
best wishes for your poppa! and yeah, rain will subside.

Well, shucks. ![]()
Thanks for the props, ladies.
So, it appears the consensus is that I should spread my 1RM testing over the week.
No training today or yesterday. Saturday was work, then I headed into the city for sushi and drinks with some girlfriends.
Today was bridesmaid dress shopping with some other girlfriends. We decided on a REALLY pretty dress - chiffon, sweetheart neckline, corset detail in the back, a small amount of crystal embellishment at the bust, floor-length, eggplant.
I also found my future wedding dress. Now I just need to trick some poor bastard into proposing so I get to wear it. ![]()
Tonight, going to see a movie. JLo’s new movie. Don’t judge me. I plan to eat a disgusting amount of extra-buttered popcorn and peanut M&Ms.
Tomorrow will be deadlift day. I’ll be going for 230 lbs for reps on my money set! Excited!!
Also excited because my BFF from Dubai is coming to visit next week!! We met in rez at McGill - next door neighbours. She is witty & smart & a little crazy (in a great way) & drop-dead gorgeous. I have a raging girl crush on her. ![]()
Hi Rachelle…I know I’m kinda late about Gleee but I liked the Cheerios’ numbers, ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘4 minutes’.
Ray of Light has always been one of those songs which made me feel like I was on an acid trip…preeety awesome!
J-Lo…J-NOOOOOO!!! LOL! Have fun.
Somehow I doubt it will take much tricking for you to find a husband, strong goddess that you are.
agree with snap… no trickery involved. finding someone worthy, however, is a task.

Right you are.

Ray of Light has always been one of my fav Madonna songs.
To the movie’s credit, my friend and I laughed A LOT. The movie was terrible, but in a very entertaining way.
Today’s training: Late workout after finishing work at 9 tonight.
(1) Deadlift 3x5/3/1:
75% = 185 lbs x5
85% = 210 lbs x3
95% = 230 lbs x3
=> I videotaped these to check out my form. I felt like I lost some of the tightness in my back on my money set, causing me to give up on my 4th rep. But after reviewing the vid, I don’t see much of a difference in my back compared to my earlier sets. Makes me wish I’d gone for rep #4!
(2) BB Hip thrusters 5x5: 225 lbs
(3) Single-leg squat (knee to step) 3x10
(4) Single-leg DB RDL 3x10: 2x35 lb DBs
feeling it is more important than seein it.
pegg wont let me face the mirrors when i squat at home, and theres no such thing as a mirror in efs.
Rachelle, I video every one of my deadlift sets. I don’t look in the mirror and often can’t “feel” my body wacking out, so this is the only way for me to judge my form.
That was some fine pulling.
Thanks Claire, I’ll remember that. Sounds like I made the right decision cutting my set short.
Kimba, you’re right, video is a great tool. It’s amazing some of the things your body does that you aren’t conscious of at the time.
Today’s training:
(1) BB OHP 3x5/3/1:
75% = 60 lbs x5
85% = 70 lbs x3
95% = 80 lbs x2
=> All these felt really heavy tonight. There weren’t any racks free, so I ended up having to hang-clean the BB up to my shoulders, which may have affected my sets. Also, I’ve just been feeling plain shitty and stressed out lately, which I’m sure isn’t helping my lifts.
(2a) Chin-ups 3xAMRAP: 5/5/5 => This is an improvement.
(2b) DB OHP 3x12: 20 lbs
(3a) Green band assisted narrow-grip pull-ups: 3x8
(3b) Dips 3x5
(4) T-bar row 4x6: 75 lbs
(5a) Alternating DB lateral raise 2x10: 27.5 lbs
(5b) Alternating DB front raise 2x10: 17.5 lbs
=> Meant to do 4 sets of these, but wasn’t feeling it. Plus my left shoulder felt a little wonky.
Gonna try to get a good night’s sleep tonight. Hopefully that’ll help my mood and stress levels a bit. The chocolate tonight didn’t help at all.
we’re neck and neck for the OH reps… ![]()
you got interesting dbs in your gym…*jealous!
was the db oh press with one arm? you can use more than that if it were two armed, cmon now! or maybe high rep stuff is your kryptonite? I’ve been digging it lately myself ![]()
But you can do chins, so ![]()
sorry the rain is still hanging around you, Rachelle. i know all too well that general feeling of shitiness & stress that leads to lack of output in the gym. i’m certain that hang clean would have affected your press, but 80 is still mucho impressive, woman!
don’t be too hard on yourself.
your lat raises always amaze me-and you are in the chin up club too? curses! jealous ![]()

It’s a race!!
Yeah, I love that their weights increase by increments of 2.5 lbs rather than 5 lbs. It makes it a lot easier to make progress.
Nope, the DB OHP was two-armed. I actually find I can do more one arm at a time than two - maybe something to do with my CNS devoting all of its attention to the one arm. Getting to 12 reps with the 20s felt hard, so I think maybe high-rep is my kryptonite, at least on that lift.
back atcha. Keep on trucking, you’ll get there!

Thanks for the encouragement T, I really appreciate it.
Like I said to MiM, you can join the chin up club too, just keep working at it! Oh, and bands are a great purchase to make!
