LOL

It’s an internal training video for the company I work for, about safe lifting. I’m the “talent”.

Please do.

Crazy-long workday (ended up being 21 hours) is OVER!! I’m about to crash for a couple of hours, but hopefully not too long, because it is beautiful, and sunny, and HOT today, and I don’t want to sleep through the weather. Might train if I wake up early enough, because I can be stupid like that.

glad you made it through a grueling work day…21 hours, wow! hope you got some well deserved rest.

21 hours? someone needs to call the SPCA! just teasin. but man, not too often Blue eh? that shit can kill you.

Thanks T & N. That’s definitely not a normal day for me, it’s only because we did the overnight video shoot, and I couldn’t get out of my regular shift at my store since it’s Easter weekend.

Not surprisingly, no training yesterday. I slept for about 4 hours in the afternoon, and woke up as the gym was closing. Besides, I felt too shitty to do much of anything, besides eat disgusting amounts of carb-laden foods (chips, cinnamon-raisin bread, apple pie, etc…) I was back at work at 8 this morning for another busy day.

Hit the gym after work.

Decided to walk to the gym (it’s only about 30 mins each way), since it was beautiful out and I wanted to enjoy the sun for a change. Carried my gym bag and purse with me, and weighed them when I got to the gym = 19.6 lbs. I need to clean them out, but it was good for some extra “cardio”.

Training:
Combined my deadlift and OHP deloads, since the gym is closed tomorrow, and I want to start into my next wave of 5/3/1 on Monday anyways.

(1a) Deadlift 3x5
40% = 95 lbs x5
50% = 120 lbs x5
60% = 140 lbs x5

superset with
(1b) OHP 3x5
40% = 30 lbs x5 (2 15 lb DBs)
50% = 40 lbs x5 (pre-loaded BB)
60% = 45 lbs x5

(2a) Front Squat 7x5: Bar/85/95/105/115/125/135 lbs
(2b) Chin-ups 7xAMRAP: 5/4/3.5/3/3/2.5/2

Was running out of time before the gym closed, so did the rest of my workout as a circuit:
3 circuits of:
Good Mornings x10: 105 lbs
Alternating DB lateral raises x10: 25 lbs
T-bar rows x10: 50 lbs
DB Incline bench (neutral grip) x10: 30 lbs

was going to end it there, but my rear delts were feeling neglected, so I also added in
Cable reverse fly x10: 5lbs + small plate

Just finished eating a meal of beef kabobs, roast sweet potato, stir-fried veggies (baby bok choy, nom nom nom), with a glass of cheap italian red. Feeling good.

that’s some nice training for a deload. those lat raises kill me. in fact, i thought of you today when i was slingin some 12.5s…haaaa!

your dinner sounds yum!

aaaannd, WTF is in your damn purse? maybe that’s why your shoulders are so strong-carrying that kind of crap around all the time.

fuck carrying a purse around. im just that low maintenance. or lazy. 20lbs is nuts. well, maybe not for a gym bag in there, too.

30 min walk to the gym? good for your gpp. golf clap

25’s for lat raises?! jeez you’re good.

I don’t carry a purse either. Never could get into that. If it can’t fit into my pockets, it’s not going.

I’ve been eating shit this weekend, too, RBlue. Carb city.

Stick with the lat raises T, you will get stronger! I started out at 7.5s two years ago. The 25s felt brutal yesterday though, I think due to the front squatting I did earlier in the workout.

Honestly, I don’t know what’s in the bottom of my purse, it’s been a long time since I dug down there. :stuck_out_tongue:

But most of the 20 lbs (~14) was the gym bag: shoes, bands, water bottles, shampoo/body wash/etc…

There are times when I wish I could get by without my purse. But I don’t normally wear much with pockets (I hate jeans!! Plus they tend to be too tight to fit anything worthwhile), and there’s too much I feel I ‘need’ to carry around.

GPP is so much more enjoyable when the weather’s good! Although I got caught in a bit of a wind-storm on the way home. It was very invigorating.

You and Claire are too hardcore to be high-maintenance.

Carb city is a delicious place to be.

Thanks Alisa! I’ve been stalled with the 25s for a while though. Maybe I’ll try out the 27.5s next week and see how they feel.

Today’s training:

Turns out the gym was open after all, but I decided to skip it because it’s again sunny and 20+ Celsius. I jumped on the hill sprint bandwagon instead!

Went out to the hill I used to toboggan on as a kid. It’s got a shorter section, which I started on today, and some longer sections which I’m going to work up to.

Stole my warm-up from this article: Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION

Light jog (400m)
High knee march (20m) x2
Butt kicks (20m) x2
lateral shuffle (20m) x2
cariocas (20m) x2 => I bet I looked ridiculous doing these, I wasn’t very good at them.
a-skips (20m) x2
strides (1/2 speed, up hill) x2

I also did the isometric muscle activation exercises I’ve been doing with all my warmups, after the jog, and prior to the rest of the warm-up.

I felt really good after the warm-up. I wanted to make sure I did an effective one, because the last time I tried sprinting, I pulled my right hamstring real good.

Then I did 10 sprints up the hill, baby-step walks down the hill. After sprint number 5 I took a 30s water break. These felt REALLY good, other than my feet losing purchase a bit. I will have to dig out my old soccer cleats for next time I think.

After this, I headed home, then decided to go for a 30 min hike in the greenspace we back on to.

I got some pics of the hill, and on the hike, that I might upload later.

Now it’s time for Easter dinner with the fam. Roast pork & chicken. I’m salivating as we speak.

Hope you’re all having a wonderful Easter weekend!

The weather I walked home in last night.

My starter hill (I wasn’t the only one doing sprints, lol)

Beautiful day to spend outdoors!

oh, so glad you had a gorgeous day, too!

I’m not gonna claim too hardcore to carry a purse… just, damn. one more thing to remember. for me to forget, actually. then i lose it and lose all my shit at once.

your hill looks steeper than my starter hill, and i’ll second your idea for getting cleats… they were recommended to me, and i’ll have to ask my mom if she still has old track shoes at the house. or, someone (masch?) can tell me how to score cheap ones.

Haha! I’m very lucky, and haven’t forgotten/lost a purse yet. Which is surprising given how unorganized and flighty I can be.

I don’t know if you guys have Play it Again Sports down in the states. It’s a great store up here where you can find lightly used sports equipment for cheap.

That is a goodly hill to be sprinting up. Nice work!

I love my purse. They will be taking my purse out of my cold, dead, hands.
