Raw Power

Dang Jack a 200 MP and 475 pull in the same workout …now that’s good livin’ Congrats on both

The opposing lifts is great work and your numbers are solid.

Good work in here JJack!

Thanks folks, I appreciate the encouragement!

Squats: 45 x10, 135 x5, 225 x3, 315 x1, 365 x1, 405 x1, 425 x1, 455 x miss, 405 x1, 365 x1.

Bench: 45 x20, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 275 x1, 310 x miss, 295 x1, 275 x2, 225 x10.

Machine Roes: 180 x10, 270 x10, 360 x10, 450 x5, 360 x10, 270 x10, 180 x10,

Notes: I buried 455 then it buried me. It was real close but the spotter gave me a bit of help in the middle. It might of went if I stayed a little tighter. 310 wasn’t even close, so I need to work 305 some more.

Side notes: I broke my belt buckle/lever. I hope INZER can get me a replacement in short order or I’m fucked. I think I’ll run some speed work until it comes in. On a side/side note I was miserable yesterday. I can feel inflammation pretty much everywhere and I broke down and pounded some advil. My joints are aching and I’m feeling a dull soreness everywhere. Maybe my belt breaking was a sign.

Have dark times descended upon you? The aches and pains are felt here too. That 455 and 310 will be coming soon.

I have an Inzer lever belt too. I can’t believe it broke. I know they are pretty proud of them, so hopefully they do what’s right.

GV, I think its just that fast gains come at a price. I need to evaluate whether they are worth it and sustainable, that’s all.

Crippler, I just called Inzer and they will ship me a free replacement once I ship this one in with a check for 9 bucks shipping. I also just ordered one for 25 bucks, that way I will have a spare in case one breaks again and it will ship today. Should be here friday or saturday with ground shipping.

Pushing one’s self always has a price, no doubt. Good to see Inzer is so upstanding.

Squats: 45 x10, 135 x5, 225 x3, 315 x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3.

Bench: 45 x10, 135 x5, 185 x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3.

Notes: I thought I’d have an easy speed night while I’m waiting for my belt. Squats got tough pretty quickly and by the 8th triple I was flat out done. I’m still feeling achy and beat up. Meh.

That speed work should pay off. I don’t take it for granted anymore. It’s harder IMHO than working to heavies.
Good work in here JK.

Thanks, OMP, for checking on me.

Press: 45 x10, 95 x5, 135 x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3.

Deads: 45 x10, 135 x5, 225 x5, 315 x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3.

Notes: I tried to do these fast with little rest. I may take a few days off until my belt gets here.

That’s a lot sets. You must be gassed.

I would like to see a DL video. Good luck getting to 500. That would be quite a milestone!

Im with OP no matter what I do for conditioning…speed work, especially that amount trumps all , nicely done…

I like your strategy doing some speed work and now taking a day or two off until the belt comes. Should get you reenergized and ready to get back into the Bulgarian method if that is the route you are going to take.

Nice speed lifting and conditioning.

Looking good Jack! I hope the belt gets there soon.

Injury Report:

While I was waiting for my belt my lower back really started hurting and I felt nerve-like issues running from my low back, around my ass, and down my leg to my toes. It really ached and in a way that spooked me a bit. I checked into a new chiro/physio guy who is pretty good. He thinks it is likely inflammation and irritation around L5 and from the x-rays I also apparently have a freakishly constructed L5 which makes me overly prone to low back problems/inflammation/nerve irritation, which makes some sense given my history. He has me icing and doing some little rehab exercises right now. There is an outside chance a bulging disk is causing the problem so he said lay off the weights for another week to see how things shake out. He seems pretty good and he’s PL friendly.

Interestingly, he thinks I have weak hams and tight calves and one of my gluts isn’t firing right and he thinks this is causing half my low back to compensate, which he thinks is also contributing to the inflammation and low back pain. The guy seems pretty sharp and seems to understand how the competition lifts work and he says he has some exercises that will help me fire right and improve my totals, which we will work on after he gets the inflammation and pain down to a more manageable level.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Glad you have a person you can trust that understands lifting and can help your back.

That’s too bad Jack. Take care of yourself.
